Q:
I have heard that you should service your water heater occasionally? I have never had it done in the 5 years I have owned my home. What would you charge for a service?

Kitchen sink faucet broke and needed to be replaced. Came the next day and replaced it with one that I purchased but they had ones they could have used if I didn't have one.
Courteous and clean work.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 28, 2020Previous reviewSuperb work. I needed a plumber ASAP because the freeze was coming on and I had an outside hose bib that was stuck on (but had a plastic Y for two hoses and stopped the water). I called several companies but none could come out soon enough. Plumbing Doctor made time for me the next day. They sent Dave who was meticulous and did excellent work. He had to replace the bib, which was a cheap pot metal fitting, with a brass one and had to go under the house to do it.
While here he noted the terrible way the hot water heater was plumbed with one of the components ready to break off at any time. He also advised me that a water heater's life expectancy is nine years. Mine was 14 years old so I decided to have it replaced. He came back a week later, removed the old, noticing several install mistakes including the earthquake strap which were improperly attached and would of have held up in an earthquake.
The installation was a thing of beauty!
I now have my go-to plumber. - Jeffrey M.Reno, NV025Oct 11, 2023
Fast response. Excellent service. Our plumber found a problem before it became a disaster.

Living in Reno for several years now I've come across and had a lot of not good contractors that are lazy, try to do a quick rushed job, cut corners, don't know what their doing etc. lots of these Clowns around here in Reno.
Reno Plumbing Doctor is #1 on my list of Plumbers I would use again (hopefully I have no needs for a plumber anytime soon though)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Justin H.Reno, NV474Jan 29, 2024
The company was great. The issue was a stopped up toilet. They were very responsive and the cost for the service was reasonable. The technician, Kai, was quick and friendly. I high recommend Reno Plumbing Doctor.

After another plumbing company didnt show up for a scheduled appointment nor even gave a courtesy call, I gave these guys a call. I had a 30 year old, 6 gallon water heater in one of the bathrooms that was leaking. Obviously corroded, rusted. They came out the next day at my request, though were willing to come out immediately. Dave assessed the situation and proceeded to get the water heater out and cap the lines. Two days later, Dave came out again and hooked the water faucets directly up to the main hot water lines. Now you might think that is easy, but for a house built in the 1970s, not so easy.
Dave did a great job and was very knowledgeable and patient with all my questions as he worked.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marian B.Sparks, NV2918Aug 3, 2023
I called around to my usual plumbers. My water main pipe was misting water out. I thought about waiting to see if it got worse, and looked up some DIY fixes. I'm so glad I didn't. Mark, the owner, came the very next day and as soon as he saw the rust figured it out. Where to cut etc. He drew me a diagram of what he'd be doing. He came the next morning right when he said he would, and fixed it. He uses the highest quality parts and does the highest quality job. He explained some plumbing issues that I'd been told we're necessary to find out they are just not. Things that can be repaired instead of replaced. I appreciate that a lot now that my husband died and I have less money. I'll always call Reno Plumbing Doctor for any problem I have. Thank you Mark.

If you need help with a Tankless Water Heater - there is noone in Reno who knows as much about tankless water heaters than Mark. We had a problem with our "state of the art" system that two other plumbing companies in Reno came out (charged us) and said our unit was workimg the way it should. We luckily found Mark who came out and in 5 minutes said it it could be this or this - let's try this one first it is a cheaper fix and if that dosn't work we will do this. It was the 2nd one - Mark worked with us to get the manufactor to replace the "guts" of our unit which were faulty, at no charge.
Mark is now our plumber. I highly recommend. He is installing a new dishwasher for us in a couple of weeks and he will be doing our plumbing on a remodel we are going to do next summer.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lara T.Reno, NV15482Apr 2, 2023

The one good thing I can say is that the company is responsive. We were having problems with our hot water. I was getting luke warm water throughout the house and the burner was not kicking on. I called several plumbers and he was the only one that could fit me in that day.
45 minutes later I have the owner at my door. That is decent service. When he arrived. I explained that we were having a bathroom remodeled and in the middle of the remodel we lost our hot hot water. The guy came in our house looked at the remodel work. Went back out to the garage and said you need a new hot water heater. He did not even look at the water heater. The house is 19 years old so we were more than lucky the original lasted that long.
He wrote the contract up. $2400 for the installation of a new heater. I am told now this is average. The guy tells me that a guy will be out shortly to change the heater. He starts to drain my old one. As it starts to drain the guy realizes that water is coming back into the tank from the system and gets weird. He figures out at this point that the rough shower valve that was installed in our bathroom remodel doesn't have a mixer in it so the hot and cold are mixing unregulated in the rough valve. He figures it out, but does not tell me the problem. He Quickly stops draining the tank. Says something about the other guy will have to shut the water at the street leaves some materials for the other guy and bails. He knows at this point that I do not need a heater. He does not tell me that and leaves.
I don't figure out the problem until the other guy installs the new heater and we still have the problem. We install the mixer and the problem goes away. If my other tank was not 19 years old. I would sue the pants of this guy. He is a crook.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
