Foretti's

I found the food incredibly mediocre. I had cioppino. The broth was more of a tomato paste, and there was very little seafood in the bowl (mainly squid). Disappointing. Servers continually bumped the table and my chair. I think they are trying to serve too many people, so quality is suffering.

This is my go to Italian place in Newport Beach.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Foretti's CDM an enchanting Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of Corona Del Mar. Probably one of the best meals I enjoy during my time in Orange County.

To start I got the combination of prosciutto, arugula, and Parmesan was a symphony of flavors.

For dinner, I indulged in the fresh pasta creation. The pasta was coated in a zesty lemon sauce, punctuated by the peppery notes of arugula. A let's not forget the succulent shrimp.

The entire meal and service was nothing short of extraordinary. The ambiance, the attentive service, and the artistry on each plate--weaved together to create an unforgettable dining experience.

Disappointing Experience and Unfair Treatment at Foretti's Italian Restaurant in Corona Del Mar

I am compelled to share my disappointing experience at Foretti's Italian Restaurant in Corona Del Mar, a place where unfair treatment and misjudgment overshadowed what should have been a pleasant dining experience. My friend and I, looking forward to a special evening, reserved a high top table via Open Table, only to be told upon our arrival that our table was reserved for regulars--a practice we found both surprising and unwelcoming.

The hostess, Jade, informed us that our reserved table was unavailable because it was allegedly reserved for a couple, Jeff Parker and his wife, who were not even present. We tried to discuss this politely with the staff, but were met with indifference and a rigid adherence to a policy that favored absent regulars over present, ready-to-dine guests.

This favoritism and the staff's unprofessional demeanor ruined our evening, making us feel undervalued and mistreated. It's bewildering to be told that an empty table, reserved based on a hypothetical scenario, takes precedence over actual guests eager to enjoy their dining experience.

Furthermore, the owner's accusation that my friend yelled at the staff is baseless and offensive. We were nothing but respectful in expressing our dissatisfaction, and to be portrayed as disruptive is not only false but also defamatory. The owner's response to our concerns was dismissive and poorly articulated, further demonstrating a lack of respect and professionalism.

I am disheartened by the way we were treated and the owner's attempt to discredit us publicly. It's clear that Foretti's values certain customers over others, a policy that we find unjust and inhospitable. We will not be returning and advise others to consider how this establishment values its patrons before deciding to dine here. The experience and the subsequent false accusations have been deeply upsetting. We encourage others to support restaurants that treat all customers with the respect and fairness they deserve.

Picked up some ravioli and pizza take out. The food was delicious. I love the butternut squash ravioli. The dish was sweeter than I expected but very good.
Loved the pizza. The dough and crust were really great. Loved the San marzano tomato sauce.

Just had dinner here. Started with the Super Food Salad ( a little overpriced in my opinion) Ordered fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, made with their home made pasta. I have to say the sauce was bland, needed more flavor. My husband ordered the Healthy Salmon pasta, that was very tasty

Phenomenal food, always fresh, and best value in Newport and CDM for your dollar. The owner always makes you feel special. Definitely our go-to when we're in the area. My personal favorite is the Puttanesca.

We came to Foretti's for a casual date night. Parked in the small private lot behind the restaurant. A hostess instantly greeted us and as soon as we sat down at our table, we were brought complimentary bread with pesto dipping sauce and the owner, Thad, brought over a lovely syrah he had chosen for us (compliments of the lovely lady who had recommended this restaurant to me). He chatted with us as he opened the bottle. Such a charming, welcoming man.

It is an intimate eatery featuring house made pasta, pizza, build-your-own charcuterie board, an extensive Italian wine selection, and a variety of meat entrees. We had a difficult time deciding what we wanted to eat, since everything sounded so delicious! Finally with a couple of recommendations from our attentive, friendly server, Robert, we chose:

* Artichoke special with an Alfredo dipping sauce
(One of the BEST dishes I've ever had, no exaggeration)

* 50/50 - Housemade papparedelle pasta, bolognese style free-range beef and kurobuta pork salsiccia, wild mushrooms, shaved grana

* Veal Ossobuco Ravioli - Braised free-range veal shank filled ravioli, shallots, and garlic sauteed wild mushrooms, brown butter sage sauce

* Chocolate soufflé cake with vanilla ice cream

Extraordinary experience. Can't wait to come back!

Came here unexpectedly after our first option was booked. Was able to be seated right away and staff was extremely friendly. Ambiance of restaurant is elegant, inviting, and warm. You can see the kitchen from where we were seated. So many options between appetizers, pasta, pizza, and more! I got the Orecchiette cause i wanted to try something different. Absolutely delicious! Offered complimentary bread with pesto sauce. Pasta was delicate and soft!

If you have a gluten allergy and want a good pasta, this is the place to go!! --we ordered the pink bowtie pasta --SUB the bowtie pasta for the GF and it was very good! This dish came with fresh grilled chicken, zucchini, Italian marinated artichokes, and tomato vodka cream sauce. They serve complimentary bread which was amazing.
I also ordered a Limoncello Martini in which consisted of Italian Lemon Liqueur, Tito's Vodka, and a Lemon. I wasn't fan and the waiter was very kind to take it off my bill (I didn't even ask!). They have indoor and outdoor seating. I would recommend sitting in the outdoor patio, it is a beautiful view of CDM.

Pizza, pasta, formaggi and proscuitto...

Came here recently with a party of 10. Once seated, our cocktail orders and dipping focaccia (with pesto dip) popped onto the table in what felt like thirty seconds, our server was fast!

Limoncello Martini - This was light, citrusy and sweet but not too sweet, well balanced with red cherry at the bottom. Very refreshing on a hot summer night.

Three Cheese Plate - You can choose out of about eight different cheeses, mix and match and each cheese is paired with some matching accoutrements (sweet peppers, honey, figs, etc.) I enjoyed all the cheeses but I couldn't really understand why they dumped all the cheese on a thick salad bed of arugula. Would have been more orderly if the cheeses were on the board and the greens on the side.

Margherita Pizza (add Spicy Soppressata) - Big melted blogs of mozzarella, generous slices of salami made for a good pizza. It's fired up Napoletana style and the crust is not as big and bubbly as some other Napoletana style places but very tasty. If you want a pizza, get a pizza here.

Other things our party vacuumed up... Lobster Raviolis, Short Rib Pasta, Halibut steak, Fried Calamari.

Parking in the lot may fill up but there is often parking along the nearby streets in the evening. It's a great walking area on PCH... You can walk around the nearby stores, catch a movie at the Port or you can walk down to coast and take in the fresh sea air.

Service here is great, they are very efficient even while the tables are packed. The view of the walking traffic on the street keeps things interesting while you are kicking back with your friends and family having an awesome meal!
