Spartan Moving Company

One of the smoothest moves I've ever had! They arrived 15 minutes before the 2-hour window and were able to finish everything very quickly. Big thanks to Julio and team, and Ashish who coordinated the move and got the insurance for both HOAs resolved. Would definitely recommend!

A reminder for people moving, they don't move plants for obvious reasons, so move them yourself. Also, make sure you take care of the sfmta permit reservation if you need one in advance.

I inquired with several moving companies and am so glad I ultimately chose Spartan for my move. Dave was very responsive throughout, even when I had a question during the actual move, and his team who came out were amazing (thanks Humberto and team)! They listened to my request to protect the stair railings and were very careful with my things. They were efficient and friendly, and I was pretty impressed at how smoothly the process went. Definitely recommend!

Buyer beware here. After my experience, I can't recommend them. They weren't cheap either, so this wasn't a "get what you pay for." For starters, they didn't bring the right size truck, resulting in me having to go back, on my own, to get things. I stayed in the area, but what if this was an out-of-the area move? That's major no bueno. They were hired to move my stuff, plain and simple, and they failed.

And upon leaving, I pointed out a couple items, heirloom antiques, that hadn't been put on the truck. One was an outdoor table/chair combo right next to the front door! Yea like I'm leaving that. The other they didn't have room for, so my real estate agent came and got it for me. The foreman blamed me for not pointing it out in the first place, because it was behind the front door! A good crew would have done a once-over before leaving, because moving is stressful and you don't always catch everything. I had to put the majority of my stuff in storage, so it admittedly wasn't a simple move. Hence two stars instead of one.

I also believe Spartan Moving damaged a table lamp but didn't tell me. How do you withhold information like that? I won't know for sure until I get the stuff out of storage but I'm pretty confident it came from that lamp. The room only had a few items in it. I've attached the piece I found on the floor. Sure looks like a part of the base.

When researching moving companies I was already very impressed with Spartan Moving Company's professionalism and friendliness over the phone. They gave me a rough estimate of the cost based on the square footage of my home and how many rooms I had. When moving day came they arrived on time and were very detail oriented with everything they took inventory of while loading the truck. Everything was protected and the wardrobe boxes they provided complimentary were a lifesaver!! They also made sure to point out if anything was already damaged which was thoughtful.

Since we were moving from northern CA to southern CA it took a day until the movers arrived to move everything into our new home. It was a smooth process all around and I was very pleased with the experience. I highly recommend Spartan Movers whether you are moving locally or long distance!

I hate leaving bad reviews but here I am. There were 3 things that went wrong in this move and that's too much to overlook.
1.) Felix told me 3-4 movers would be there on move day. Only two men showed up. What would have taken 3-4 hours took much longer as a result. Not okay. Don't show up with 1/2 to 2/3ds of the crew you quote people for.
2.) the company moved our stuff into storage. When they got to the storage unit they piled all the boxes in completely haphazardly with no thought as to providing a path to access the boxes. They were just crammed in.
3.) now that we have moved stuff from storage into our house, we found that Spartan rolled up one of our rugs and folded it in half - completely ruining the rug. We have to throw out this expensive rug because someone folded it in half. Whyyyyyyyyy?

So with these things in mind you know what to look out for if you decide to hire Spartan.

We had a terrific moving experience with Moises, Jose, and Camilo who helped us move from a 3rd floor 3BR to a 6th floor 2BR within San Francisco. Specifically, they were champs who went above and beyond, as our building's elevator was broken the day of our move - and they still moved everything within 7.5 hours.

Not a single dish, cup, or screen was broken - they were flexible, customer service oriented, and cheerful through the process. They also broke down and re-built a king size bed, computer desk, and entertainment center for us.

My only advice for the team is to double check the moving rate listed on the contract slip (ours was off by $10/hr but was fixed expeditiously) and to provide a more detailed invoice with the moving supplies (we received a flat amount - wasn't line itemized.)

Otherwise, we couldn't be happier with our experience!

I went through a very lengthy process on my damage claim (which I had reviewed previously) and after the company lied to me about what was covered -- when the damage happened, they said an insurance company "would take care of it" only to find out (which by the way took forever to get in touch with the company) that they do not cover damage that's created inside the home.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HOUSE.

After significant back and forth, Spartan Moving company would give me a $350 reimbursement when my damages were in the thousands. I was shocked about them 1) first lying about what was covered 2) playing bait and switch with me about talking to the insurance company 3) finally saying the insurance company "would" cover my damages, but only offering $350.

I will never use this company's services again and I suggest anyone who cares about the condition of their home to *never* use them either.

This review is a little past due but I hired spartan moving company for my move from an apt to a home and I will never not use them again for any kind of move.
From the first communication, they were friendly and professional. It was my first time using a moving company so I was nervous. They showed up and they were incredibly professional, friendly, fast and efficient.
Before I knew it they had everything moved, furniture put together and ready to go.
Hiring Spartan was the best decision I have ever made. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for movers.

Moises, Juan, and Jose showed up on time, were respectful, and moved everything with care. They were not slow, but they were not moving with urgency either. I'm not sure if this is common practice, but I was a little taken aback that they took their time folding, cleaning up, and organizing their moving materials before they even unloaded all of my boxes. At some points, I was literally standing there watching them pack up. Also, one of the three movers took on a more "supervisory" role and did minimal work, so it was more like having 2.5 movers.

Overall, my experience was decent. But they really should've finished unloading my boxes and furniture before they started packing up and organizing their truck.

The fact that they havent sent my money back to me! Bad business! Dont give them any money. If you need to.....you wont get your money back.
