I stopped after a long work day on the road. This was a quick meal. I got seated fast, and had good service throughout. My server was great and sent me with a to-go cup of water for the rest of my journey home.
The food itself was good. I got the broasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and noodles, with rolls. I was looking for donuts afterwards. It was kind of late but I didn't see any donuts at this location. I am not sure if they were out or just don't offer them here.
There is a lot of seating and even if there is a short line it usually goes fast. They have a gift shop and small bakery to browse after your dining experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa R.Warner Robins, GA08May 15, 2024
The place is great! With the two level gift store and bakery alone is worth going for. The restaurant is good. It has a buffet you can partake in for 18 bucks, or you can order off the menu. We prefer ordering from the menu.
We've tried a few things off the menu and all were delicious. Portions are good for the average person.
Ham and cheese sandwich is good
Chicken strawberry salad is good
The BLT is awesome.
Burgers are good, nothing super special but good.
Worth going, especially if you have a big crew!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 21, 2024
It seems odd to rank a restaurant based on its shop in the lobby...so I won't. (PS the shop and bakery are a solid 4.5). The issue here isn't Amish food. Amish food is delicious. The problem is this version of Amish food tends to be bland and less than fresh. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. If you're looking to eat a large volume of food you're in luck. The ambiance is pure Amish homey-ness. But if you're hoping for fresh, farm to table, home style cooking...well, not so much. It's a great concept, and everything about it is well executed...but the food isn't impressive. Now, if your tastes run to the carb-and-gravy heavy side of life...and you're not a fan of overly seasoned restaurant food (which, let's be honest, contains wayyyyyy too much sodium most of the time) maybe this IS your new favorite.

Ok so I'm updating my last review I have since been back 3 times and have learned that the food is great as long as you don't go to the buffet and the prices of the none buffet food is just right. The service was good too. And love the old style family friendly ambiance of the restaurant. I have gone with my family of five and everything was great and also took additional family of a party of 9 and were easily accommodated.

Service was good and family friendly environment but way over priced and the only thing edible at the buffet was fried chicken but I would weather just go to a fried chicken restaurant and pay far less.

Met my parents halfway for lunch, and my mom suggested Der Dutchman because my grandma loves this restaurant. My mom got the buffet and salad bar (pictured), but my dad and I ordered off the regular menu and both got BLT's. Our waitress was phenomenal and super friendly. They even have an entire upstairs gift shop. My parents and I spent so long looking through everything because it was all cool little nicknacks - good for christmas/birthday gifts. Very home-y and cozy environment.

Der Dutchman has five locations in Ohio, one in Florida and one in Indiana. I've eaten at a few of the locations over the years but this review is for the location in Belleville, Ohio. Der Dutchman is about Amish kitchen cooking. This is the food I grew up with so eating here reminds me of my youth growing up on an Ohio farm. Weather you choose to order from the menu or select the buffet you will have a great meal.
Der Dutchman is big. There are multiple dining and banquet rooms as well as a bakery and gift shop. Our group of thirty or so occupied one of the banquet rooms. We availed ourselves of the buffet and were provided with soft drinks, coffee, tea and water to order as well as a dessert table with an assortment of wonderful baked and cream pies. Baskets of delicious rolls with butter were on the tables. Everything is made from scratch and it's delicious.
Some of my favorite items from the barn raising buffet were the broasted chicken, shredded roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing. The buffet also includes a fabulous salad bar. Especially good are the prepared salads like ham salad (my favorite), broccoli salad, coleslaw, potato salad and ham-cheese-pea salad. The bead pudding is really delicious too. Of course there are plenty of fresh vegetables and greens to create your own salad as well.
Service is friendly and professional. Prices are very reasonable. As big as this place is, somehow, it feels warm and comfortable. Everyone in our party ate their fill and enjoyed the experience. I unreservedly recommend Der Dutchman to any hungry mouth in the area.Helpful 38Thanks 0Love this 37Oh no 1 - Jul 1, 2023
Stopped in this morning with my wife, Mom, and her partner for his Class os '50 monthly breakfast. I understand that groups of 12-15 can be more difficult for servers. That said, my wife ordered an Apple fritter and waited to get it till the end! The simplest item served absolutely last? My breakfast sandwich came out rather fast considering, yet I waited till she had hers to eat. Not the happiest camper to say the least!

Amish my butt. The only thing Amish was the decore but wasn't a single Amish person in the place. Food wasn't that great. If I wanted fake eggs for my omelet I would have gone to any random truckstop restaurant. I looked and it looked like real eggs on the buffet, so why did I have to get the fake crap? Didn't bother to buy any food item in the gift shop as if the food in the restaurant is crappy, that other stuff they are trying to pass off as Amish probably isn't and crappy as well. The only positive is the big lot behind it for truckers.
