We had a wonderful stay at this campground recently and it quickly became one of our favorites. It's off the beaten trail, with not alot to do nearby, but the campground provided enough activities and amenities to keep us entertained. They also do not have cable, which is usually a deal breaker for us, but we managed to keep busy.

I do think we would have had a different experience had our campsite been in a different location. We travel with grand-kids so we like to be close to the pool, playgrounds, etc. Our location was not only right across from the pool, but easily walk-able to the playground, store, cafe, and pavilion where events are often held. Our spot had a strange layout, but did have ample parking for two vehicles, and our favorite feature was the charming stream that ran through our site. The girls liked to frolic in it and catch the "resident" frog. The one morning we were welcomed by a large crane bird mere feet away from our camper, what a sight! Our girls were in awe! However, we did find that people would come unto our site to visit the stream or short cut to the pool, which I felt was a little rude.

One reason I say our experience would have been different had we been positioned elsewhere is because we don't care for rustic, wooded lots, or long steep walks to amenties. This campground has very few lots that aren't heavily wooded. The roads leading to the sites are often rough and narrow. They do rent golf carts, which is something to keep in mind. I'd suggest reserving one at the time of booking your stay.

The office/store staff were nice, always busy, a tad slow, but totally understaffed. The store is open from 8 am to 11 pm and the hub of the campground as they preform a number of duties, in addition to opening/closing the gate (which I do wonder how that's handled when they're closed) and cashiering the store.

The pools were clean and spacious. There was a bigger one going up to 5 feet deep, and a small circular one for very small kids. There's a covered pavilion with a piano to play, and some of the activities are held here. The playground is adjacent to the pools, and was nicely equipped, although some equipment was older, and featured a large sandy area (bring your own sand toys). The highlight, and what set this campground apart was the cafe, serving a variety (a large menu actually!) of food and hand dipped ice cream. It had a diner feel inside, but also covered picnic tables to eat outside while watching your kids play. The picnic tables were old and splintery so do bring a blanket if wearing shorts. The prices were very reasonable and I loved that they had long hours. The teenage staff were pleasant and efficient too.

Some of the activities included cash bingo, kids bingo (free!), a fire truck ride, and a glow candy hunt. While they post a theme on their webpage, the actual activities aren't posted (on a wipe board outside the office) till that Friday. Do take a picture of it when you come in and refer to it as needed.

The campground also had wifi - which they admitted was poor. We relied on our Tmobile service all weekend which was fine. A fishing pond (we checked out but didn't fish but there was a huge white carp literally 3 feet long in there!), as well as the famous blue rocks. While some people climbed the rocks we stayed on the perimeter as it went for as far as the eye can see and didn't look safe. Our site did not have sewer, but I opted for honey pot service ($10 cash paid directly to worker) that I asked for and prearranged. Other sites did have sewer.

Overall a great experience and campground. Some things I think they could do better - more than one worker in the store, activities on a handout, better upkeep of the roads inside the campground, update some of the older equipment at the playground, and seal the picnic tables.

The hits for me: the cafe is pretty awesome (and accepted plastic!), the activities were cool, the bathouse by the pool was modern and exceptionally clean, and they had recycle bins for various types of waste ( a campground first!)

SIDENOTE: There's also a small fenced in playground for smaller kids, and a "hot rod" garage, which consisted of old cars - you can poke around if you want, but look and don't touch!

This review is for the hiking trails and the blue rocks. We parked at the blue rocks family campgrounds in order to access the blue rocks site. It was $8 per person to hike. They took down our information and gave us a map of the hikes.

We went on the blue hike and cut across onto the red path to go back down on the yellow path. The blue hike was very well marked with a few other parties on it. There were some narrow parts of the hike where we had to wait for others to pass. The terrain is very rocky with big rocks. There was mud and some creek water as well. It's best to wear hiking boots that protect the ankles.

The red path was not well marked and we definitely went the wrong way. Luckily we still ended up at the campsite but it was a bit confusing. Overall still a very fun day! The hike was shaded so perfect for a summer outing.

Best seasonal campground in the area. They bend over backwards to help you any way they can. The quality of people there (campers and staff) are top notch. Enjoyed every year we have been there and very affordable.

DISAPPOINTMENT!! Booked a site here, paid the fee for 6 people. A day into the trip they phoned and stated that there was a per tent fee. They charged $80 dollars extra for a second tent. There is nothing written on their site about tent fees. This is deceptive. Yes, they do state that there is a campsite fee for 4 people and a tent. I booked six people, and paid for six when only three came.
There are many campsites in this area. They will not see any of my business in the future. Beware folks, I'm not the first person they did this too. Legally I could void the transaction but you sow what you reap. Karma is a bitch.
Peaceful Woodlands Family Campground is my recommendation for honest folks. You can see the same boulder trails.

I had to cancel due to COVID related illnesses, and my family had to quarantine. They refunded less then half of what we paid. If I had know that that was what they would do maybe I should have gone! It's clear that they don't have the safety of there staff or customers in mind!! Only concerned with make a few dollars! Poor ownership poor management short sighted mentality. My family will never go here now! Plenty of other choices that are less expensive! Certainly not family friendly!!!

