I have been a loyal customer of African Food & Gifts in Minnesota for quite some time now, and I can confidently say that they serve the best Liberian dry rice in town. It has become my go-to dish, and I order it whenever I visit.

As someone who appreciates the authentic flavors of Liberian cuisine, I must commend African Food & Gifts for their dedication to delivering an authentic taste of Liberia. The dry rice is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the fried fish is seasoned and fried to perfection.

The take-out service at African Food & Gifts is convenient, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. I appreciate the efficiency and reliability of their take-out service, allowing me to enjoy my favorite meal in the comfort of my own home.

While my review focuses on the Liberian dry rice, it's worth noting that African Food & Gifts also offers a variety of other African dishes and a selection groceries if you want to make your own. Although I haven't explored their entire menu extensively, I can attest to the quality and authenticity of their Liberian cuisine.

The only reason I am not giving African Food & Gifts a perfect 5-star rating is that, on occasion, the wait time for take-out orders can be longer than expected. However, the delicious taste of their Liberian dry rice more than makes up for any minor inconvenience.

If you're craving a taste of Liberia and are in the Minnesota area, I highly recommend trying African Food & Gifts. Their flavorful Liberian dry rice is a standout dish that will transport you to the heart of West Africa, even if you're enjoying it from the comfort of your home.

My grandfather is from Liberia, so I've had the pleasure of tasting delicious homemade West African cuisine. Mid 2021- I was in this strip mall getting my hair done when a hairstylist from Liberia walked in with this delicious smelling food.
I asked her where she got it from, and explained to her that I have been unable to find a Liberian restaurant that taste like "home" here in the Twin Cities, and she vouched that this place was pretty good.

It's been a wrap ever since.

I order the same thing every single time, which is a bit costly. I think my entire order usually comes between $50 - $65, depending on if I get a small or large.

I order the Whole Fish with Jolof Rice, & Collard Greens with No Meat (which you can order by size, S M L XL)

The Whole Fish is nicely coated with this delicious seasoning and cooked to perfection!

      The Jolof Rice is delicious.

The Collard Greens are so good, I've never tasted greens like it! Very original taste and I love that it's served with white rice.

There is a young man who is always working, and he is very pleasant and easy to talk to.

They don't have a lot of beverage options, but they do have a small grocer isle for you to purchase miscellaneous things like rice, beans, bouyon's, beverages, etc.

There is a large parking lot, so parking should never be an issue. This is located in a strip mall so you are surrounded by many other merchants.
If you are quickly picking up, there is space for you to pull up briefly close to their entrance.

I plan to keep supporting this place. I think the food is amazing, the staff is kind, and I always have a pleasant experience.

Don't order from here they have completely gone downhill and had the nerve to raise their prices. Their potato greens reek of baking soda. I ordered oxtails for 20 dollars and I can't chew a single one and then when I had called to complain about the inedible food they hung up on me the stew was okay but they were hard as rocks and I wasted money never ordering here again not to mention last time I got palava sauce they gave me raw chicken I could of gotten salmonella.

If I pay for an large /extra large I want my food to be to the top of the container. Like this is my 3rd time noticing, and it's getting lower and lower. Great food, also We got fish gravy and there wasnt any fish in the soup just very hard crunchy pieces.

This place is my new favorite place. Wonderful food and wonderful service. I ordered the Liberian Joloff rice and it had so much flavor no disappoinment. The Cassava Leaf is okay, I've never had it before so I can't critique it too much but it was too salty for me. I recommend you try this place out. It's good to support locally owned businesses... Especially if they have good food. I live out in Shakopee and I will always make a drive to African Food and gifts for some African food!!

Food was delicious! We ordered Liberian jollof, fried okra, and sweet potato greens. The greens and okra entrees were perfect. The meat was juicy and seasoned well. The chicken that came atop the jollof was dry unfortunately, probably baked too long. The jollof was ok, not bad...not great. However, it went from ok to good after I mixed the greens with the rice. Try it!
