Service: Excellent. My server did a great job!
Food: lackluster. The Caesar salad was drowning in dressing and the Chicken Parm and garlic bread lacked, well, flavor. Actuality the garlic bread was devoid of garlic. Good portion size, however.
Overall: maybe worth going back to, but that dish isn't a draw.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gloria A W.Jackson, MS0919May 16, 2022
I purchased the seafood platter to go. The seafoods were fried shrimp, a catfish fillet, 2 stuffed shrimp and crawfish obviously substituted for clam strips; served on a bed of withered up brown Chinese Cabbage and a half filled cup of gumbo. There was a side of tasteless asparagus also included that I was not aware of; otherwise, I would have requested a substitution if given the choice.
I could not believe my eyes when I saw the awful looking bed of brown withered vegetables underneath the seafood. I was further disappointed to discover such a small dab of a half full cup of gumbo.
It's highly recommended to carefully check your order before leaving the premises to avoid total disappointment.
In the past, I've dined in and had far better experiences. The carry out order was not treated equally.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 2, 2020
Julie came in the other day and raves about the burgers so we had to come! Our waitress Nichole was awesome super friendly, chatted with us a lot of fun!
It took a long time for the burgers but worth the wait, char broiled goodness!! I had fries and Julie had the house made chips. It was busy and that's why it took so long. It's clean plenty of seating even with social distancing. The menu is short now but there's sandwiches sea food and salads and a breakfast served all day. Y'all come by!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - John M.Long Beach, MS117168Dec 1, 2022
Excellent service and food selection. We don't recommend the chicken tortilla soup definitely not a good recipe they're using. It tastes more like chili mix than a tortilla soup other than that food was good. Dining area was nice with cloth table linen and napkins

The food was really tasty. They cooked my boyfriends steak perfectly. The catfish was tender, not greasy, and it was flavorful. (It was one of the fishier catfishes I've had-- still super good.) The asparagus was GREAT. Tasted very lemon-y and herby. The baby bakers were also very tender and cooked well. Thanks Joe for phenomenal service. My boyfriend can't have spicy stuff and he asked if the gumbo was spicy, Joe said no-- and the gumbo was perfect. Previously had servers be dishonest about the spice level of food, so this was greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone who made tonight a great experience. Definitely recommend the food...and Joe for service!
Also went again and had Justina. She was great. The food was great. The steak was tender and juicy, cooked perfectly. The potatoes were great. The cabbage was lovely. The breakfast meal was plentiful and tasty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 27, 2020Previous reviewThe food was really tasty. They cooked my boyfriends steak perfectly. The steak is not worth 37 dollars. The ribeye was super thin and charred to a crisp at the edges. Just grab you one from Texas Roadhouse and save yourself the disappointment.

Interesting how this place is all four and five star reviews the last year or so with a bunch of 1-star reviews from four or five years ago. One of the things I hate about Yelps review system is that they keep old reviews from 5 years ago and don't don't filter them or give them less weight than the recent ones. I've eaten at C&G Grill five or six times and it's been excellent every time, every dish I've ordered has been good from the seafood to the salads everything.
Get it together Yelp because anyone looking at the reviews would think this place sucks until they dive in and see that all the bed reviews are 4 and 5 years old.... it's obvious to anyone this place has improved dramatically over what it was several years ago.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Shell W.Quincy, FL11665148Dec 30, 2020
Louis my sever was amazing!!!! His hospitality is what garners a five star review. The past was so good I didn't think to take a picture. Please forgive me for my rudeness but I was famished to say the least. Will always stop on for their delectable eats.

I came to the C&G Grill because I was at the casino which was probably the first mistake I made. We were seated pretty quickly, which was good in a way but also another bad sign, an empty restaurant, on Fat Tuesday. We sat at our table and the first thing I noticed with the menu, which looked to be a nice one at one time. was basically torn in half. I look past the unkept appearance of the menu and there's not much to it. Simple is sometimes good but this one was just off for some reason. I asked what the soup of the day was and the waiter responded "corn stew" (corn chowder). Not feeling very confident in most of the menu I decided to play it safe and go with breakfast since it's served all day. I ordered a breakfast bowl that consisted of hash browns topped with eggs, sausage, bacon, and cheese. My order came out after about 20 minutes and I know right away it's not going to be good. It was too greasy, the bacon and sausage was basically burnt, the egg dry and the cheese burnt. There wasn't anything right about this bowl.
On a side note the breakfast bowl was $13! Maybe at a high end restaurant and maybe if it was executed well but not here. The silverware was spotted and dirty, the cloth napkins were stained, the food was bad. I'd suggest someone reevaluate the situation at this place or shut it down. Gross!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Thumbellina B.Wilmington, NC6797141Jun 14, 2019Updated review
I went up to my room after taking two bites of the horrible steak and peppers philly cheese sub.....i threw up. That told me it was very old food and not to be trusted.
I called C&G to tell them and the girl said " thanks I'll let the kitchen know"
It ruined my day. I stayed in bed after that and sipped 7up. I didnt get a chance to play craps the remainder of the day, unfortunately.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jun 10, 2019Previous reviewOur table ordered steak & eggs. It was great. Another ordered a hamburger it was tasty and cooked well. I Ordered a steak philly. Unfortunately, it was the worst philly cheese i ever had. It was old meat n soggy peppers in a processed canned sauce. Bun was wet and soggy. See photo.
The waitress JACKIE was very apologetic and attentive. They took the philly off my bill. Its was a class 2 sandwich which you'd find at a gas station quick food mart.May 29, 2018Previous reviewI've enjoyed food at C &G for years. Their salad bar was always a healthy late night choice. Unfortunately, there's less and less on the salad bar and the two soups are always the same! I can see keeping the seafood gumbo, because its good. But potatoe soup? Bean soup? That looks like left overs in a pot. Yuk. How about Chicken bow tie or lentil and ham or beef and vegtables?
The burgers are the best here! When in doubt, get their burgers. Fresh bun, lett.tom.onion with a nice size juicy Patty. Will satisfy your hunger. Order the fries crisp. Say it twice or theyll be limp and blonde.
Ok, they have corn beef ruben on the menu! I was so excited to see that! A grilled ruben is fresh cut corn beef, piled high on rye with kraut, swiss cheese and thousand island sauce!! Unfortunately, C&G use a pressed corn beef. No joke. See photo. It was rubbery& tasteless and horrible. Plus the kraut was a smear of minced kraut? Cheese was a 1inch area and the bread was toasted but soggy.
Since i dissected the sandwich and took two bites,. I didnt ask to be reimbursed. Ill never ever order it again.
The wait staff at C& G are steller folks. They're always Pleasent and helpful.
The island view has a marvelous buffet! It always impresses me. The food is quality and an enormous variety. Their help are equally of quality! Peepsie, Pearla, Kym, and Mike are our favorite wait staff at the buffet. Plus, they keep it so clean!! I don't know how they do it.
I travel to the island view casino 6-7 times a year
