Always and great place to duck away from the world for a little while and get lost in your imagination.

I came by Barnes & Noble on my birthday earlier in January to essentially buy myself a bday present. I love books but especially during tough times as it helps me escape whatever I am going thru. I also will not be going out much, as my mother would be starting chemo in a few days. Due to covid still being a thing, I cannot risk going out and getting anything and transmitting it to my mom as her immune system will be nonexistent during chemo. I have a large stack of books ready to help me thru this time, and I wanted to add one more: Robert Jordan's The Eye of the World, the first book in his Wheel of Time series. I watched the first season of Wheel of Time on Amazon, and I wanted to read the full story.

So i came into this Barnes & Noble, for the first time. Ive been to many, mostly the one in Coral Gables and the one in Florida International University when I lived down in Miami. In comparison to both of them, this one is way smaller. I also checked out their movie/video area just to see if there was anything I wanted... it was sparse

Still it had what I needed, and a quick trip to the check out line had me out with the book I wanted.

Pretty large bookstore for being in the mall. Lots of interesting gifts, cards, and toys displayed. Good to see so many magazines and picked up a few I'd never heard of while there.

I wasn't impressed. I am a book lover and use the stores to buy books when I am looking for something to read. I like to walk in, pick up a book and read part of a book to make sure it interests me before purchasing.

However, this store was a little confusing than other Barnes and Nobles I visited. Suggested readings, new paperbacks, and such were not set out like other Barnes and Nobles stores visited in the past.

We actually had to ask where their classic session was located. We were told in the fiction area by name of the author. Makes sense but seriously? Normally there is a shelf, display or table with these authors.

Additionally, in the past, I would walk in other stores and could spend a half and hour or hour on books laid out on their table tops as we enter the store. Not this store. Suggestions for non or fiction books on shelves as you walk in from the parking lot wasn't any help. Going to the history area and books are packed in like a library with no suggestions or front facing. I can't buy a book for which I don't know about.

We walked out with two books for my son. One which he wanted and one that I suggested for him. No impulse purchases.

The bookstore is great! Every time I go to the mall, I ALWAYS go to BN and browse and buy. Having said that...they men's room is disgusting. The last 4 or 5 times I've been there (over the course of 6 months most likely) the rest room has been very gross. The smell is insane, yes I know it happens, but the floor is sticky. The smell is thick and palatable. I know stuff smells etc, but it should not be this bad every single time I go in there! I always use the rest room and it's gotten the point I know it's going to be awful before I go in. IDK if they aren't cleaning it at all, but it's really pathetic that the main mall rest rooms with tons and tons of people going in and out are better than the one located inside the store. It seems like no one cleans them at all.

Today, my sons and I browsed the selection at Barnes and Noble. They have an expansive store with any book imaginable. I liked the layout of the store. There are 2 main entrances. One located inside the mall and another exterior entrance that allows entry directly into the store. There are also 2 registers, each located at an entry door. The entrance closest to the exterior door is where you also find the cozy Starbucks cafe. The Starbucks offers the same menu items as most, with the exception of Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes. I can attest that these said cheesecakes are absolutely delicious.

What I really liked: books, books, and more books. The store is large and has such a large selection of books. Any genre of book can be easily located. They have signs located above the cases to let you know where each section is located. The seem to stock a fair number of all books in stock.

What was ok: should you have a question, it's best to ask the person located center store kiosk, as the clerks at each register are unable to assist, or so I was told.

What if didn't care for: we checked out at the rear entrance. The service clerk was less than pleasant, giving her the benefit of the doubt, today was hot and muggy and maybe she was ready to go home. Either way, honey attracts more bees than vinegar, meaning "stop being a complete sourpus on the job lady". I prefer a pleasant courteous shopping experience and this wasn't awful, but left something to be desired.

All in all, I'll be back over and over again. The space is quiet and calming and just right if you want to find a book and take a seat to enjoy it for a moment.

Huge selection of books, art supplies and small selection of greeting cards. Starbucks inside is a plus. Service desk is helpful, but otherwise, don't expect help or even to find an associate in the aisles. LBH, Barnes and Nobles is akin to the self service checkout at a grocery store- which is fine as long as you know what to expect. Cashiers dont offer anything extra either. But again, book selection is good.

Today I went to Barnes and Noble to find a specific children's book for my student teaching lesson. I looked online ahead of time and was pleased to see that they had it. I went into the store and headed back to the children's section. Another customer was using a computer finder to look for a book, so I assumed customers were able to use it. I went after them to quickly search the book when an employee came out from the bathroom and rudely stepped in front of me saying nothing. I said "I'm sorry, am I not able to use this?" and she laughed and rolled her eyes and said "no." Then said "is there something you need?" I said it was the book I had just looked up. She says nothing, walks over to a shelf, grabs the book, hands it over to me, and walks away. Not to mention, the cover of the book had a small rip in it, but at that point I didn't want to turn around and ask for her help again. I felt bad and embarrassed that the computer was not for public use but she could have politely told me this. Her attitude and demeanor was not polite and very unprofessional.

We have visited this Barnes & Noble over the past year on several occasions and have always had an enjoyable experience, both dining in the coffee shop, just relaxing and reading, and shopping for a special book or gift.

If you need to use the restroom, they are located way in the back past the children's book area. Great way to check out the latest temptation for the youngsters!

They have a nice selection of games, puzzles, and a great selection of Lego kits. The music and video section also carries a variety of classic vinyl albums now (wishing Id' have saved my old ones after seeing the prices on some of these).

The barista in the coffee shop always preps or favorite Starbucks flavor perfectly every time we visit.
