Axis Pizza

3.5 stars - decent, cheapish pizza and other food in the University city area. Their partner store Alegros which is a few blocks away is better, but Axis is not bad for a quick dinner stop.

Their pizza was a little soggy, as in we couldn't pick up the slices without everything flopping off, but if you don't mind having to man handle your slices it's solidly okay. The crust was the best part and I'm not usually a crust person. The worker told us a small was a personal size, but two people could probably share a small (the large was way too big for two of us, we barely finished half of it)

The Stromboli was HUGE which we were not expecting, and the sauce comes on the side. Their fries were very good (probably the best thing) and we appreciated a cheese-free pizza option for lactose intolerance, vegans, or any other cheese haters.

It was my last day in Philly and we decided to grab pizza at Axis which was really close to our hotel. The weather was horrid and so we didn't want anything too far. The place is large but not quite inviting. It's a bit too large and it was empty. I'm sure the wet and windy weather outside got translated indoors! Anyways, good thing we didn't let the ambiance deter us from ordering food. They have a lot of options. Of course, as is the case when there are a lot of options, we didn't know what to choose. We asked if we could get a half margarita + half garlic white pizza and the person helping us checked with the cook and yes, they were able to oblige our request. The pizza was okay; thin, but really oily! I had to pat the excess oil off with a napkin. It could be the white sauce garlic is just oilier. The margarita pizza was fine, too. The marinara was a bit too thick for my taste.

Nice place to grab lunch to go or sit down and eat. The gentlemen here are very kind and friendly. I'll definitely be back.

Great pizza love the salads and other food there. Meat lovers is my favorite. It's a nice setting with tv for your watching pleasure. Great helpful staff.

Came to Philly on a business trip and stumbled upon this place looking for breakfast. And Wow! This place did not blow the assignment. Order the pancake platter with eggs and bacon and it did not break the bank. Under $15 with tax. You get three huge pancakes that I dare you to try to finish.

You don't listen asked for a special Stromboli and a regular you made 2 reg were like 5 onions and 3 green peppers y'all suck keep your nasty sauce Never Again your nasty sauce never never never no salt no pepper y'all don't even care

This place was great! We visited here from out of town and ordered a pizza. The pizza was one of the best I've ever had! Nice crust with plenty of toppings. The service was slow but the ambiance was welcoming!

I was staying in the Sheraton next door for an extremely early appointment at Presbyterian, and asked the receptionist the best place to get a cheesesteak nearby. She recommended this place and indicated that she just had one for dinner. The cheesesteak was excellent! I was born and raised in Philly and this is a solid cheesesteak! It couldn't be any nearer, it's right across the street from the Sheraton parking garage entrance .
