Chadar Thai Restaurant

Chadar is located in a strip mall. The same strip mall several other places I have written about are located. This is turning into a mecca of really good food.

Chadar is legit Thai food. The curries are excellent. The team takes heat levels seriously -- thai hot is thai hot, american hot is american hot -- and all the appetizers we have tried are very good. we highly recommend the crying tiger -- the dipping sauce that accompanies really makes a memory.

Service is prompt, and they do a lot of doordash and take out. Prices are affordable.

Great ambience, good service, great food. The server was very attentive and accommodative. Great vegetarian options.

I like Chedar a lot. A smaller restaurant with a very laid back and quiet ambiance. Good for a date or smaller gatherings.

Chedar offers some standout appetizers: the shrimp spring rolls and the crab Rangoon are some of the best I've had anywhere. The crab Rangoon is loaded with filling. This is my go to place if in the mood for a Thai curry dish; the green curry and Penang curry are excellent and herbs and vegetables always fresh. Note that Chedar tends to be spicier than other restaurants so I suggest starting with a spice level below what you might typically order. Alcoholic beverages are available as well as Thai teas. There are a variety of homemade ice creams for dessert.

Service has been consistently excellent. Definitely worth a try!

The food was very good but my companion and I both ordered a heat level of 1. Fortunately mine was the hotter.

They are better than most Thai places in town. Ample serving, and really authentic flavors. Service is very good.

Location is unassuming but don't let it's shopping center location deter you. The fried shrimp rolls were outstanding. The inclusion of cut vegetables in the dipping sauce was welcomed. Chili paste is on every table which was delightful to customize your own heat level to dishes. The drunken noodles were phenomenal, devoured in an instant. The pad Thai was also good. Homemade ice creams offer a generous portion and unique flavor options, I was sad I missed that they had pandan flavor before we ordered. The Thai tea flavor was a favorite. Service was friendly. Worst part was I left my leftovers accidentally at the table . In short, give this place a try if you're looking for great Thai food in RVA.

Walking into this restaurant you forget you are in a strip mall. The decor and food takes you into a whole different world. The owner is usually there & all the staff are pretty nice. The food is consistent in flavor, this is my favorite Thai place to eat.

Lots of choices from soups, noodles, curry and vegetable dishes. The yellow curry was amazing. Portions were ample and no complaints from our table. Cafe is small but comfortable and staff is helpful.
