Marco, Polo. Marco, Polo. Marco! Polo!
Lol, remember that kids game you played in the swimming pool growing up?
Well, it has nothing to do with this airport.
However, the Marco Polo airport in Venezia is nice. Well signed, easy to navigate with good food, drink and shopping choices.
I don't think it's my favorite airport, but I like it.
A solid 4 stars. Now can I return to Venice ASAP?! That's another story...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 5208344152Jun 1, 2023
This airport has some amazing stores like Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors and other high end stores. We had no time to look since we were in a rush to get to our plane. The displays in the stores were very nice and like what you would see at a high end mall.
I did have time to look at the small restaurant duty free store right near our plane's departure area. They have an incredible selection of champagne, olive oils, perfumes, luggage, wine, pastas, limoncellos, chocolates and the list goes on. This was definitely 5 stars.
But the whole organization of the airport needs a lot of help. That is what is really important to me. I always arrive well in advance to the airport, too early. This was the first time, ever, that I have actually been in a rush at an airport. The digital signs had very little information. A lady at Security said we could put away our passports. We would not need them again. Well, we actually needed them two more times.
Just give me clear, easy to understand information regarding what gate I need to be at. The upscale offerings are nice but not what is important to me at an airport.Helpful 16Thanks 1Love this 10Oh no 0 - May 11, 2023
Marco Polo is the primary airport that serves Venice. It is on the smaller side and similar to Florence for perspective.
Despite its size it seems to be fairly efficiently run and we got our bags and were through passport control fairly quickly. For the first time on our trip customs had a few questions for us like how much money did we have with us etc, but there were polite and quick. The bathrooms were clean.
It was fun seeing a NATO E-3 and Italian AF C-130H parked on the ramp as well as the approach with its views of the lagoon and islands etc.
The exits and signs are clear cut and made navigating quite easy. It is a bit of a hike to the water taxi / water bus station but you have to option of using people movers so its not too bad. This was our only stop at this airport as we continued our journey days later by trainHelpful 7Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 0 - Jun 2, 2023
Easiest airport to navigate. Wow! It's super easy getting in and out.
You can purchase Airport shuttle bus tickets inside the airport for $10. The bus takes you to Piazza Roma and you can walk to your hotel, if it's closer to the Piazza Roma.
The upper departure terminal at Marco Pollo is so beautiful and fancy. Lots of high-end stores to shop for makeup, perfume, alcohol and food.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 11, 2023
When else can you say that you pulled up to the airport in a boat??
This was the most unique airport experience I've ever had. We arrived via Venice public transportation boat and easily walked to the check in area. We were flying Turkish Airlines and note that they are very intense and weigh every bag, even your carry on. This airport is super easy to navigate and not busy at all! We then went through security and made our way to a lounge. The lounge was large and empty. If flying international, they may have you pass through passport security which you can only do once your gate is listed which can be 1 hour before your flight. There are many places to shop to fill your time.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jun 21, 2023
We flew into this airport when we visited Italy. The airport was so easy to navigate. They had plenty of signage to help you get where you need to get to. Most of the employees we spoke to were super helpful.

Nice and clean airport. Very quick getting through security for an international flight. Bathrooms are very clean and well maintained.

Don't not be fooled by the size of this small International Airport. I was. They do not have a lot of terminals because they share terminals which was confusing until it was explained. You may not see your airline on the board. One hour before your flight is to depart, your flight information will appear on the board and the terminal number. Be sure to have you passport in your hand. You will need it a lot. Once you get through TSA the first stop is the shops to get your last gifts and lemon-cello. . If you purchase liquid's they will seal it for you.
