The Childbirth and Women's Wellness Center

I believe that the midwives here say they are holistic but in reality they aren't. Kate delivered my first baby and was always cold and very short responding to me when ever i had concerns about my birth and postpartum process. She and lonnie are very heartless and could care less about patients. They have time for certain patients and have more interest in what insurance people have than actually making their establishment better for new and expectant mothers. I will never go here again and have had a better experience and treatment with my second pregnancy with a more experienced midwife elsewhere.

I won't recommend this place to anyone. Lonnie, Kate; Please take more time to be sympathetic to your patients, understanding, and practice what you preach! live up to the high standards of "reclaiming birth" that you all swear by when accepting new patients. Oh another thing is that the receptionist are into every patients personal business and really need to improve on their work ethic. They all seem miserable and have a weird "nice nasty" demeanor about them. To them and the midwives my baby and I were just another Number. Thank god i had great support outside of the childbirth center! That's the main reason my family is doing great today! Please if you can look elsewhere especially if you are a newly expectant mother I would highly recommend doing so.

Visited this facility twice during the summer and multiple multiple phone calls in between. Not only did it take a week and two days to hear back in IMPORTANT results, they gave me the misleading results and because of that I went untreated for a long period of time. Luckily the REAL OBGYN was able to diagnosed me properly.
One thing to mention is when I was getting looked at, I specifically asked for an OB/GYN and they insisted on giving me a midwife who has no knowledge of that, of an OB/GYN. I thought I was initially going to see a professional OB/GYN, and when I told them I didn't have insurance all of a sudden she was unavailable!

I had been getting frustrated with the wait time and feeling like I wasn't getting paid enough attention to but insurance is challenging and my last birth/c section went well with them and Dr. Hadad. I never thought this would lead to me losing my baby right before delivery. I came in the office with labor pains and was sent home being told it was early labor and could go on for weeks. Later that evening I had to go to the hospital via EMT services where I learned I lost my baby. Devastated beyond belief and frustrated I didn't listen to my gut when I started feeling like I was getting dismissive care earlier on.

I feel very fortunate that I have been able to have both of my children under the incredible care of Kate, Lonnie and the rest of the staff here. Kate was very patient with every question and concern that I had along the way. She is also great at explaining things and giving you all of the information so that you feel educated to make decisions about your birth experience. I had two csections due to stubborn breech babies and Kate was by my side for both of them. I had amazing birth experiences both times. My husband and I both felt very supported through the entire process. I would absolutely recommend this team to anyone who wants to have a collaborative birth experience.

Jessica Hayes, who works under Lonnie's practice @ Childbirth center in Clifton, is such an amazing midwife. She was my midwife during my hospital (Pasack Valley) setting VBAC and I felt so supported and loved. She is super gentle and was the only person who never made me feel discomfort during cervical checks. I am someone who is always looking up reviews on the internet and I can assure you she is someone who will give you quality care. She is committed to the well-being of her patients and I would 100% recommend her for your labor and delivery. Lonnie did my sons circumcision and it turned out wonderful.

Had my last baby with them. I love all the workers there. They make you feel welcome.
They take time to ask you and talk about any concerns and give you overall health advise. Happy that I had a baby with them and continuing with my check ups after.

I LOVE this place. I started coming to the office before I was pregnant, but I knew I wanted a holistic approach to my health, pregnant or not. I have to say I feel like I am with family when I am there. They are so personable when you come into the office.

When I was pregnant, they were always so nice about my appointments and any tests I opted or not to get. The monitoring is checking your vitals and listening to your child's heartbeat. Extra ultrasounds are very controversial so I was happy to only have two during the entire pregnancy. They supported my want to have a natural childbirth. Referred me to take Bradley classes (best thing we could have done as a family). Every questions I had was answered. Every concern I had about labor and even the hospital was addressed.

When I went into labor, Jane was on call. I wanted to wait as long as I could at home. When she spoke to me, she knew it was time, and I am so glad my husband and Jane were deciding or Liv would have been born at the house. When we got to Pascak-Valley, they got me to the tub room. Jane had essential oils to help me with my nausea. She let me and my husband be alone together to make it as intimate as possible.When I sent my husband because I knew Liv was almost here, Jane was in the room in no time ready to go. I'll tell you she can take control of a labor room! Jane helped me through my labor like a second coach. She also helped me not tear, which was a big plus.

I read some of the other reviews. To be honest, I like weighing myself. We are all adults here, but some woman actually feel uncomfortable on the scale. We all know how to push the slide to get our proper weight.

I highly recommend this office if you want to elect to have a pregnancy and labor that you are a complete involved member in. Do you research ladies, this is your body and your child you are bringing into this world.

