"Foodmaxx, take it to the max, to maximize your shopping power food max...!" I still think of that slogan whenever I visit the store. :)

Times are tough with rising inflation costs so I venture to FoodMaxx in hopes to find some more affordable grocery options. To be honest, the prices were almost in line with the .99 cent store in the same plaza. I was looking for hash browns and came across a large pack, decently priced. Sometimes I find that FoodMaxx offers a variety of food options to choose from. Stop by and check out their selection when you're in the area.

Things to Know:
- Prices are relatively lower than other competitors.
- There is a loyalty program you can register to get extra discounts.
- Location is near the 880 freeway on and off ramp.
- Ample parking in front and other areas of the shopping plaza.
- Fun Fact: FoodMaxx's parent company is SaveMart!

The produce department has really gone down. Just about everything is rotten. Last time I was there water was all over the floor in the produce department, today 5/16/24 red onions were rotten, what was supposed to be collard greens were yellow. Where's the produce department manager? Since I couldn't give a zero star I had to give one star

I went here for the first time in a very long time since I wanted to try something different.

The prices are definitely lower. The food quality in the produce section is good.

But it's a very dreary place. Homeless people wandering around outside, only one check stand open with a growing line, self check out area closed, and a constant loud annoying beeping from some sort of machinery somewhere in the store.

The checker was doing a great job keeping things going and seemed friendly despite being alone, so there was that.

Despite the lower prices I think I'll be continuing to grocery shop at my usual location.

I don't come to this location often, but it is better than the two Oakland locations.
They are a franchise brand also, so the sale items can differ depending on locations.

Quality/Quantity -
I buy some produce here and some chicken and pork when they sell brand names here.
But today, due to my excess travels, I decided to just buy everything I needed, so I got some porterhouse steaks and some of their brand chicken; wish me luck. If bad, I will do a follow up review. Got some produce and fruits also.

Atmosphere - Added self service checkouts since the last time I visited, thank you!
Plenty of parking.
Easy in and out of the freeway.
Open 7 days a week from 6am to midnight.

Service - Self service, but good in stock conditions.
I especially like this brand when it comes to ad items, they almost always have it in stock; unlike their competitors!

Price - Affordable, but I only buy certain groceries from this brand. And do not visit often.

Owner Comment - I did not know that Savemart owns you; I learned something new. Congrats on your success since 1986, and Savemart's success since 1952.

I've seen rats running across aisles every single time I have gone here so I stopped going for months. Today I finally went for the first time in ages, and all of the aisles smelled like dead rats. Absolutely DISGUSTING! You're better off going to the local Safeway & Lucky nearby.

Good prices at FoodmaXx at produce / meat and other things.
However I think you guys really need to call rodent control..
I saw a rat there twice!

Produce selection is good
Prices for most items are reasonable

There always seems to be long lines here

I wasn't able to find some items related to Filipino ingredients such as coconut creme and coconut milk or sweet rice, nor was I able to find veg all

I stopped shopping here about two years ago because of the rat problem.
Apparently, the issue is ongoing and management has not done anything to resolve the rodent infestation.

This place has quit a character lol
Something's always going on, from birds flying up on the ceiling to homeless people coming in at night and fighting with workers, you can always guarantee to have something to talk about when leaving this place lol
I've been coming her for almost 10 years, pre pandemic I would always come in the afternoon, that's when it's the most packed. But now I only go at night because of social distancing and I love going at this time so much better, store is always somewhat empty and at night items are being restocked so you get everything fresh, the pricing for items is also the best you'll find around.

Just be careful if you do come at night, park as close to the door as you can, parking lot is very sketchy with people asking for money and just wondering around and they will occasionally will come into the store and cause a ruckus.

I love the night shift crew they are so fun and helpful! If you go at night you for sure know Cornelius! he's the best!

This is my go-to grocery store. Great prices for everyday food items. Although they do have some organic foods, most are not. The cashiers are always friendly and there are always at least three lanes open.

For me, they have a variety of fruits and vegetables (they even carry aloe vera leaves. I can get salmon, shrimp, catfish and even my favorite, dover sole). I do punch a hole in my meat to do a quick smell because of the one time I got bad meat. Now with COVID, I don't feel comfortable doing that, but if it's good I buy it and if it's bad, they don't need o sale it anyway. I always make sure no one is around so I can take my mask off :). I must look sneaky.

Throughout the store you will find discounted canned goods, frozen food and an ethnic variety - now even a large selection of Indian food.
