I've been here twice, both times before a play at the Geffen. The service is always a step above anything else in LA, their servers and bartenders are next level. The drink menu is fantastic, as great as it looks and options that suit everyone. The food is amazing. This most recent visit we had the French fries, in the top 10 best fries I've ever had. The salad was the one disappointment, pretty boring. A crab pasta which was so good I would've picked up the plate and licked it if no one was watching. And the dessert, some light strawberry concoction that was just unreal.
The previous visit we had the everything bagel bites which were such a treat, the crab pasta which is amazing and the hamachi crudo which was perfect.
Highly recommend this place, so good on every level!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 11, 2022
Fellow is a cool hip spot next to an art gallery in Westwood. It's a hidden local gem and the great ambiance would make a great date spot. Overall the dishes are pricy, but the service, ambiance and experience make it worth the splurge.
For the food: The meal starts with a free amuse-boche. The hamachi crudo and tempura mushroom are perfect appetizers to split with 2-3 people. It's worth sitting at the bar for the bar exclusive dry-aged beef burger and fries. The onion jam elevates the burger and I would happily come back for this burger. They have great variety of cocktails and mocktails.
My faves: crudo, tempura mushroom, burger + fries; Skip: seared duckHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 1851250527May 17, 2022
I go to the Trader Joe's across the way, and have no idea why it took me so long to discover this place. Their chocolate cake looked delicious, so I phoned in an order before driving on over.
The entrance threw me off initially; it is the entrance to an art gallery, then the doorway to Fellow is directly to your right. But before you get there, the host stand is front and center. While the bill was taken care of, I poked my head in to take a look at the modern space.
When I arrived to my car, I took a look into the bag and wanted to kick myself for paying $12 for such a small piece of cake, although I will say this was a beautiful slice of cake that actually tasted as good as it appeared. I opted out of the ice cream (I'm not sure if this is additional or not) and it didn't really need it since the cake was so good on its own.
On their main menu-food and drink-there are a couple different items that sounded appealing such as the Roasted Carrot (with black rice and mushroom), their burger and fries, and the Sakura Rose Champagne.
As far as I know, they only offer dinner at this time, which starts at 5p but I would love to visit if they ever open for lunch. I look forward to when I can visit to actually enjoy the food on the premises.
Since I was just picking up, I parked at the Trader Joe's lot across the way but if you want to stay longer and avoid the $15 valet next door, the Target lot isn't too far away.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 5711681954May 26, 2022
This place is nice, classy, healthy-ish, expensive and unfortunately the portions are teeny tiny little morsels of goodness. But we loved it, however, tax, tips and drinks for four was over $200. And again, the people there were supper nice. We loved our waiter, and yes he got a great tip for his service. The drink was great! We got some plates to share, unfortunately, there wasn't enough for more than a nibble.
I got the salmon and loved it. My stepmom got the Tuna and loved it. My sister got a rice dish that had a beautiful description. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to that promise. The person across from me, my stepmom's cousin, had another dish. But I regretted the decision to go halfsies with my sister with the rice and salmon. I'm sure she didn't.
They also have a cute little gallery which is cool and as my stepmom waited for her Uber, we walked around and looked at the art. I can't say that I would go back again, but I'm glad that I experienced them that one time I went.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 110325372Apr 16, 2022
Brought my friend here for her birthday last night and we had the most fabulous night. We got lucky and found street parking right across, and walked into the art gallery connected to Fellow. The owner (Philip) was super friendly and greeted us, then checked us in. We started with the amuse-bouche, super buttery and flaky, the chive cream cheese was also delicious. We then got the fennel salad (very tasty, I loved the sliced olives), hamachi crudo (can't really go wrong here), black truffle gnocchi (one of my faves! I loved how creamy and rich this was), roasted carrot (super, SUPER good. this came highly recommended but I was skeptical, it sounds basic but it was one of the best dishes), and wagyu.
We then wrapped it up with the basque cheesecake. Everything was superb! Great service, delicious cocktails, and a wonderful ambience.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Sukhmani, it was a pleasure meeting you. Thank you for your patronage and kind words.
We appreciate you and hope to see you again soon! - Mar 28, 2022
Great dining experience, from being accommodating of our lateness, to service and food. Everything was delicious. Literally every bite of the food from the main menu I took was so good. We had the chocolate cake for dessert and a coffee. I wasn't as impressed by the cake but it was still good, and I felt the same way about their cocktails. Full dining room from the beginning of our meal to the end and I would expect that they will keep the foodies coming.
They have valet but we found a meter on the street, luckily.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Violet Bistro wasn't open so we decided to try this fancy looking restaurant instead. Turns out it's affiliated with the museum next door. The outdoor seating decor was simple, cozy but elegant. The services was superb. The waiter was very concerned about customers' well-beings and made it his life goals to hydrate us. Water was constantly refilled, leading to averagely two bathroom breaks for each of us.
