I recently had my daughter here at this hospital and i will start off by saying it was nothing but PERFECT! A huge shoutout to MARA in labor and delivery she made the whole experience worth it! She cared to every need that my wife needed and she wasn't just a nurse to us she actually felt like a friend! She needs to be recognized for her care of patients and hard work! Thank you Mara we can't thank you enough!

Abrazo Arrowhead Hospital: Where Sarcasm Meets Medicine!
Congratulations, Abrazo Arrowhead, you've managed to combine the charm of a sardonic stand-up comedian with the warmth of a Siberian winter. From the moment you're wheeled in by ambulance, you're greeted with the kind of bedside manner usually reserved for a root canal without anesthesia.
Their motto should be "We Hate Ourselves, So Why Shouldn't You?" Because clearly, only someone with a deep-seated loathing for humanity could find joy in prolonging patients' agony with endless waits and snide remarks.
You know you're in for a treat when the phlebotomist's language is saltier than the Dead Sea and their bedside manner is about as comforting as a slap in the face with a wet fish.
Don't bother asking about their PR spin - we're not buying it. This place is the black hole of healthcare in the Arrowhead area, sucking in hope and spitting out despair faster than you can say "malpractice lawsuit."
If Abrazo Arrowhead is on the horizon, consider barricading yourself in the ambulance and pleading for a detour. Because, let's be honest, a detour to anywhere else is preferable to the soul-crushing experience awaiting you at that hospital.
Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place like a plague-infested swamp. I wouldn't wish a visit to Abrazo Arrowhead on my worst enemy - unless, of course, they were being particularly insufferable that day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Randy K.Sun City, AZ06Mar 2, 2024
My 73 year old wife fell at home and hurt her shoulder. It was Friday morning, March 1, 2024, around 8:30 when I brought her to the ER. We have been to ERs a few times over the years, for ourselves and others, and this was the worst experience ever.
The nurse was named Carly or something like that. She showed ZERO compassion or empathy even though my wife was in pain. But that was just the beginning. We were there for around 7 hours. In that time the xrays showed a break in her shoulder but the doctor (he never introduced himself so I don't know his name) said emergency surgery was not necessary and referred us to an ortho doc. Then he disappeared to resurface a couple hours(!) later to report that my wife's sodium levels were low and they would add to an IV to get the levels up. The doc (the nurse referred to him as 'provider' so I don't even know if he is a doctor) also asked about my wife's tolerance for hydrocodone as she would be going home "in a couple of hours."
The ER was not busy even though our nurse, when I was finally able to track her down, said that it was. A few brief looks into the waiting room proved her lying. We were literally left alone until I found the nurse who said, "I'm coming back from lunch." I told the nurse we wanted to go home. I could see the 'doc' sitting in front of computer screens with his back to us. The nurse said she would tell the 'provider.'
I told the nurse that my wife needed to use the bathroom and the nurse disappeared. I asked another person walking by and then our nurse showed up and said she was waiting for discharge papers to print.
We never again saw the provider/doc. He prescribed something for nausea but not for pain. The nurse said to use OTC drugs for pain.
At no time did the nurse ever ask my wife how she was doing....during the entire 7 hours we were there. When the nurse went to retrieve a wheelchair to take my wife to front door, I noticed her chitchatting with other staff. There was nobody waiting in the waiting room.
They never removed the EEF pads stuck to my wife.
Terrible, terrible experience. They should be ashamed but that would entail some ability to feel, wouldn't it?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I arrived for a doctors appointment in the morning medical offices adjacent to Abrazo Arrowhead Hospital at 10:55 am for my 11:00 appt. Parking lot was completely full, as it often is at this time of year with our winter visitors. So, I opted for the valet service. Ron of American Valet Co. was as prompt and friendly as he was last month when I needed to use the valet services. Hang onto this gentlemen!

