My car's transmission died in a most spectacular way. My mechanic being the honest trust worthy guy he is (Dynamic Urbana) basically told me not to waste any more money on the car. That I a Toyota would suit my needs. I have been a die hard Ford fan until now.
So the hunt for a reliable and somewhat roomy car started.
We immediately went to Darcars. As they are local and somewhat highly rated dealer. We like to support local businesses (yes they may be a chain, but get my drift)
We met Shaun Terry. A friendly guy who did not pressure us in the last. He was laid back and easy going.
Tested a used Rav 4 Hybrid limited. Fell in love with the car. Not the price nor the extra gizmos that I probably didn't really need. Asked for info on the new cars....
Damn two to three months! Not good news. So with stupid bravado I said I'd look around elsewhere. Mistake I made, also one of the few mistakes of Darcars. If they had steered me towards their used selection. I would have saved a lot of time, and have not had to come back with my tail between my legs. (Not that tail!)
A used car that was perfect for me was sitting in the lot. So two days later I came back. And had to have it.
Shaun Terry was again a breeze to work with, he didn't put on the pressure. He answered all my questions, assured me that I wasn't going to hell for buying anything other than American.
I guess if my car starts playing up I might edit this review. As I'll be dealing with their maintenance team.
But for sales. I do admire them. Well Shaun in particular.

I bought a new battery here and notice my new car battery died after 3 days, I had to jumpstart my car to drive back to this dealership. I wanted to have this battery replaced at first but they refused and say it something else that is causing the battery drain which makes sense. They did a diagnostic for my car and says it was not the battery and pointed out that it was parasitic drain by some component and requires additional charge to do further diagnostics so they can pinpoint this root cause of the parasitic drain. It took them a whole day to take everything apart. Since I didn't hear from them late in the afternoon, I decided to call them on the status of my car. They told me that technician will be done with his shift in an hour so they need me to leave the car so they can further diagnostic since they haven't found the problem. So I told them I need my car that night and cannot leave it there. So they ended up out everything back to together in 30 min before I went to pick up my car. When I got there, I asked them what the issue was since they spend the whole day on it. I think service manager came up with something quick and says that it was the ECU that's causing the drainage and it will cost about $2K to replace it. I told them that I will think about it and get back to them. I was charged about $320+ for diagnostic for the whole day. I later took my car to another dealership in Gaithersburg to get 2nd opinion and I explained to them that Frederick dealership says that I have ECU issue that causes battery drain issue. The Gaithersburg Toyota dealership service manager told me that ECU issue that causes battery drain is very rare and recommended me to do a full diagnostic to find the root cause. Guess what? An hour later Gaithersburg account manager called me back and told me that they found the issue. It turns out it was the Battery that was causing the problem. So I was right in the first place that was the battery all along. I didn't have any battery drainage issue anymore after Gaithersburg dealership replaced with a new battery. Later on I called back to Frederick dealership to speak to the General Manager but his secretary told me he's in the meeting and not able to take the call. She told me to leave the message with her and her GM will call me back. I explained to her what the whole situation and she says she seen this type of issue before which I find it very odd. Anyway, I'm still waiting for her GM to call me back so I can get my refund for the battery and mis-diagnostic. I've been waiting months now... I will try Better Business Bureau next if I don't hear back from the GM.

This review is more on the side of working there.
First off, when going through the hiring process they explain the hours being long, however they leave out you need to work the last day of the month (regardless if it's your day off or not) all day, 9am-9pm.
Second, communication between management is none existent. The lack of actual sales floor training is appalling. I went to a 1 and 1/2 week training of how to manage the online system, beyond that I was told my first 8 cars I would be assisted and received no type of help in reality.
Third, when turning in my 2 week notice, I was called into the office and told "They were accepting my resignation today". Which it was not for two weeks. And was not provided a termination letter. I was told it's company policy not to give one.

Hello people, that place is not a good place to get a car. If you are desperate, you better get a brand new car. They lie, and do not purchase the free oil change package. It is not true. If you get a used car but be prepared to start having problems with the car within the first year and they will not help you. The sales team is not honest, they will be nice to you and get you a car quickly but be AWARE. If you read this and still decide to get a car there, all I can say is that I tried to warn you. BE AWARE of DARCARS. Big red glad !!!

A new low for this dealership - I tried getting servicing scheduled. Called today and was told, without even getting any information from me, that the next available appointment was on 9/14. Guess it's like getting an appointment from a scarce medical specialty doctor. DarCars
have no problem selling the vehicles, as such, but servicing - well - schedule a month in advance. Just estimate how much you will be driving etc. And the woman on the phone was rude and dismissive. No problem. I called a couple of weeks after 6/18, and was then told there was an installer problem, they apparently use another company whose installer left, and they were looking for a new one. Fine - I waited another couple of weeks, and called and stopped in multiple times to get an update. Same story. Then I called the sales manager last week - and he said he would give me daily updates. I'm hearing crickets! I paid $495 for this protection, and the longer I drive, the more chance I have of getting nickes and dings on the hood. So done with this - going to DarCars today and will demand a refund. Their lack of service and selling products they cannot deliver is shocking.

Terrible service from Jim Collins.
Didn't show any courtesy or support in addressing my main concern but rather interested in ripping me off with unnecessary recommendations which are priced ridiculously high. This service person didn't care he had kept me here for hours, didn't care I was standing infront of him whilst he made other calls and attended to other things. Seemed very irritated with the honest questions I had. If you're thinking of receiving great service with a fair price, AVOID this place at all costs!

They're very busy and they act accordingly. It's a smooth process for the most part, but they charge you through the nose, appointments can take forever to get, and if you have any kind of issue, there's the unspoken but very clear sense that you can shove it in a sack and take your business elsewhere. They'd like you to believe that no one can do a better job than they can, but I switched mechanics and haven't looked back. Save your time and your money!

Did you see how much these clowns are asking for the 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro V6 in Electric Lime!?! $61,000+?!? This must be made of gold. Wonder if Toyota knows they are trying to rip off JQ public like that?

By far the worst service department I have ever experienced. Avoid going here to buy and get your vehicle serviced.
After they over filled my engine oil and caused it to leak out of the oil pan gasket, they said it falls under warranty. But they wouldn't let me verify the oil pan got resealed, even thought they let me go back there to verify the technician confirmed the oil leaking. They even banged the door of the suv next to mine on the lift and didn't say a thing to the owner of that suv. I didn't trust that they would actually seal the oil pan, so I asked if I could watch when they resealed it. Answer was No, even though the sign says I can when accompanied by a technician. They are not honest here.
I'd still by a Toyota, just not from Darcars. Disappointing that Toyota has there vehicles sold by Darcars.

Dependable auto service while you wait.
Have used Darcars Frederick to service my toyota's for many years now. Scheduling online is easy and service is performed in relatively quick efficient manner. In this case waited couple few hours for 120k service. Multiple advisors are ready and waiting for you to drive in or overnight drop off. Be sure and ask about eligible discounts and beware of ususal add-ons by the service writers. Overall staff appears knowledgeable, friendly and the free coffee in the waiting area, and courtesy car wash is added bonus.