The fish dish was okay. The chef was trying to fuse Tom Yun from Thai cuisine with sashimi from Japanese cuisine. However the taste of the fish doesn't match up with the tangy taste of Tom Yum. It'd be better if another kind of fish is chosen. The cauliflower was pretty good. It's a bit crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. The sauce on the side pairs well with cauliflower and doesn't overwhelm it. The risotto was astonishingly good. The mushroom sauce was creamy but not overly so. A variety of mushrooms was chosen which make the sauce super rich in flavor. The risotto itself was also memorable. It had texture and well absorbed the flavor of the sauce. I usually don't go back to fine-dining restaurant because I value novelty (jk it's cause I'm poor), but I will definitely go back to Fellow, just for the risotto.
The dessert was ok. I am not a fan of sorbet and this sorbet was overly sweet. The Basque cheesecake was a standard well-baked Basque cheesecake. The inside has the signature semi-fluid texture, which was the only memorable thing about it. I still ate them all though, cause who could resist cake.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 13, 2021
Fellow is an upscale fine foodie restaurant in the center of Westwood. The food was really delicious and beautifully presented. The portions are on the smaller side but adequate if you're not a big eater.
The menu is not extensive but everyone should be able to find something they like.
Prices are definitely on the high side, but the quality of the food makes it worthwhile, if not every day then definitely for a special occasion.
There are a few tables outside the front of the restaurant and we chose this option due to covid, despite it being a chilly night. The servers set up heat lamps of either side of us which helped a lot.
The standouts were the ricotta gnudi (which is hard to find outside of Italy), and the poached striped bass.
Parking is only at the street meters but we found a space after driving around a couple times.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 28, 2021
This review is a hard one to write. The food was good but the service and value were a hard pass. This was an expensive and unpleasant meal because the server refused to listen to us. Her training was bad or she just doesn't have good instincts on service, I suppose. I'll give the too long, didn't read version and then go into more detail for those who care.

Please see my photo tour below to get details on each dish. I think I'm being charitable with a 3 star review but the sommelier deserved 5 stars, so here we are. The main failure here was the know-it-all server who knew absolutely nothing about small plate service at a fine dining restaurant. She should have listened during one of our several attempted interventions, but she completely ignored all requests. That is what landed her in the know-it-all category. She was a disaster and completely ruined our experience, quite frankly.
This meal was nearly $400 and this level of service was not appropriate for a meal of this cost and caliber. I'm sympathetic to their plight that they have had to completely rebrand and re-tool their operation, but they need to lower the prices if this is the level of service they intend to provide.
We tried to guide our server through the experience we wanted to have, she rebuffed us instantly and told us she had it under control. Spoiler alert: LIES! She didn't. It was a wreck. We attempted to redirect her and give her clues about how we wanted things served because we have young kids and we planned to share everything and expected that things would be coursed out correctly.
After the waitress flatly rebuffed my husband for trying to order things individually because we feared this exact situation, I tried to guide her twice. I was ignored and discounted at every turn. I bluntly told them when they brought out 3 appetizers all that the same time, some hot, that I absolutely didn't want the entrees to have the same horrible fate. The risotto was cold as it sat for a long time. Cold risotto is gross. It was expensive for a small portion, so I sent it back. They ultimately refunded that and a dessert but the meal was still very expensive all things considered. When they re made the risotto hot, it was good but wasn't a great value to be honest.
The ultimate travesty? After telling them NOT to bring all the entrees at once, they brought the long suffering lobster, a salmon dish and delicate Wagyu ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Anyone with any sense or training wouldn't ignore diners and their many warnings not bring out 2 hot seafood dishes at the same time as expensive and delicate medium rare Wagyu steak.
I was appalled at every turn and found myself shoveling the food in my mouth to try and beat the clock on all the food getting cold. We couldn't taste and enjoy anything. I snapped a fast photo of each but this place needs serious intervention if they intend to stay in business.
The value and service were just not there and there are many better Michelin starred places in this price point. The chef was doing good things, the server just failed in her delivery.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Brandi,
Thank you for writing your review and I apologize for the confusion that seems to have occurred during your meal.
I was surprised to read that there was major miscommunication regarding your specific request to have all of your dishes brought out individually. I can see where our server would have thought to bring out your three mains all at once as you were dining as a group of four, but if I’m reading this correctly it seems that you made a straightforward attempt to describe your preferences. I’m not sure exactly where the breakdown occurred, but perhaps we can connect soon and chat about the night.
I would love to be able to change the course of events, as we all sometimes wish we could, but maybe we can attempt to make things right in a better way.
Speaking with my team here, we would love the opportunity to invite you and your family back for a meal as soon as you’re available, giving us the chance to try again. We’re just finding our stride as a team here and I would hate for your only experience to have been cast in a negative light.
I’ll leave you a direct message with my personal info and I hope to speak with you soon.
