Christmas is such a good time to come to Sugar Bowl. The place is well decorated for the holiday with a warm welcome by the staff. After you order, they also give you a newspaper to read
This is an excellent breakfast place to go to in the neighborhood.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie M.San Francisco, CA5782118Apr 6, 2021
Very old school diner style. Very cost effective on paper plates. Food did not impress.
Outdoor seating a little tough on a small sidewalk.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alexandra T.Darien, CT458642424Feb 5, 2022
Great local spot for casual breakfast! Has old school diner vibes and you can tell everyone inside has been before which is refreshing. Got the pancakes and a side of sausage. Great coffee. Reasonably priced. Tons of classic breakfast options as well as lunch. Will definitely be back!

Time has past emotions may have got best of me...popular place for breakfast I imagine waiter was working under pressure of full shop...don't let my review steer you away...I'm going to try it for breakfast again soon.

So busy you couldn't walk 6 steps and put it in front of me. I feed my dog with more respect! I guess they are just too busy...

I've lived here my whole life and shockingly today was the first time I went to the sugar bowl!
I was expecting a subpar lunchette with ok food but I was pleasantly surprised! I got breakfast for lunch, you know brunch, and it was great! I had a ham and cheese omelette with homefries and white toast. It was huge but so so good! The omelette was filled and super cheesy and the potatoes were zesty and flavorful. I also ordered a toasted/buttered blueberry muffin to share with my brother. It was so good! Tasted very fresh and was gone in seconds!
This restaurant is adorable at every season! They were all decorated for Christmas with hanging ornaments and everything! It was adorable. I've heard they decorate for every holiday. I can't wait to come back and see what they do for Easter!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 14, 2017Updated review
Great food the home fries were perfect. French toast was eggy (in a good way, I like it like that). Watch Sunday morning very busy place.
The muffins are off the hook. And the coffee is tasty and strong (just the way I like it).
The decor is most notable. They decorate for each. Season. Very fun. Quaint, New England, breakfast place. I love itHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

1. They seem to ignore you when you come in and sit down at a table
2. Next, they will bring you a donut broken in 2 pieces and not cut with a knife - honestly no idea why they do this? I don't eat donuts so its already a waste of food, it's not gluten-free so those with allergies cant eat it. Its also covered in sugar, which is very unhealthy as well
3. Food is average, comes fairly quickly but definitely not a good value for the price they charge you.
Have been there twice to give it a second try but I shall pass.
They always have hundreds of dirty decorations on the ceiling, cute but dirty....you can just imagine all the dust and debris falling off of them at any given time.
Oh and on chilly days, dont sit too close to the front doors....brrr....Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Clarissa T.Pasadena, CA332130105Apr 26, 2019
Sugar Bowl is hands-down the coolest place for breakfast around. So happy all the other restaurants open later in town and we randomly stumbled upon this place.
Pros: They give you a delicious donut with any order during breakfast. The coffee is hot and perfect. The service is quick, friendly and attentive. And lets just talk about the atmosphere... its so fun! For every holiday they decorate. I have been here during Christmas, St. Patrick's Day and Easter. I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of time they spend decorating this place for all of us to enjoy. It is just the coolest place. I have never seen anything like this. A total gem. The food is also great so what more do you need?!
Cons: None!
Tips: Definitely put your diet aside for just a couple of bites and try the homemade donut... You will not regret it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Stephanie N.Stamford, CT107181110Nov 14, 2019
What a lovely little spot in Darien! The price point is great for the area, and all of the staff are kind. We tried the Philly cheesesteak wrap, omelette, and chocolate egg cream (I had always wanted to try it!). All of the food was pretty good and came out piping hot.
The egg cream was nice and carbonated, and was different from what I've ever had before. The decor really makes it here, and I would definitely come back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Russell S.Cincinnati, OH04Nov 23, 2020
This is one our long time favorites and we had been here many many times. Unfortunately something went amiss at a recent visit as we waited for over an hour for our lunch with our young grandchildren. Needless to say we were all bouncing off the walls when my wife asked where our food was over three different times and tables that came in after us had left and we hadn't even gotten our food yet. When the food finally came it our grandchildren's lunch was scalding hot.
My wife and I in good conscience could not leave a tip under these circumstances. This is the first time we have ever done this. When we left, the owner asked us not to come back until our grandchildren could behave. No one could have a two and four year old behave under such conditions. Needless to say..."Don't worry, we won't be back!!" This is also one of the first bad reviews I have ever given so I feel bad in doing it. I wish things had been different. It was a truly pathetic response by the owner to our complaints though.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
