Q:
Can a friend's teenage daughter join us for dinner there? Not sure if breweries allow minors. And do you have gluten free options? Thanks!

This is a full service restaurant that allows minors. People are carded at the bar, not upon entry.

Hold out is the best!! This is the place me and my boyfriend take friends and family to when they visit. The food is just always so consistent and tastes amazing.
The cobb salad is the BEST! Add crispy chicken to it! The ingredients are so fresh and high quality. Fries are also a must! If you haven't been.. GO!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 12, 2024
My favorite local brewery! I love the casual vibe and the outdoor patio you cannot beat. It's a great option to bring family and friends considering there's a coffee/cocktail spot next door as well. The line always move quick, and friendly service. Good sized parking lot in the back as well which is not common so close to downtown!
I have yet to try the food, but have liked every beer I've ordered! (Please bring back your coffee porter!!). Highly recommend!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 17, 2024
I have a feeling my rating will change upon future returns as I only had a "sample" of all that Hold Out has to offer. AKA I will be returning to try beers and other food options.
Arguably one of the better Happy Hours in town! Came upon this surprise walking by one day and felt interested in taking a peek. Shared (huge) space with Better Half, seems to be a favorite for remote work space.
Staff super friendly and happy to guide through menu.
Happy Hour includes $6 burgers (both beef smash burger and veggie burger) as well as a special on the house margaritas and, I believe, a dollar off select draft. The selection looks great!
Now, if you'd seen other reviews of mine you'd know I'm down for a good burger. While this burger doesn't beat some of the others in Austin, this deal alone makes it worthwhile. Simple, easy, accessible, and for sure can pair well with a beer. Can't wait to try! Also, I'm eyeing the wings...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2024
I'm always surprised by how busy Hold Out Brewing is- but we never have to wait in line. This seemed to be a popular spot for running or cycling groups to stop by and have a beer.
My husband and I visited on a Tuesday evening and we ordered the fish sandwich, the chicken bacon ranch sandwich, and a side of curly fries. The fish sandwich was moist and delicious. The curly fries were seasoned perfectly. The chicken bacon ranch burger was the only thing we didn't love because it seemed a little burnt. I don't mind a little char, but it was heavy on the char and it took over the taste. The beer was also very good. We'll probably be back for one of the best fried fish sandwiches around.Helpful 5Thanks 2Love this 5Oh no 0 - 81186121Jan 26, 2024
Hold Out Brewery is a great place to visit for beer and food lovers. Try new flavors and enjoy a good meal with beer! They offer rotating beer options and should be known for their crispy chicken sandwich and curly fries. Absolutely delicious! Tried something new today and gave the spicy Thai PB&J wings a try - delicious but they do have heat and I'm not a fan of heat (mild or less is my heat level).
Plus next door, is Better Half. They have great cocktails and wine! These places share a backyard so go to whichever one and sit in the patio together! They both have chicken sandwiches but I do recommend trying the one from hold out.. the sauce is just chefs kiss.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 25, 2023
How many times have I driven past this place? Lots of parking, a lot of seating, football on the TV's (TX has already won, all the other guys are on), and a great Hazy IPA.
My apologies, we ordered a pretzel and it was freaking delicious and I didn't get a picture. I didn't think about it until the tray was empty and the cheese dip was empty. Take my word for it, it was good!
Service here is like the parking, lots of it and they are taking care of the customers. All in all, this was a good find. Glad we came by to pick up our small business Texas Brewers glass.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 22, 2023
This review is purely based on my first visit to this brewery-which was beer only.
Loved the old school Austin vibe-I felt like this place has always been there but it hasn't, only 3-4 years old as we were told.
Ambience is lively, staff welcoming and ready to quench the thirst with suggestions to your palate.
Really good beer selection
Then we noticed that there was food being served-all looked & smelled really good coming out of their kitchen but we didn't try.
Need to come back for the atmosphere, beers and to try their menu.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 28, 2023
We're always looking for a central meeting place. This was our first time at Hold Out. My friends had their burgers and gave them high marks.
Their beers were good and had a good selection. They seemed to cater more towards pale ales. They did have a large dirt lot across the street for parking. Otherwise, it could be tight.
We'll be back for sure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 23, 20241 check-in
Cool place! Tucked behind better Half cafe. We liked how they had outdoor seating and were kid and dog friendly. We tried their lager and their Mexican lager and actually weren't a fan of either - very crisp and tasted almost like an ipa/seltzer. We also had the hardest time parking, it's super hard to come by and we drove around twice and had to street park somewhere else. Beer service was fast but they said food output was already an hour wait so we skipped out on that.

It wouldn't be right for me to Hold Out on this place. I came here once during the pandemic and found it to be a hidden gem on the west side of downtown.
Finally made it back last weekend and really enjoyed hanging out on the inside with their friendly staff, delicious bites and tastey beers. The New England IPA is one of the better IPAs in the city and the Japanese pancakes / fried chicken are a must-have (only served during brunch).Helpful 4Thanks 3Love this 1Oh no 0
