Americas Best Value Inn Rancho Palos Verdes

I'm a hotel critic and I've stayed in many hotels along the coast and Central Valley, this hotel is lacking charm, comfort, and quietness. The rooms are rather gloomy, with a film of some kind on the windows so you can't look out, the bed was so squeaky and you sank to the middle, your feet are higher then your head, the pillows are hard as a rock, the parking is very tight, and people are going in and out at all hours, if your just looking for a place to take a shower and stay just to sleep, not a comfortable sleep mind you, this might be the place for you, but I don't recommend for couples or anyone on a relaxing vacation, the gal at the front desk is very sweet, and helpful kudos to her, when you go into the lobby the door is a little daunting and the lobby lacks any kind of welcoming and charm, sorry for the low review but honest is best!

Everything was fine except for a room next to me smoking drugs (extreme foul odor, most likely a mix of marijuana, heroin/fentanyl/crystal meth, and I only know this because I had to move out of my apartment for the same exact problem and you'd just initially think it's mold or bad plumbing, most people wouldn't know what it is right off, but I assure you it's toxic hard drug smoking going on for a fact). There were 3 police cars apparently inspecting and searching an abandoned old car in the hotel parking lot, which makes sense in these terms as well.

I didn't think there was a "bad area" in Palos Verdes. You might not know that either, so now you know.

Other than that, front desk clerk was very nice, easy check in. The rooms are not exactly updated, but if it weren't for the obvious drug use in at least one room next to me, it would be cute and acceptable. The bed was comfortable enough and pillows soft. TV was good, coffee maker was decent hotel coffee style, and the toiletries were spa style, smelled really nice (bergamot) which I appreciate. The room was spacious enough and had a microwave and refrigerator. The shower was hot and nice, too.

I knocked off stars specifically for the drug use because I couldn't sleep at all and I had to blast the heater to reduce the odor. I can safely make this assessment on the smell for unfortunate knowledge of the smell, and the reason why I stayed in a hotel to begin with, because smokers in my building where I just had to move out of because the management couldn't do anything about the smoking due to Covid-19 renter protections.

The drug use has become a pretty big problem everywhere in Southern California and it's not just marijuana, though it is that as well as hard drugs in hotels all around, I say this isn't to make property owners and customers aware.

Lastly, upon leaving I realized sunglasses were stolen from my truck so I am bringing the review to 2 stars because they do need to clean up this act here.

Edit: upon further though I am forced to bring this to one star because I have a strong suspicion there are full time drug dealers living there. I'm basing this on facts of my stay and recent knowledge. I'd recommend this hotel except for the drug related issues, abandoned car in parking lot and theft from my car, which I had a strong feeling would happen as well.

Absolutely horrible hotel stay. I booked online and the price charged was $150. The room was filthy dirty, smelled, dirty linens and bathroom. The tables were burned with cigarettes. The bed was hard and likely 30 years old. I complained to the manager the next morning. Sent an email to Sam(mgr.) Got an apologetic reply and promise of refund that I never received.

Let me just start off by saying this place is absolutely disgusting. Everything from the rude receptionist people from inside of the rooms have roaches and cigarette burn marks everywhere the guy and his wife are absolutely disgusting and rude

Do not stay at this hotel. They do not treat you with any respect or care what you have to say, whenever I attempted to address a concern or complaint the "owner" would yell over me and deny there being any problems. His wife doesn't understand English and is constantly making mistakes. I paid for a two bed room and used 20 of my points only for her to put me in the worst room they had,first off the room had one bed, no lamps, an ugly/itchy/ outdated bedspread, old carpet that smelled like cigarettes/ mildew and a very small television. They do not serve breakfast as stated on the website. Also they have terrible reception and wifi barely works. Do not waste your money here. Lastly do not leave your room at night because they have very sketchy people hanging around the parking lot and coming in and out of the hotel, this is not a safe place for anyone or their family, which really surprised me being the location is considered to be set in a nicer part of town. After doing further research apparently 5 people in the last month were gun downed in the park across the street. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here, in no way is it worth it.

There's bugs all over the bedding. We were here for 5 minutes and they didn't care and refused to refund after alerting them and showing them the bugs all over the bedding. The front desk agent told me to my face that he didn't care.

I would give it no stars if that was an option. For those who are going to pay $120 a night here. Beware that their are bed bugs. I got bit last night in room 211 and when i turned on the light to see why i was so itchy i see a bed bug crawling on my pillow towards my baby. I immediately grabbed my baby got up called the front desk and requested my refund due to the situation. They told me they did a bed bug treatment that morning and they can only move me to another room but i would not be able to get my refund and i told them, im willing to comply but the next room better not have no previous bedbugs and i do not want a room that is currently going thru bedbug treatment kuz i sure did not pay $120 to sleep uncomfortable while getting bit all night and he told me then just come to the front desk and get your money back. Due your research on bedbugs they are extremely hard to get rid of and will travel with you. No thanks i am not trying to get my house infested with bedbugs

It smells like urine and marijuana when you are parking and walking up the stairs and housekeepers are rude except for one and she smiles a lot. I would not recommend you stay here go down to crown plaza or on 1st and Gaffey.
That's my experience it could be different for others.

Love this place! The owner Sam is very professional and keeps this place looking fabulous! I would give this place 5 stars!

The owner and management here are rude and intimidating. This place is a dump. It is better to avoid.
