Just took my car to Army mechanics in Escondido.
Impeccable service.
The owner, Dave had originally come out to do some mobile work on my daughters car and give a quote. He was such an honest, kind and genuine professional, I inquired again for some work on my A/C.
Took my car out to their shop today and was really impressed by their team: honest accountable, genuine good people. Dave, Memo and Jose were awesome!!! I will be bringing my cars to them again, and I highly recommend to anyone to give this business a try. They operate as mobile mechanics and also they have a shop in Escondido.
These guys are great, I am stoked I found a new mechanic! Go Army Mechanics!!
Thanks again
Warmest Regards,
Laura LisaHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kawika S.Oceanside, CA0104Feb 23, 2022

Absolutely amazing repair shop and staff. Responsive and extremely fair. Called Friday afternoon for a service quote. Able to get me in same day for drop off and more than fair pricing. Definitely my new go to and only shop going forward. Thank you everyone at Army Mechanics!

I highly recommend Army Mechanics as they really helped me through a pinch and saved me a ton of money that I would have paid through the Dodge dealership. Very honest, straight forward with no hidden fees. Very important during these rough times!!

While I appreciate a business owner trying to make amends for poor practices, it speaks volumes when they take a year and a half to do so and then they try to make it out like there's been some sort of misunderstanding on my part.
No, there was no misunderstanding. David's employee was negligent in his service and they expected me to pay for it.
Warranties may be industry standard but communication can make or break a customer relationship. When you ignore a customer who informs you of failed product/service (regardless of warranty) after your staff "drops the ball" that just reinforces the negative experience and ensures there is no relationship.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We are sorry you had a negative experience with us , We try to take care of all our clients. We have never been know to double up on our charges this is the type of thing our business stands against in every way. If you look at our reviews even negative reviews there is never a mention of up selling or charging doble as your stating however if you feel this way please reach out to us so we can correct the issue. As far as a warranty goes it's part of our business that why we state our warranty before any repairs are made and our warranty falls under 95% of all auto repair shops warranty guidelines which is 90 days parts and labor
Apr 12, 2017Previous reviewGo elsewhere if you need work done. I had really wanted to support a veteran owned & operated business. Unfortunately, the business practices here make that impossible to do.
They tried to double up on labor costs through unprofessional conduct, and when I shared this with David (the owner) he simply offered to knock the price down a smidge. No, I'm not paying more for labor than is fair.
Then, the work that they did do failed. It was out of warranty, so I didn't expect them to do much. I shared the issue with David just out of courtesy and didn't hear a peep back from him.
Finally, don't give them your email address. They'll spam you constantly. I don't know how many times I have unsubscribed, they keep adding me to their lists. - Laura M.San Diego, CA022Feb 24, 2022
Dave and the guys at Army Mechanics thoroughly investigated the problems I was having with my vehicle. They kept in close communication every step of the way, explaining what they had discovered and helping me to make decisions regarding repairs. I really appreciate the hard working and honest mechanics-I highly recommend this business!

