Where it sits and how it looks are so impressive, which only continues with the ambience that awaits inside the door.
The food and the service were top notch as expected. Not a lot to say about restaurants like this, if you really want good service and good food, make a reservation and go there.
I highly recommend Delmonico's.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 13, 2024
Could a revered dining institution possibly live up to the expectations? Turns out, they can. Mother's Day lunch reservation and they were as packed as you would expect. Our server, Agata, was polished and welcoming. Starting with drink recommendations and then walking us through the food options, she made sure we ordered just enough.
Seafood tower is two tiers and the best of everything. Lobster claws and tails, giant cocktail shrimp, oysters and hamachi. The next table over leaned over to ask us about it.
Porterhouse for two (sliced) was the showstopper. This time the tables on both sides had to tell us that they had considered ordering this but opted for smaller steaks. Perfectly medium temp, served with the peppercorn sauce we ordered plus the Delmonico sauce. I have been to many of the great steakhouses around the country and across the world. This was at the very top of my list.
Baked Alaska dessert. They torch it backstage and no longer pour flaming alcohol tableside as we saw online. Was still beautifully presented and delicious.
The dining room had a buzz to it due to being completely full but the service never wavered. Staring up at the murals, you could see the titans who have dined here. The decorations show how timeless the place is. I will be back to this top tier establishment!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ciela C.Bloomfield, NJ01126May 3, 2024
Excellent date night restaurant!
Okay! So I love how iconic the history and building is. I would suggest making a reservation. Servers and receptionists are superb. The food is delicious. It is $$$$$ but worth it.
Appetizer: Maine Crab Cake 10/10
Entrees: Our Signature Delmonico 10/10 (good for sharing)
Hand-cut French fries 15/10
Pasta (I forgot the name) 9/10
Dessert: Original Baked Alaska 15/10
Drink: Desperado Cocktail 10/10
I like the restaurant setup compared to Balthazars. It was a busy night, but not to the point that the place was cramped.
PS The Dress code is pretty lenient. I think I've seen customers wearing sneakers, caps inside, and no shorts allowed.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 17, 2024
If you just want an incredible steak, this is the place it lacks the ambience of Harry's . They put us down by the bar but service was friendly but a bit slow. Baked Alaska, which a few restaurants have was slightly disappointing, not worth the extra cash. Cream spinach was OK. Wines were good by the glass. Play modernize the field a little bit more than it used to be like a Marriott hotel even the servers are slightly happier than before, but not much.

Made a special effort to go down to Delmonico's. The dining room was closed for a private party, the bar had seating and while I would have preferred a table we sat at the actual bar.
I ordered the 10 oz eye of delmonico which came with fries and black truffle aioli and my daughter had the power lunch with 3 courses. She had the wedge salad minus the prosciutto (vegetarian) and blue cheese. The she had the mushroom risotto which was very good.
We concluded with the baked Alaska which came with a $10 unchanged.
Delmonico's claims to be the oldest fine dining restaurant in the U.S. They also lay claim to inventing Delmonico steaks, Eggs Benedict, Lobster Newberg, Chicken Ala Keene, and Baked Alaska. That's quite a legacy.
The steak was very good, but not in the pantheon of the very best steaks. The fries were also good as was the aioli. The wedge salad was a bit ordinary, but the risotto was probably the best thing we had, or tasted.
The Baked Alaska was fine too. We had great service from the bartender. All in a good lunch at a pretty good price for NYC. 4.5 rounds 5.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 6, 2024
We went to Delmonico's for a birthday dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant was extremely busy and reservations were required weeks in advance. It was great experience overall. Hand's down some of the best steak we ever had and the service was unlike any other restaurant. Our waiters were very tentative and constantly by our side when needed at the dinner table.
The ambience was relatively loud with a full house but was expected.
We ordered most of the sides but the creamed spinach and french fries were the table's favorite. All the steaks cooked to perfection, everyone asked for medium rare which had a pink center and a perfect crust on the steak. We finished off the night with famous Baked Alaska.
We will come back for future occasions.Helpful 1Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 29, 20241 check-in
The luxury and opulence promised since 1837 is still alive and present today at Delmonico's. The interior is gorgeous with blue velvet couches and lovely dark wood throughout. From the moment we walked through the door we were sincerely welcomed and were treated like VIPs the entire evening.
We started off with the Desperado cocktail, a glass of Chianti and the chilled jumbo prawns. The prawns were fresh and the cocktail sauce was fantastic.
For entrees we choose the signature Delmonico streak and the filet mignon, both MR. For sides we chose the creamed spinach, hand cut fries with black truffle ailoi and the sauteed wild mushrooms.
The steaks were both cooked and seasoned to perfection and were melt in your mouth goodness. The wild mushrooms paired so well with both steaks. The hand cut fries were hot and crispy on the outside, nice and moist on the inside. The black truffle dipping sauce took these fries to another level. The creamed spinach was an amazing brilliant green with the perfect amount of creaminess and we loved the tini cast iron pot it arrived in which kept it warm.
For dessert we had to have the Baked Alaska, a dessert said to originate here, and we loved it! The chocolate happy birthday message on the plate with a candle was such a thoughtful and much appreciated touch.
The amazing dishes, the impeccable service and attention to detail combined with the sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere made this a dining experience like no other.
We highly recommend and plan on returning.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Keith O.Brooklyn, NY47828May 18, 2024Updated review

Delmonico's was outstanding! From the service to the ambiance and of course the food. My friend and I had such an amazing experience.
We started with the Maine Crab Cake (see video) which was an explosion of great flavor. I ordered the Filet Mignon and my friend ordered the Signature Delmonico. Our sides were the Pomme Puree and Grilled Asparagus. Everything was cooked to perfection. The hollandaise foam on the asparagus was nothing like I've ever experienced before.
We finished our meal with the Baked Alaska to which our server gave us the historic story behind the dish. (I recommend reading the full history of Delmonico's on their website).
Our server was very attentive and gave us a memorable experience. I wish I lived here in New York so it could be my little guilty pleasure.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 54589Mar 6, 2024
Delmonico's is exactly what you expect from the oldest restaurant in New York City. A stuffy, white tablecloth, steakhouse with service catered toward corporate card dining. Our waiter seemed entirely disinterested in our experience, failing to explain the menu, adequately answer questions, or stop by and check on us. Unfortunately this is a through line that I've experienced at several old school steakhouses in NYC, who seem obligated to drag along subtle discrimination as part of their heritage, assuming that certain people are dining on a budget. We weren't.
Thankfully, the food was not as disappointing as the service. The filet mignon was well cooked and I adored the Wild Mushroom Risotto. The Yuzu Cheesecake was also a refreshing and delicious addition to an otherwise standard menu.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