My nurse in the pre-op area where they get you ready for surgery could not have been nicer but was making a lot of mistakes. Ie: putting an uncapped needle down on a dirty computer desk before using it to start an IV on me.
Then, I get to the recovery area after surgery and I am literally begging the nurse: Daniel (who won't look up from his computer) for something for pain while I am crying in pain and all he says is "well yeah, they just cut through muscle... of course you're in pain." Then, when another nurse comes to give report to Daniel, daniel ASKS HER WHAT I HAD DONE... As in, he didn't even bother to look to see surgery I just had... which was an entire bladder stimulator implanted into my back.
Additionally, at no point did they call to update or get the person I had with me. They let me lay there crying without anyone to advocate for me, until they finally wheeled me out to meet him.
Abrazzo: I will also be calling to give a complaint over the phone against Daniel (and the recovery area) for overall negligence.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2Business owner information

My daughter was born In November and as I have now had time to reflect on the experience it was a pretty awful one. Some of the nurses were okay but several were rude and condescending. I had a pretty traumatic birthing experience and very little of what was being done was explained to me. If my Dr wouldn't have been there I don't know what I would have done.
Just an overall lack of basic compassion or guidance honestly. My epidural wasn't working and after hours of being in pain and nobody listening to me... a new anesthesiologist finally did a leg test on me and realized I needed more. She was able to help me and relieve me of pain in two second after I was pushing and feeling everything for several hours.
There have been a ton of issues with the billing department not sending bills to my insurance, too. I've had to call 4-5 times and they still haven't sent the appropriate bill to my insurance.
Won't be coming back if I have another child and I would t recommend this hospital to anyone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Update. Emily has a new alias, "Jade." Don't worry, same complete disregard for customer service same lack of respect for human health and life. Same lies. Try replying. You will get nothing but wasted time and frustration. It's a disgusting organization that does nothing but lie and steal. Disgusting!!!!

Aug 25, 2022Previous reviewUpdate- pro tip- Emily is perfect at imitating a bot if she isn't one. Same response I got a year ago. As of now best I can do is post as cautionary tale. Sick and twisted "business practices." Go to this place if you want to kill your finances and your time, no other purpose for it's existence. (Most issues outlined and screenshot, unfortunate bots can't read for comprehension.)
So they will spend zero time addressing flagrant abusive behaviors, put patients and their caregivers in harms way, and boy is pursuing their insane inflated and unearned bills a priority. Oh, one other priority, whining to Yelp when they get called out.
I think Emily is likely a bot, and Dr. Hickman is a nightmare any hour of the day. No knowledge of current prescription laws. No responsibility taken for the rxs written based on his license while he merrily sits and does god knows what on the computer.
The only detail the staff focused on from start to finish was my car, because I guess they want one.
Guess what, do your job to meet minimum professional standards, then focus on frivolities.
Yelp can't save you from malpractice suits. Have some respect for the medical profession and your unfortunate clients.
I wouldn't go here for a Kleenex. - Aug 20, 2021Updated review
My wife delivered here and so we had to visit some 3 times overall. My wife's OB/GYC office had 2 options and we chose this after checking with people and majorly due to the proximity reason.
Overall experience was not at all bad, however, nothing was extraordinary. While setting up the labor room they had an issue with some equipment in the first room so they had to abort after 1 hour and move us to the new labor room. Rooms are so legacy ones with decades-old equipment and even the AC thermostat that is a manual rotatory one. Not very impressed with the modernization of the rooms and the hospital overall as well. The postpartum room was fancy kind of but very small in size. The nurses and staff were nice overall during our 3 days of stay. Multiple changes happened in shifts and we never had a bad experience overall. I love their food menu though. Nice varieties and do provide included food for the accompanying partner as well. I would still recommend this hospital for maternity needs.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0Business owner information

Feb 22, 2020Previous reviewWent here to visit our friends who got a baby girl. Campus is no doubt big enough with many departments and enough outside parking too. However not so clear indication about which way to go to visit any department. We had to ask multiple places to reach to the labor ward. Atleast staff on the counters were welcoming and helpful on asking them questions.
Also, our friends told that medical staff were just fine. They didn't had doctor available and with just 1 nurse my friend did delivery. I would say little bit of carelessness from staffs end.
