The food and drinks here are good - not blow your hair back amazing, but still very good. The Korean bbq ribs appetizer and the coconut curry seafood were standouts.
What really makes this place is the ambiance. It's just got a very cool vibe inside, really unique and I'd call it "upscale beachy." The server we had was great.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 10, 2024
Certainly a popular place to go but locals don't come here at all. They all say the same thing - only item to get is the "Hula Pie", everything else is over priced and under value.
This is our second time here, the previous time was over 10 years ago.
Manager was quite accommodating when we found our Salad bar was $25 per person! $50 for 2 salad bars! Salad bar was maybe worth the $7 stated on the menu, that price was apparently only for those that also purchased an entree. We ordered 2@ appetizers that said "dinner" on our receipt. Manager reduc ed the price to the $7 and we were grateful.
Sorry, we won't be back again.
Locals gave us many more suggestions that they said were much better.
Hope so.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 41124189Apr 23, 2024
Duke's Kauai offers an unforgettable dining experience that seamlessly blends fantastic food with an unbeatable atmosphere. Situated in a prime location, the restaurant boasts stunning views that enhance the overall dining experience.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with a vibrant and upbeat atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a memorable evening. They had live music, which made the experience even better. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff members ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.
Having made prior reservations for a birthday dinner, we were eager to indulge in the culinary delights that Duke's had to offer. And we were not disappointed. From the moment the Coconut Ginger Braised Seafood graced our table, we knew we were in for a treat. The dish was bursting with flavor, thanks to the perfect combination of super fresh ingredients and skillful preparation. The coconut-infused rice served alongside provided a delightful sweetness that perfectly complemented the savory seafood.
But it was the Hula Pie that stole the show for me. Despite not being a fan of chocolate, I found myself thoroughly enjoying every decadent bite of this indulgent dessert. The pie was simply perfection, with its rich chocolatey flavor and creamy texture serving as a delightful finale to an already fantastic meal.
In conclusion, Duke's Kauai exceeded our expectations in every way possible. From the great location and upbeat atmosphere to the impeccable service and delicious food, it's a dining destination that I wholeheartedly recommend. And if you have the chance, be sure to treat yourself to the Coconut Ginger Braised Seafood and finish off your meal with a slice of their heavenly Hula Pie. You won't regret it.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 5, 2024
Came here because everyone recommended this place to be the best on the island. Honestly it wasn't at all! It was just okay, overpriced for sure! $39 for a tiny piece of fish and some rice, way too much! The calamari was pretty tough to chew, didn't like the marinara that came with it at all. The chicken and ribs plate was just okay as well, $29 for a chicken thigh, 2 ribs and some white rice. The only thing we liked was the hula pie, that was good, something different and unique to them. We hoped for a nice table with a view, and we were seated outside but no view! Idk maybe they have tables outdoor under the top deck with a nice view?
Our server was super sweet and nice, made recommendations and was very attentive. But over all for the price and portions I would say, no, try another place.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 29, 2024
Duke's was exactly what our hungry group needed! I loved the location, it had great views of this sweet cove and the beach. Our server was so friendly and nice and had great suggestions on some sight seeing excursions for us. They had a great deal for a beer and a burger so that's what I opted for. We also ordered the panko crusted calamari which was my favorite calamari anywhere else on the island. The burger was great! The meat was cooked perfectly and the bacon was crisp. Fries were also delicious. Mai Tai was also great!
Loved Duke's!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 20241 check-in
The food and drinks were very good. The view was relaxing and beautiful. We had a table where we could see the ocean perfectly. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The fish tacos were very yummy, nice wonton shell, with guacamole. The hula pie was super yummy. Love going to this spot every time we come out to Kauai.

Fun atmosphere! Menu offerings were a little over the place, but there is something for everyone. Signature cocktails were delicious (a little over priced, but this is a vacation spot). Service was attentive and really nice. Only open until 9pm, so if late night drinks or dining is your thing, this place probably wouldn't be a destination.

We love this place in the barefoot bar. It's next to the Royal Sonesta They have cheaper menu items and great mai tais. The service is consistently good and friendly.
The open outdoor ambiance here is amazing and over looks beautiful Kalapaki bay. We absolutely love this bar. They often have live music. Outstanding!Helpful 12Thanks 3Love this 20Oh no 1Jul 22, 2022Previous reviewDukes is a signature restaurant with many island themed dishes. Great atmosphere here! Most nights they host live music.
The filet mignon and special fish entrees are amazing but you will pay an amazing price for it in the upstairs restaurant. The filet is just under $50. The fish was $35.
Instead, we recommend the barefoot bar on the first floor. They have many awesome menu items and prices are much cheaper. I had the awesome kalbi short ribs, teriyaki bbq chicken, rice and Mac salad for just over $20. Yum! What a deal!
The mai tais here are famous and a customer favorite for its fresh fruit juices and fine rums. The view of Kalapaki Bay is beautiful here. I highly recommend dukes!Jul 18, 2019Previous reviewGreat service, drinks, scenery n food here!!! Duke's barefoot bar is one of the best deals for fine dining in the area. The smaller bar menu has plenty of great favorites from filet steak to appetizers to fresh grilled fish. The view from the restaurant onto the boardwalk in Kalapaki Beach is a great view.
We had a few of their custom cocktails. The dukes mai Tai was tasty and very strong. I loved it! We ordered the steak and fries plate. It was a well prepared petite filet steak with seasoned fries. It also came with a salad. For $20, it's a great value. The grilled ono fish plate with gourmet sauces and sides was fantastic. It was under $20.
I left my CC there by accident. I came back the next day and the manager had my card stored securely in the office. After I showed my ID, I signed for my card. What Amazing service with honest and professional people. We love this place! - Jan 4, 2024
Good ocean view, and a beautiful indoor stream with giant koi at the bottom. We landed on the island and this was our first real meal (a late lunch). It was raining on and off, as it does in winter Hawaii, and they sat us so close to the edge of the building we kept getting sprayed a bit too much and had to shimmy our table away. Other than that, service was standard and friendly.
The food wasn't that special, but my family tells me my low review was overly harsh so I'm bumping to 3 stars. They enjoyed their meals and flavors, it was mostly my pulled pork that was too bland maybe.
The highlights were the unique flavor BBQ sauce on the side for the pulled pork, and the large poke chunks. My son says the fish tacos had a really flavorful Cajun seasoning too. Otherwise, the pulled pork itself was fairly dry and flavorless. I didn't get a picture of the burger before my son started digging in, but it was a good size and cooked a nice medium, flavorful and juicy. He says it was a good burger. Not sure if it was a $22 burger but it was thick and flavorful.
Three stars is fair here. Mine wasn't that good and based on one dish I wouldn't go back. My wife said she'd go back for the poke, and my sons said it tasted good but they'd go elsewhere.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
