Best Western Merry Manor Inn

Pros- reasonably priced, 10 minutes from downtown or the airport, free breakfast, nice pool and (unexpectedly) a massage chair in every room. #1 best attribute is how quiet it is here, I thought we would have a lot of noise from hallway but the nights were dead quiet and being farther from the city means no street/crowds noise. Cons- interiors are dated, not walkable to local attractions. I did enjoy the convenience of being close to a coffee place (Aroma Joe's), sandwich place (Indy's sandwich) and a gas station. Have to call front desk if you want your room cleaned/bed made/towels replaced.

Expedia let us to Merry Manor with a great deal. Last summer when we decided to stay a night in Portland we ended up at a roach motel. This year- not the case! We spent about $100 bucks. We got a clean establishment, a hot tub, kiddie pool, a regular pool and a decent continental breakfast with safe parking. We had a great view of the pool area, this establishment has pack and plays which we needed and easy access to everywhere we were headed in the area.

Total win for one night!

Great hotel located in South Portland. Amazing value for what you get. Rooms are super spacious and comfy, great free breakfast, pool and hot tub. Less than 1 mile to downtown Portland. The staff here are awesome. And they keep this place looking beautiful maintained inside and out.

My husband and I were on the search for an affordable hotel with decent reviews, and in a good location, for 1 night. After doing a long google search, we settled on Best Western. Check-in was very smooth, and the front desk staff was very nice and friendly. They were kind enough to suggest nearby food places for us to try.

The area was very diverse, and there were a lot of various restaurant in a pretty close distance. As far as the stay goes, we were only there for a night, but we have zero complaints. The room was clean with no issues. The bed was comfy as well. It wasn't anything grand or spectacular, but it was still a great experience. If you are ever in the area and looking for a clean and decently priced stay, check out this place.

Decent enough but very little care to correct the very visible and loose fixtures. Worked in a hotel in NY for years and these things would never have gotten past the housekeeping Mgr. or Maintenance dept. should do routine checks.

One part animal shelter (barking dogs), one part day care center (kids running around everywhere). If you value quiet, seek other accommodations.

This was an overall pretty great stay for what me and my boyfriend were looking for. Something affordable near Portland and I appreciated some of their extra amenities. The only downside is it's not super modern but if you can overlook that, you're pretty much golden. We got a king sized tempur-pedic bed that was amazingly comfy and the pillow/sheets were great. There was a massage chair in the room that I had requested (thanks to others for mentioning it!) and I truly loved having that - so fantastic! There were actually 3 pools.. a big one, a small one and a hot tub, and I really enjoyed using that and the pool deck - it was pretty with lights and a waterfall. The breakfast actually had a good amount of variety - I enjoyed it more than my boyfriend.. I think he was less into having to deal with other hotel guests around which I could understand. I stayed labor day weekend and we heard dogs barking so I think people were allowed to have dogs stay and that was annoying.. also you could hear other visitors through the walls. I think the least pleasant thing was when we walked into our room it smelled pretty musty - I think it's just from being older or something. It would be great if they could work on airing it out and give it a nicer scent. The front desk and other staff were hospitable. Somehow they didn't clean our room while we were there but we didn't mind as we just were there a couple of nights. We took Lyft/Uber rides into Portland for about $10 each way which was great. We were given a guest parking pass for the car which was good too. Honestly I think it's a pretty decent place if you're looking for a cozy place to stay and don't want to break the bank.

The lobby seemed outdated. Room was clean. Pool is just an outdoor pool. They need a bigger breakfast area. Breakfast was good, pretty typical continental stuff with a few hot items.

Glad we booked this back in March for just over $100 with AAA discount. Apparently event prices were were in effect as expected, for almost $100 more a night
They even upgraded our room free of charge to a suite with fireplace and the sleep was VERY comfortable
Staff was very friendly
Rooms were nice, slightly outdated, but I'm just sleeping.
Maid service is doing a great job with their limited staff at keeping this nice place clean. Highly recommended

My daughter and I made plans to attend the murder mystery dinner at Best Western. We found out when making our reservation they were offering an incredible package deal. A room for the night, a murder mystery dinner and a hot breakfast for a great price! Sign us up!

When we arrived the very knowledgeable front desk staff explained to us about the event and all the amenities the hotel offered. They gave us our tickets to the event, our room key and off we went. Our room was very nice, clean and quiet. It overlooked the outdoor heated pool. The pool is so cool! Swimming outdoors in Maine in the winter months is never anything you would do. It's just to cold! Best Western designed this huge heated pool so you can enjoy all 4 seasons!

We will definitely stay here again. Looking forward to the next Lafayette Family Fundraiser for Cancer.
