I don't know how this place has 3 stars. It's home style food and the best barbacoa. So soft and moist. Usually order the barbacoa, birria, tamales, consumes and caldos here. Fair prices and availae for pickup and delivery thru third parties. The plates and lbs of meat are good for multiple people. Friendly and fast service.

I was in the area and saw this place. I didn't remember a Mexican place here so I thought it must be fairly new. It was pretty full of people eating and that was a good sign. I was the only Gringo here.
I ordered a carne asada taco and beans. Bummer they are out of asada. So I went with carnitas. It came out and the taco was huge and loaded with big pieces of meat. I tried a piece of carnitas and it was very good. The beans were pretty standard refrieds, good but nothing special.
I had grabbed some chips and salsa. The dark red one has good flavor and is hot!
I'm going with 3 stars and holding back two as I really wanted carne asada. Maybe I can try it next time? No beer today, but the license notice is posted in the window so it's coming.
If you want good Mexican food try this place. Nothing fancy, but it is clean and the prices are reasonable.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 1 - Gerardo D.Sacramento, CA02Mar 3, 2022
Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Annette S.Sacramento, CA062Nov 10, 2020
This place has really good birria and barbacoa. It's definitely a "diamond in the rough" since it's hidden and they don't get the clientele they deserve. The quesabirrias are really delicious with handmade tortillas and I really appreciate the fact they have flavorful salsas which many other restaurants lack. My favorite is definitely the green salsa. Their horchata and consume was good too.

The food is very delicious always so fresh , but honestly there customer service is not good at all not friendly . If there customer service would be better it will go for more than 5 stars . They seemed bothered for anything you asked them .

I was really hoping to find another quality Mexican restaurant in South Sacramento. Sadly I have to agree with the other reviews. The quality of food here is really sub par.
I got 3 burritos with the Groupon to share with the squad (asada, carnitas, and chicken). We would have gotten them all asada but they ran out. The asada burrito was greasy, fatty, low quality, and lacked flavor. Carnitas was pretty similar and not very edible. Ended up tossing both after a few bites.
Chicken burrito was the only one that was okay, at best I'd rate it 3/5 stars. Salsa/chip bar was lacking and the restaurant wasn't very up to date or clean. Also the food took quite some time to come out.
The pricing here is also higher than similar restaurants. 9.99 a burrito plus tax. Came out to about $33 dollars total. The only reason I give this spot 2 stars and not one is due to the ladies that work there who are quite friendly.
I wouldn't go to this place no matter how good the Groupon deal was, definitely not if paying cash. There are just wayyy too many amazing Mexican/latin restaurants within 5 minutes of this place. La favorita taqueria, Maria's taco truck, Las palmas, etc.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Monique T.Sacramento, CA08Apr 30, 2021

Just came in and noticed the place is under new owners. I must say I loved the food and the owner and her daughter were super nice. My food was prepared quickly and tasted amazing! I can't wait to see what they do with the place. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to try a new restaurant in the area!
