This place spontaneously taught my toddler the phrase "yummy cheese fries." She was right about that. It's all we've tried there but 10/10 would recommend.
Edit: we just ate the train wreck Philly cheesesteak and it was STELLAR.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jennifer B.East Brunswick, NJ8110Feb 12, 2024
Came here because I absolutely LOVE Cajun/New Orleans cuisine. The menu looked promising, lots of New Orleans favorites. I had no idea how big the gumbo dishes were, so I ordered what I thought was a cup of their chicken and andouille gumbo, with a blackened catfish po'boy as my main meal.
The service was quick and friendly, and the Market was relatively uncrowded since it was Super Bowl Sunday. The chicken and andouille gumbo was extremely filling, and one of the best things I've ever tasted. A meal in itself.
The Po'boy, however, was disappointing. Instead of topping the fish with remoulade, they soaked it into the bread, and there was soooo much lettuce in between. The bread was too thick, so half of the sandwich ended up just bread and lettuce. The piece of fish (which had barely a kick) was just perched on top, almost as an afterthought. My companion had the fried shrimp Po'Boy and really liked hers though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jason B.Escondido, CA3058Dec 2, 2023
Excellent food and service. I was in and out in 20 mins during a trade show.
Try the chicken andouille gumbo.Helpful 0Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 23, 20241 check-in
On this rainy Saturday , decided to grab some food to go from Reading terminal. Beck's Cajun cafe caught my eye so I ordered the shrimp platter with red beans and rice. I wish the Red beans and rice was placed in a different to go container from the fried shrimp. Some of the shrimp were soggy because sauce from the rice dripped onto them. The red beans and rice is flavorful but I prefer a little more heat ( spice ). The service was quick and friendly.

This really hit the spot! We had a day trip to Philly & stopped by the reading terminal market around lunch time to grab a bite to eat. I'm glad we found this Cajun place since I really enjoyed it! I was worried the po boy would come out with lots of sauce but thankfully it was the right amount of green, crisp, & flavor in my opinion. I definitely added some hot sauce though. As for beignets, those were ok, not amazing but it was nice to have something sweet!

I sat at this counter, anticipating an oyster Poboy, and was quite disappointed that they were out of oysters. Our server was so pleasant that we decided to stay in order something else on the menu. Great decision!
My partner in fun ordered blackened catfish platter, and I ordered the shrimp and crawfish etouffee. We had really good grilled cornbread, which accompanied our plates.
The flavors were spot on and the spice was definitely there. we had an enjoyable lunch overall.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 2, 2024
I cannot begin to put into words how delicious this Gator Gumbo was. The flavors were absolutely amazing and the portion for the price was reasonable. Everyone who worked there were non-stop, but super polite.

One of my favorite spots in Reading Terminal Market! Very authentic Cajun food. You can sit at the counter or take your meal to go. The staff will always offer you samples to help decide what to order. I definitely recommend the breakfast po boy with andouille sausage!

One of the few places that have counter seating if you want to eat in the market (seating not allowed for take-out orders). They were giving out free samples of the chicken gumbo which was spicy and so flavorful.
If you're planning to try out multiple spots in the market, two people sharing a dish may be a good idea. We shared a blackened catfish platter which comes with grilled cornbread and your choice of rice. For an extra charge we substituted out the rice for jambalaya. The catfish hit the spot and that jambalaya was addicting to eat- the spices, the varying textures- I wish there were more. The service was fast and efficient, do note there's no free tap water.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
