Had a great time at the Coffee & Donut Fest. It was totally worth getting up at the ass-crack of dawn on a Saturday morning just to attend the VIP hour and get first sips/bites before the crowds poured in.

And there was some really awesome jelly donut wrestling. It was sticky, sweet and full of pile drives, headlocks and jelly. The donut queen pageant was also pretty great. I heard donut jokes and saw a lady dressed up as a donut do some jazzercise moves to some groovy tunes.

The best donuts were from Hurts Donuts, but Hy-Vee really pulled through giving away probably a few thousand delicious donuts to attendees.

Great event. I'm sure next year will be bigger/badder!

Cool idea and much thanks to Hyvee for supplying copious amounts of free donuts, the glazed were for sure my fav.

Lamar's donuts had a great showing with their complimentary donut holes, we really enjoyed the basic glazed as well as their blueberry variety. Am definitely looking forward to checking these out fresh sometime!

Another cool vendor there was Pettit's pastry which had a collection about ~15-20 different types of gourmet donuts that was vaguely reminiscent of some of the donut trucks you might find in Soho NYC, we also opted for their blueberry donut and weren't disappointed at all.

I think overall the event was pretty cool but would like to see more showings from other stores in the Omaha area hopefully next year!

Great idea and looking forward to seeing this event expand, possibly an outdoor venue would have been more appealing!

Great for family fun! I participated in the jelly donut wrestling event and had a blast :D there was free donuts and music. Definitely bring some money for drinks and other food. Would attend this event next year!

As far as events go, this has to have been my favorite of the year!
I have a bit of a problem with donuts... I can't get enough of them!

Honestly, my initial thoughts upon walking into the festival weren't so great. There weren't a whole lot of vendors and, of the ones they had, at least half (if not more) weren't donut-related.
My opinion elevated shortly after when we reached the first booth. We were immediately greeted with a sack full of donuts - each - from Hy-Vee. After making the rounds and sampling a few more wares, we'd had enough sugar and needed something savory. As the options were very limited, we decided it was time to go.
Wanting to use up our "donut bucks," we stopped at the Pettits booth. Little did we know that a single ticket was going to garner us a dozen donuts! We had three left... On our way out, Hy-Vee tempted us again with yet another sack of donuts each...
After all was said and done, we left with somewhere around 5 dozen donuts a piece. It was insane! On my way home, I made several stops to friends and relatives to spread the wealth. I may be addicted to donuts, but even I needed help making sure not a single bite of all of that hole-y goodness went to waste!
I will definitely be back (with a reusable shopping bag... or two) next year!

I was hoping to see some Food Network-type donut creations. Maybe I missed them, having shown up in the afternoon. I did enjoy the jelly donut wrestling , mimosas, and free donuts from HyVee.
