Complete ripoff. Go to a "local" vet and not a corporate vet. And if you, like me lives nearby go
To a vet out of our zip code for better pricing. They want to charge me $89 for an office visit to clip one toenail my dog was whining about because it poked her skin on the pad of her foot. They said they'd add
Onto that $89 price if I wanted the rest of her nails clipped. PetSmart charges much less to clip their nails and out in San Marcos I paid $25 to get her nails done and the one that was touching her skin. Thankfully I didn't and never will use any Banfield.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My experience at Banfield Encinitas was extremely disappointing. Despite having an appointment for simple vaccinations, I waited a staggering hour and a half before my dogs were seen. To add insult to injury, I was charged an exam fee, yet the examination performed by Dr Admani, was cursory at best.
For example, despite my dog having a well-known heart murmur that has been readily detected by every other veterinarian he has seen, Dr Admani at Banfield Encinitas failed to hear it. This raises serious concerns about the competency and thoroughness of their examinations. It's alarming when such critical health issues are overlooked, potentially putting the well-being of pets at risk.
Furthermore, I was informed of a pre-authorization for $150 for the exam, which I never signed nor authorized. This lack of transparency and disregard for customer consent is unacceptable.
The front desk worker, Krista, was unprofessional, and their behavior towards customers was less than satisfactory.
For example, I received a phone call the day prior asking me to call back to confirm the appointment which I did. Krista put me on hold and then forgot about it for 20. minutes. Later, she said that office visits are charged even with vaccines, and that that information is conveyed on the phone but since I had booked online that's why I wasn't aware. When I told her that I talked to her on the phone the day before and that had not been brought up she had no answer.
Overall, the level of service and professionalism at Banfield Encinitas fell far below expectations. I strongly advise others to consider alternative options for their pets' care.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Safe to say the worst vet I've ever been to. Terrible customer service and completely unorganized with little empathy towards animals that are clearly sick or in pain.
Please, if you read this DO NOT come to this vet!!!!
Trust me it's worth it to go to a different vet, even if it's a bit more expensive... they have 2.5 stars for a reason...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I switched to Encinitas Banfield after multiple issues with a different clinic! Let me tell you all Banfield's are Not the same!! It is the staff not the name and the Banfield Encinitas staff are outstanding! All the front office staff and vets are friendly, informative and respectful.

Dr.Ryan is great and really cares about the animals he takes care of. My dog had a bump on her head and he gave me a few options of how to help her.Dr.Ryan removed the bump and we were home in a few hours. I recommend Banfield Hospital, they are really good.

Will never be coming back here. I brought my dog in for his routine dental cleaning. My dog is incredibly healthy with no issues, but after I picked him up, he could not even put weight on one of his front paws. I was not able to walk him for three weeks after this. I took him to another location a few days later, and they said that it was likely a muscle strain of some kind and prescribed an anti-inflammatory. When I called the Encinitas location to speak with someone about this, they tried to dismiss it as arthritis or other age related issues. I told them over and over that he did not come in with a limp of any sort, but now can barely walk. I asked for a refund on the anti-inflammatory medication and asked that any diagnostic testing or further medication related to this be compensated. After two weeks of trying to get a hold of the practice manager, I spoke with Cassandra, who told me that they would refund the prescription, but would no longer be compensating any further medication. She told me I would need to come in and have further diagnostic testing done, out of my pocket. She said that this was directly from the Director of the location and I asked to speak with this person. She told me "he will get to you when he can." Very disappointed that this was not handled with more care and concern to address an injury that was so obviously caused during his stay at this clinic.
Update: sent an email 2+ weeks ago to the requested email address & received an automated email back stating I would be contacted within 3-5 days. I've received no response since. Based on the interactions I had with the vet & the assistant at my dog's last visit with you & the total silence to my email, I really wonder what your policies are for animals injured in your care. Apparently it is radio silence.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

My experience could have been better, unfortunately their receptionist Jennifer was rude, short and Unknowledgeable , unwilling to get answers to our questions and just plain rude. She looked aggravated and annoyed. We came in for a wellness check up for my dog, Dr. Aisha Admani was wonderful, and Carefully explained routine wellness check up and after the exam offered the wellness plan. She left me in the room with her assistance to further explain the recommendations she had for my dog. Unfortunately her hired help is lacking in service. Every question I had was replied with half way I was left to guess outcomes and prices. I was rushed after the exam unable to gather the appropriate information to make a educated decision about their Optimum Wellness Plan
. the worst was Jennifer in reception; who first refused to provide details about the wellness plan said she would email the information. Fortunately, Dr.Aisha provided the brochure. I had further questions that Jennifer plainly refused to answer said I needed to get further details on my own accord; she just did not know anything about prices or medical records or requirements plainly did not know anything! She was rude and very short with her responses seemed very eager for us to leave. Her annoyed gestures and eye rolling not welcoming to patients shows she hates her job! It's a terrible shame because Dr. Aisha Admani was very helpful and truly showed her passion for her skill. Awesome doctor but terrible staff. Although The blonde receptionist was very nice and tried to make up for Jennifer's behavior it was on our wait out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The worst vet ever. Will NEVER be returning to this clinic. All around bad experience in every way. My dog is the sweetest dog ever. He HATED every person here. And I can't blame him. As a result of their terrible care, he ended up getting pretty sick. We took him to Rei Tanaka at Santa Fe Animal Clinic. Such a night and day difference with the quality of service between Banfield and Santa Fe Clinic. If you care about your pets please DON'T take them to Banfield. Take them to Santa Fe Clinic instead
