This site was permanently closed without notice on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Members were told two days prior that they were closing for a few days to do some much needed maintenance. Two days later an email was sent out that they had permanently closed.

I had been there the day before. Had I known, I would have cleaned out my locker. I literally exchanging email messages with the local chain's director that evening. No hint this was coming. Sad.

      Here's the notice:

      NRG Lab Peeps,

Sadly, due to the economic impact of Covid-19, including mandatory shutdowns, rising operating costs and membership attrition, we are unable to sustain operations at the Mansfield NRG Lab moving forward.

Effective immediately December 1st, we are closing the Mansfield NRG Lab.
We are grateful to have served the Mansfield community for the past 8 years and wish you the very best on your fitness journey moving forward.

Please forward any questions, concerns or needs to mansfield@nrglab.com.
Honored and blessed to have served your wellness needs,

      -Team NRG

Here's the notice that went out two days earlier:

      NRG LAB Peeps,

The facility will need to be empty for maintenance to begin, please plan your visit accordingly.

      Thank you for your patience.

When I first came to the Milford NRG Lab July 2018, I requested that my membership only last for 2 months (July and August 2018) and then be terminated as I was only in Milford for the Summer. I realized that I was still being charged in September 2018 and called to cancel the membership. When I did not hear back, I assumed the membership issue had been fixed (I know, rookie mistake but you have to understand it was my first real time with a gym membership).

Not only was the membership not canceled after my call last September, I realized yesterday that I've been charged for the last 9 months or so of inactive membership. Should I have paid more attention to my bills? Obviously yes, but there shouldn't have been a reason in the first place for this to have been an issue. I called yesterday, 6/9, and left a message asking to cancel the membership and left my phone number.

After my call yesterday, no one reached out to me, so I waited to hear back, hoping that it was a quick fix any employee could handle. No one reached out to me but I was charged today, 6/10, for membership. I called back today and was told (for the first time since opening my membership) that I had to email to cancel my membership (which would have been great to know 9 months ago).

While the NRG lab gym was great for the 2 months I actually went to it, this administrative error has not only been frustrating, it has cost me hundreds of dollars.

Despite its nice machines and convenient location, I will never be returning to this gym, nor will I recommend it to anyone I know. I am, instead, warning friends and family (and Yelp readers) to stay away, as issues with membership cancelations could end up costing hundreds of dollars in unused gym time.

So I cancel my membership along time ago and they're still emailing mean in the email so I thought I would share it.

      [Hi customer

      We've heard it countless times.

"I REALLY want to finally follow through, but ..."

And we get it. Sometimes work, family, upcoming vacations, special events and occasions, etc. can seem like valid reasons to put off addressing your health.

That's because we convince ourselves that they are so that we can justify not taking action.

Here at NRG Lab we know that change isn't easy. But putting off taking the action you KNOW you need to take is.

Rationalizing why "now's not the time" is far more common than actually doing something.

We are being real and brutally honest here because no matter what story might be going on in your head about why you can't commit to our programming is simply a story...and likely one we've heard before.

If your situation is exactly the same one year from now as it is today, how will you feel? Will you be proud of yourself, or will you have regret and wish you'd taken some action to change things?

If this sounds harsh to you, please know that this is coming from a place of deep desire to facilitate change and enable you to live your best, fittest, happiest, and healthiest life!

The side effects of your decision to act will blow you away, and your future self is already thanking you! Even if...

      You haven't exercised in years...
You've failed every diet you've ever attempted or abused your body for years...
      You think you're too old...
You believe you don't have time...]

I actually didn't like this place because I didn't have enough classes. They charge for everything it actually did get too expensive. They did have a smoothie bar that ended up not actually being very healthy.

Membership is, in my opinion, overpriced for the services provided. The bathrooms are definitely state of the art, and customer service is great(although a bit overbearing), employees are constantly cleaning the facility, but it takes more than that to make a good gym. The plates are a motley assortment of nice rogue plates, rubber coated steel plates, and strange rubbery plates that are peeling. The barbells are no name brand, some with knurling that comes almost to the center of the bar which is terrible for deadlifts, and some with an exposed lug nut on the end which doesn't allow the barbell to spin freely which is terrible for everything. There are only three benches in the dumbbell area, one full squat rack and a bunch of halves, and it's crowded with machines. The mirror goes up to my nipples(I'm 5'9") and you're not allowed to use the sled unless you pay for a trainer. There's the classic smoothie area and a gift/clothing shop(why.) Overall, not worth the money. There's ton of potential at this facility but overall, it seems like a gym run by a businessman rather than a gym-goer. Best of luck.

EDIT: Apparently they don't answer the phone either.

I found that NRG Lab has very few classes offered at 7 pm or later. This is more of a Singles Gym, it's NOT a Working-Mom or Working-Dad Gym. So for those working parents who have limited schedules and need 7pm classes, especially yoga, bar and stress relief, like I need, you're better off going to the YMCA Foxboro, which always has 7pm classes Monday through Friday.

Worst management I've ever dealt with. Previously tried this gym out and had issues with charges over 2 years ago and chose not to go back. Fast foreword and my gym merges with NRG Mansfield. I gave them a second chance but it still didn't work for me. Added my name to a very long cancellation list and was never canceled so to no surprise I was charged. I called the desk and Molly said she could not do anything about it I needed to send an email. Sent an email and got a call back a couple days later and they refunded the money and "took me out of the system". I received my refund.
Paid a drop in fee to go to a friends class one morning.. unfortunately that class didn't happen which was not a big deal at all. I went back to the desk and said can I please be refunded the $15 drop in fee. Lisa was at the desk and said she couldn't do that and didn't know what to do and took my name and number. NO ONE CALLED ME. So I sent an email. NO ONE RESPONDED. Ok so I call and they tell me I can use it for another drop in. Fine I'll do that.
Fast foreword another week I'm charged AGAIN for membership that was "canceled". I have sent yet another email because no one answers the phone most times you call. I'm now asking for a refund of both the membership fee that was charged again and the drop in fee. I refuse to step foot in this gym again.

I started here a few weeks ago doing the women's transformation 3x a week training with Evan and I love it. I have NEVER been a gym person, and usually just did videos at home but I was beginning to just go thru the motions with no results, until now. I actually look forward to going to each class, and being only 30 mins, they're over before you know it! They are definitely challenging and fast paced, and I don't think I've done the same move twice yet! I've also had a session with Jeremy who is also fantastic to work with. The gym is amazing, very clean and well kept; the amenities alone they have there are incredible. Highly recommend

I recently had a facial massage and ultrasonic treatment done by Angela and it was nothing short of amazing. I work crazy hours and needed something to unwind and rejuvenate not only my body, but my skin as well. The spa services are available to anyone, you don't have to be a member which is a great perk. The private area was very quiet and clean, you wouldn't even realize there was a gym down the hall.
The facial massage (which included my arms, hands and neck) had me melting into the table and Angela instinctually knew that I held my stress in my neck and shoulder and used some great Aveda product to treat it. The ultrasonic facial was something I never experienced before but I'm sold! My skin looked great, even well after the facial and I didn't experience any redness which I'm usually prone to. I can't wait to go back for another visit!

Despite having some great machines I was very disappointed in my experience there. I tried the one month Groupon to see if I would like it enough to become a member. I did not feel like I was treated as well as regular members. The overall attitude of most people I met seemed very elitist. This made it difficult to feel comfortable asking questions, trying new groups and workouts. Not worth the cost just to be able to use a few fancier machines, will try FitFactory down the road.