On my way to a family emergency I pulled over for fuel in the middle of nowhere. After filling up with fuel my truck would not start. I sat there for over an hour trying everything to start it, to no avail.
I admitted defeat and it was time to enlist the help of an expert. I called Army Mechanics and left a message and David called back immediately.
I explained what was going on and he told me he was on another job and would be able to get to me in a couple of hours as soon as he was done.
I explained that I had a family emergency going on and that I needed to get on the road sooner than that.
So what happened next was truly remarkable and extremely refreshing. David told me what the potential problems and fixes could be and he started going over some trouble shooting over the phone.
So I got on my back and shimmied under my truck. Per his instructions I tapped firmly on a gray box in-between the front and back axles underneath my truck. I crawled my way out, covered in grime and oil with my dignity barely in tact. I put the key in the ignition and turn it over...and what do you know, it starts right up and I made it to my family emergency just in the nick of time.
Without these lads I'd have been sat there all day in the baking heat and not been on hand to help my family. Not to mention, another company might have taken me to the cleaners. I've had some bad experiences in the past with mechanics and you just don't know who is trust worthy. It's a bit of a lottery.
These lads are obviously highly skilled and knowledgeable and have an abundance of integrity.
Next time I need work on any of my vehicles I won't be using anyone else.
If you need someone you can trust then I highly recommend that you use these lads. I can't speak highly enough of them or thank them enough.
Cheers!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - J A.Spring Valley, CA1562May 22, 2018
Don't give up on a Team that won't give up on you. I have been with Army mechanics since 2011 my neighbor recommended the shop he was Air Force and I was Navy. Veterans are honestly the best! David is a solid businessman. I bought my truck from an auction and of course it had many hidden surprises. We have found and resolved all the surprises.
I waited to give my review, (not all the surprises were good, in fact lessor and lesser degrees of terrible) because most reviews are done when the person is either very happy or very angry. That is not a reliable source of information. I haven't had any work done in the last year and I still wholeheartedly recommend David's Shop. When you look back one year later and know you made the right choice and you would leave a review about the service that's a rock solid recommendation.
We had good times and rough times figuring out the puzzle that I purchased but I bought a good truck and found a great mechanic in the process. Don't give up on your Veterans and David is honest.
Go Navy!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I can't say enough about the guys at Army Mechanics, specifically Jose. To say Jose went above and beyond is an understatement. They stand by their work and take care of their customers.
We had an issue with a fuel pump in our Ford diesel superduty and Jose came all the way down to our house to diagnose the issue and had it towed to their shop, which took that huge hassle off of our shoulders.
Driving the truck back home, we ran out of gas (didn't know this is what happened) and Jose came down to us stranded on the freeway, followed the tow truck to a gas station, and helped clear air out of the fuel line and stayed with us until the truck was back up and running. Then even followed us all the way back home to make sure everything was good. And didn't charge a DIME.
I'll say it again - They stand by their work and take care of their customers. 100%.
Their pricing is beyond fair and transparent and I just couldn't ask for more out of a mechanic. They know their stuff too!!!! They're skilled and extremely knowledgeable in Diesel engines. No hidden prices, no surprises, discounts wherever they can give them.
We will never use another company. Can't say enough positive things about Army Mechanics. We are forever grateful we found them!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christian A.Carlsbad, CA036Oct 11, 2019
This is the second time I have ever written a review on Yelp and I think this one is well deserved. When it comes to finding an honest establishment that is willing to work on older and more obscure vehicles like a Mazda RX7 and actually put forth the attention to detail one would expect from an enthusiast platform. I can only be taken aback and thoroughly impressed by the hospitality and the service I was provided with at Army Mechanics by Dave and Jose.
I was quoted a fair price. I wasn't presented with some kind of astronomical quote.
The job included the swapping out of my original factory transmission with a refreshed and rebuilt one I had just gotten, having the clutch replaced with a new OEM Exedy unit, having the rear main seal replaced, the flywheel resurfaced and the inclusion of various sorts of sensor replacement and some other minor labor added in like a transmission mount. My total came to around $660 dollars.
That is more than fair, needless to say I thought Dave and Jose (Jose, bless his heart, having to work on my GSL-SE) deserved much more. And really, its always good to make sure to try and put forth a good bit extra, I am very grateful for their hard work and it is very much appreciated that I have my daily driver back in great working order!
On a side note, their facilities are very well maintained. You can tell that as a Veteran owned and operated business, being prior service they have instilled a great sense of pride in what they do and you can feel it emanating from not only the automotive work they have put forth. You can see it in their work spaces, just like how it is done in active duty.
If you are in this Escondido, San Marcos, Carlsbad, etc area. and are looking for a trustworthy automotive establishment. I highly recommend anyone considering having their vehicle serviced giving Army Mechanics a call.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
