Cahoots Coffee Cafe is a non-profit cafe by day, and at 3:30PM when those buses stop, we turn into a youth center focused on helping adolescents and teens. We serve excellent brewed coffee, specialty coffees, and a new lunch menu that focuses on salads and wraps. All proceeds go directly to our programs such as tutoring, MRT, or Tell It Like It Is (a few examples among many) which is free for all youth participating.

Decent coffee and fun atmosphere. Espresso machine is down so that wasn't ideal. Coffee wasn't anything special

Good atmosphere. Coffee was mediocre. Staff was very nice and accommodating because their espresso machine was down.

I don't even want to give Cahoots Coffee Cafe any stars at all. My friend and I walk in and all of the employees are sitting around and talking and were hesitant to take our order. One guy comes up and take our order finally, and was not wearing a mask during the entirety of us being there. He was completely confused and did not understand what drinks we ordered and how to make them. We both ordered iced drinks yet continued to steam the milk and made the drink completely wrong. My drink was overflowing when he put ice in it, so some ice fell out. This guy took his bare, "clean" hands and picked up my ice and plopped it back into my drink during a global pandemic. Thoroughly disappointed and I was too upset to ask him to remake my drink- I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for two drinks.

Cahoots is a true hidden gem in Steuben County. With great coffee, and very tasty lunches, it also provides a space for local events, including concerts, meetings, and fundraising. You can often join in a writers workshop, or get involved with the kids/teens by becoming an advocate through Big brothers/BIg sisters. I am now 27 years old, and began frequenting this venue at the age of about 17. The programs alone that are provided for the local teens have only gotten better and better over the years. Without this opportunity many kids and teens would be left to the streets. Many of whom are raised by single parents, who work long shifts at factories, and depend on spaces like this to provide safe haven for them during after school and evening hours. This isn't just your average coffee cafe like Starbucks...This is a hugely necessary extremity of our community.

If you're nearby and need a fix, this may be okay - however, this is not good coffee.. Whatever your worst experience at Starbucks is, this is about it...maybe a little worse.
I had to pull over at a gas station, run in and get a bottle of juice to get the nasty aftertaste out of my mouth.
It was a neat looking building with great atmosphere, but the coffee was really bad.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jamie P.Angola, IN8031Jan 28, 2016
Firstly, the smell. Being located in a historical building in downtown Angola, it offers the warm welcoming aroma of fresh ground coffee, sweet confection, and books.
Secondly, the decorum. While designed to be juvenile friendly, it comes across as chic, vintage and incredibly comfortable.
Thirdly, the atmosphere. This coffee house is a getaway for the youth of Steuben while simultaneously providing a study area away from the busy college and/or a place for a nice drink and novel. My last experience was a small business meeting held at one of their high top tables. There was subtle though pleasing music playing in the background whilst some local youth were conversing and playing cards. We were never distracted or interrupted. We found that the meeting had gone so smoothly and quickly we had time to sit and enjoy the environment and our coffees.
Fourthly, the service. The lone barista was busy with breakfasts goers, newbies, regulars, business type like ourselves, and yet she was right on top of everything. Not one person was left without a warm cup and a pleasant smile.
As for what was found in the warm cup...what can I say, it was decadent. I've been a coffee snob my whole life, I have the club cards to prove it. I could wax on poetically about how perfectly my favorite coffee was executed for oh about three more paragraphs...but why don't you go find out for yourself.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Loren J.Chicago, IL2002016Jun 21, 2012First to Review
Stopped in on a whim just looking for coffee. Ended up spending an hour there. Such a cozy, fun place. There was live music (acoustic guitar/ piano) and friendly people. Stop by if you can, what a great place!