I stayed two nights at the Blue Rocks Family Campground in a class C 26' RV. Unluckily we woke up the first morning to go hiking and noticed that one of our tires was busted. Madness ensued. We went through three companies before we got someone qualified to assist us. In the meantime Mr. Fix-It aka Glenn assisted us with doing what we could to repair some other items broken in the melee.

In between waiting for tow companies and what not I managed to get around and explore a bit. This place is the bees knees!! There is an amazing 'boulder park' that is expansive! I climbed around a little and found a few Pokemon hiding in the nooks and crannies. I used the showers and restrooms because we had initially intended on staying one evening and didn't opt for the sewer hookup. I was delighted at the cleanliness and abundance of hot water! The walk up the top of the hill was great for me because of my addiction to my Fitbit and Pokemon Go!

I didn't get a chance to enjoy the pool or other facilities but during my walks I popped by an adorable catch and release pond, a sand volleyball court, a basketball court. Lots to do here!

The only down side were teeny little gnats, but I bought some of those 'mosquito sticks' at the store and we were saved!

I never did get to go on that full hike but I will definitely come back so I can make it to the Pinnacle!

Thank you to all who assisted us during our adventure!

Disorganized, confusing, poorly run. To start from the beginning, we were given a new campsite that was not on the map. They provided directions which were incredibly confusing and there were absolutely no signs indicating where we should go. We actually took a road to someone's house and then accidentally left the campgrounds. Friends had to drive around looking for us.

The campsite was rocky with extremely limited room to set up a tent, and certainly nothing larger that a 4 person tent would have fit. The site was sooooo far away from everything, including any bathroom. We were afraid to leave the site and not find our way back to it.

To make everything worse, we had a nice lazy morning and then headed to the boulder field only to find out that there was a wedding taking place and we couldn't climb around. Why on earth would they not have mentioned that at check in?? We would have been happy to climb in the morning, but now we have no time left. So $75 for a weekend with a shitty site and no climbing on the rocks.

We were booked from Aug 8th - Aug 10th
We had a reservation for 8 people. When we arrived the evening of the 8th and. Checked in the clerk said only 1 tent I hope and laughed. I replied no, we have three tents. I paid for additional people on the site. She said oh no, you can only have 1 tent. I said your website does not stipulate you can only have 1 tent and I paid $20 per additional person. She ok well go to the site and see if you can fit. I said ok thanks sorry for the confusion if when I booked the site it stated only 1 tent I would have gotten 3 sites. Thanks again. So we proceed to set up camp. We managed to fit the tents. It was cramped and definitely not worth the money but we tried to relax with our kids. Then around 8:30 pm the "park ranger" came and demanded an extra $70 from my husband!! I was dumbfounded. I explained everything to the ranger and she was so nasty telling me I can't just assume I can have 3 tents and that it was my problem that didn't know their 1 tent policy and to pay. I said 1st of all I didn't assume anything. I went by your website! She chuckled and continued to berate me in front of my family like I'm some type of idiot for not knowing their policy. I told well I honestly don't even have the extra money but I paid for this site if anything refund me the extra person charges and I can get the site right next to us that was empty. She said you should have done that in the 1st place. I repeated I DID NOT KNOW YOUR POLICY! she replied again that it was my problem and I needed to figure it out. I asked her to go to the owner and explain and to check the website. We shouldn't be punished for lack of information on your website. She went back and forth twice now its pushing 10 pm. She finally comes back (now much nicer) and said she spoke with the owner and that we pointed out a glitch in their system and we don't have to change anything or pay more but next time O couldn't do this ( as if I planned to pay almost $200 to cramp my family on the smallest, slanted site right on the road without even a grill on the firering) . I said thank you. Now our night was ruined. The next day we go to the pool and was denied entry stating I had to sign up prior to using the pool. I explained sorry I didn't know the lady replied well there are signs all over. I said my bad can I sign up for later? She said ok so at least we got to use the pool. (Mind you there was only like 10 people in the pool) anyhoo, now we go down to buy firewood and get yelled at in front of other guests stating we never paid for the extra tents!! My husband explained that it was all taken care of the night prior with the ranger and she said I'm calling to check. Again treating us like we are some type of criminals trying to get one over on them! I said forget this and we packed up and left that afternoon. So they got paid for two days when we stayed about 15 hours! The employees are not nice and respectful at all. We will never be back.

We just did our first hiking trip this past weekend and decided to stay out at a campground in order to get the full experience. My boyfriend was able to find this place, and on our drive up, we were able to book our spot with no hassle.
The rep was super helpful and accommodated to our request of a spot with minimal trees to see the sky, and gave us good directions as well as also recommended us to do our hike before checking in.
At the campground, there is a store for any food, snacks and firewood as well as someone that is there until 11pm. The grounds are secure and have a lot of amenities including multiple play areas for kids, a pool, bathrooms, diners and activities every night.
We were able to use the map and directions they gave us in order to easily find our spot, and it was so perfect. Each spot has a bench and a fire pit and is super comfortable with a lot of privacy. It was also cool to see how everyone else occupied their spots and what cool camping gear they have.
This site is close to a lot of hiking trails and even has entrances to some!
I will definitely recommend this place as well as make another trip up!