We were discharged from the hospital and were told to take our baby to the Childbirth and Women's Wellness center within 10 days to have the procedure done on our son. We made an appointment for our son to be seen. We show up to our appointment and that's when they tell me I had to pay $300 upfront for the procedure to be done, again I am upset and shocked, My insurance was already active why couldn't they file the claim with them instead of charging me? Well they said it was because insurance companies didn't always approve the claims. So I ended up paying, at that point I was stressed and in pain, my son was getting agitated and I felt I had no choice but to just get it over with. After I paid MAUREEN ASSURED ME I WOULD BE REFUNDED MY THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS AFTER SHE SUBMIT THE CLAIM WITH THE INSURANCE TO NOT WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING THAT SHE WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. That turned out to be a lie. I called her on December 6th, she said the claim still had not been approved, I called
January 8th, she said it still had not been approved... So then I took initiative and submit the claim myself, it was approved in February, and the payment was mailed out February 23 2019, which Maureen confirmed they had received they payment... This is where the nightmare starts. I have been calling Maureen since MARCH!!! She said a check was mailed out to me, I NEVER GOT MY REFUND! I called her a month later to ask her where my money was, she said she would cancel the check BUT THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $25.00 FEE THEIR BANK CHARGES THEM TO CANCEL A CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!!!!???? WHY SHOULD SHE DEDUCT TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS FROM MY MONEY TO COVER THEIR FEE FOR A CHECK I NEVER RECEIVED. She said she would mail it out to me again, well guess what!! STILL NO CHECK! IT'S NOW MAY 31ST 2019, ALMOST A YEAR SINCE THE PROCEDURE WAS DONE AND THEY STILL HAVENT REFUNDED MY MONEY.... I filed a complaint with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU ON MAY 15, they haven't even responded to them... That's how professional they are. It's a damn shame they cant even refund me my money. At this point I don't even know what else to do, everytime I call them I get the run around that Maureen is not there or that she will call me back... all lies. Idon't know who to turn to so that I can get my refund!!!!!!! This is the nightmare they have my going through after taking my money and the insurance' money.

I can only speak on behalf of an initial consult, but first impressions mean everything which is why I am consulting with various midwives before pregnancy and posting here about our visit.

Based on my first visit with the office and Lonnie I'd like to provide reviewers with a truthful review coming from a future mom-to be. I made a meet and greet appointment for my husband and I to see the office and meet everyone, as we're very much planners and like to have all our "ducks in a row" as the saying goes. Everyone on the phone/email was always very very helpful, friendly and responsive which I liked, a lot. When we arrived for our appointment, the front staff were still very friendly. The office is quite small, older and outdated but we did not left that bother us, but it should be noted as it's true. Now, we did wait for almost an hour, so that was not the best start to our first visit but we understand appointments run overtime and due to the midwifery style we didn't let that bother us too much either. What did impact us negatively (and why I gave 3 stars) is when we finally met Lonnie, she was nice, but at the same time very nonchalant about everything and all of her information. Her responses reflected that she's done this many of times, don't worry, it all just goes fine and that's that. As new parents to be (hopefully in the next few months) we wanted to be catered to a little in the sense we would have a plan or some step by step knowledge to go off of. I understand Lonnie has done this for so many years, but our experience would have been better if she explained some more of the process (in terms of what to expect, appointments, usual protocol etc) so we were more comfortable with her practice and what they offer. She also let us know she's very busy and needed to move about with her day because she was running behind, which turned us off too. We know the meet and greet is free as a consult, but we just hoped to be nurtured much more than Lonnie offered us. With that being said, we decided not to use this office.

I think it's fair to note, the front staff are lovely and this may be a fantastic place for other women, there's no doubt about that because there are glowing reviews, but this is not the place for us- and that's okay. We are just looking for more of a boutique, catered experience and this office doesn't seem to offer that, not from what we were able to gather from our meet and greet anyways. At this time we have met with another office and our experience was much more informative and an array of knowledge and resources has been provided to us, which makes us feel much more at ease and comfortable with proceeding with them. We did appreciate meeting everyone at the office and for their time they provided us, but as I was told by a doula, you'll know when you find the right fit and not every office is for everyone and she was 100% right because this one was not for us.

Through my entire pregnancy the midwives were kind, loving and caring. They educated me every step of the way. Each and every one of them were spectacular. When I went into labor, Lonnie was on call and delivered my perfect little boy. The midwives respected and encouraged my birth wishes. I was able to have the birth I wanted and a big part of it was because of the Childbirth Center. I can't forget to mention the wonderful staff too - from the front desk to the medical assistants, everyone is just the best!
