U-Haul of Middletown

Literally just left U-Haul of Middletown not even 5 mins ago and had to pull over to write this review because I had the BEST experience.

To begin with I was nervous because of reviews I read online of people making hitch installation appointments and then when they go, the parts are not ready, so then they have to make a completely new reservation. HOWEVER this was not my experience one bit.

My husband spoke with Cody who made the reservation for us and understood or hesitations based on the reviews that we read. However he did make us feel super comfortable and even had the manager acknowledge that this would not be our experience.

Fast forward to today, I walked in and was greeted by Mike, the manager, and he was so kind and immediately got my car in the garage to start the installation. I was anticipating waiting two hours but I actually was in and out in an hour.

Brian was also super helpful, while I waited I asked a few questions about their cargo trailers and he went above and beyond showing me sizes outside, helping me look for a cargo trailer ASAP, and was super patient! Brian was knowledgeable and also so kind. Brian was like that with every customer who walked in. He acknowledged their entry and immediately let them know he'd be right with them. Brian outlined everything super clearly for me - from trailer sizes, to coming outside to show me how to put the trailer on just in case, he gave me brochures and sent a video for how to install. I appreciated that so much. He was exceptional!

I would 100% be back despite the HOUR trip it took me to get there, it was soooo worth it! THANK YOU Mike, Brian and Cody!

I had an appointment scheduled to have my hitch installed on Tuesday. I show up for the appointment only to be told my hitch did not come in as ordered. Rescheduled my appointment for Wednesday. I take time off from work on Wednesday, drop the truck off, and three hours later I am told they can't install the hitch receiver because it is bent. They promise to have the receiver sent overnight from another location, and reschedule my appointment to Friday afternoon. Again, I take off from work to get the hitch installed. I show up at the location, only to find out that the hitch installer went to the hospital for an injury. I ask the GM why he didn't call me to let me know, and he says he was too busy for a 2 minute phone call. I would highly recommend finding somewhere else to get a hitch installed!

I rented a truck on Thursday when we were loading the truck we noticed it was leaking when I called to tell them he said yeah our trucks leak ‍ I asked why he wouldn't have told me that when I picked it up in the rain, I told him I was going to have to use one of the blankets to stuff up where it was leaking so it would stop leaking all over my baskets we were loading in the truck for our school gift auction he told me he was going to have to charge me for the blankets‍ as I was driving it the steering wheel had a lot of play in it and the truck was all over the road! I would never rent a truck from them ever again!

Morgan is the best! She made the rental process perfect. I had the wrong size trailer and we exchanged it quickly and easily. It's nice to work with professionals. I've rented equipment many times and this was as easy as ever. The phone reservation system needs to be updated. Overall a great experience because of Morgan. Thanks.

Brian, Jason, and the other fellas who helped me were all knowledgable and very customer service oriented. I was impressed and their help made moving not so much of a headache. Great team

Me and family used rented a Uhaul truck to help us move and it was great. The pricing was pretty good (Not the best possible but pretty good) And the overall experience with the truck was good too. It wasn't damaged at all and was high quality which allowed us to move every single deviate item at the same time without feeling worried about the truck bumping and the items breaking. Also the movers that we hired to get the heavy items were pretty nice too. They did the job perfectly without anything breaking and they were helpful and not rude. I would recommend them if you need to move at a decent price.

Had a bad experience with this In regards to a container box. At first I was told that a confirmation call would be done to confirm the time of the drop off of the box. That was never done. And then when we were trying to get info on the day of no one was able to give us a straight answer. Afterwards we were told there would be a delay because of traffic and then were told the drop off would be on the next day because the truck broke down. I would call to see what could be done to help me out and would be forwarded time and time again. Was really frustrating. Thankfully when going to the U-Haul itself the manager and one of the employees, jay, were really respectful, helpful and understanding. If it wasn't for them no stars would be given.

This review is for trailer hitches/wiring. I went to use my hitch for the second time over a two year period and none of my trailer lights would work. LEDs on the connector would light only when the trailer wasn't connected - which indicates a load problem. When my wife brought the car in and told them exactly what was going on, they hooked it up to a trival tester and all all was fine. Of course it still didn't work. When I called to complain they said I could make an appointment for two weeks later and pay for new wiring! Luckily I have a 20 year old van and all the trailer light worked fine with that, which saved my weekend trip.

I chose Uhaul due to price and reputation, but not worth it. Shop elsewhere.

Called several times to confirm my pickup at this location. No one answered after several attempts so I had to drive over in person. Three guys working there, no one can answer a phone?

Only writing on here because I asked to pick up from middletown and they informed me I could only pick up from avenel, which is about five minutes from where I needed to drop off!!!! That really added to our time crunch to begin with, and on top of that showed up to avenel right at 930 like they said and they were 20 minutes late. Never using uhaul again.
