If you want great quality Japanese clothing, specifically shoes and traditional outwear, then this is the store for you. Its located in the 2nd floor where there are other mini stores in the way, but this is directly left of the elevator. Its a decent size compare to the amount of wares it has, and lots of color diversity too. One think to keep in mind, since this stuff is imported from Japan, there is a higher cost as a result. Expect prices to be 40-200 depending on what you are looking for. That in mind, the socks are pretty affordable and have some interesting designs to them. Give it a look!

Great Japanese designed clothing! Just wish there was more of a selection!! I've been to the main store in Kyoto where there is much more of a selection. I bought a few tops there and wonderful fleece lined leggings.

Copped my split toe "ninja" shoes here and now all my friends are asking where'd I find them. Well, look no futher!! Sou Sou has an amazing selection of different colors & designs. The fabric is tough but very fashionable. The colors are vibrant and inseam & cloth are from actual kimono material.
If you're looking for "ninja" shoes, this is where you find them!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - V O I D S.San Francisco, CA01Oct 21, 2020
was recently looking for shoes and I found this Japanese shoe that was great and hadn't seen anywhere else( their called tabi boots ) and they don't have any shoelaces or messy Velcro. they have neat metal tabs you slip into slots on the back of the shoe and is a very neat design. they didn't have many in my size but it was the first place I heard of them so I bought a pair. Later I saw this better par because I didn't like the designs on the shoes even though they do look high quality and asked to cancel my order. I followed their contacting guidelines and they were very responsive in canceling my order.
In short you can expect your money back if you miss purchase somethingHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas B.San Francisco, CA050Dec 14, 2016
I really don't want this place to be found, but that would make me selfish. This little gem of a store locating on the 3rd Floor of New People in Japantown has an amazing selection of clothing and accessories from Kyoto Japan. I especially like the pieces that are designed for both Men and Women. A Minimalist heaven!!!

While I haven't been in the store in person, this place is great if you want some chill drape-y stuff that's actually made in Japan. Kind of like a Japanese Marimekko, but with a lot more interesting stuff. I'd argue that their clothes are cooler than the tabi shoes that they have. Be aware that most of their shoes max out at size 28, which is around a size 10 Men's US, so if you have big feet, you might be out of luck on some of the more fun patterned shoes.
Shipping has been fast and consistent.
It's also pretty easy to delve into "Way too nerdy Japanophile", so keep it under control, please. Not really Sou Sou's fault but keep it in mind.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jonathan W.San Francisco, CA424258946Aug 16, 2009First to Review
Sou Sou is is footwear from Kyoto tat fuses the Tabi shoes with a modern twist to them. Each shoe is hand made so don't expect them to be cheap. To me it was like combining Tabi's with VANS shoes. They have some intriguing designs that were pretty cool. I plan to go back and possibly get me a pair.

I WILL own a pair of the shoes someday. Kind of pricey but the shoes are cute. The clothes are high quality out of Japan and are just fantastic to the touch and site. The guy who was working the day I went was abfab. Very friendly. Oh and the socks are the ones where there is a split at the end.
