Dr Bernadini and PA Adrian Sutter have been amazing.
I've had unmanageable pain for years even after multiple surgeries and spinal cord stimulators. We've finally been able to get it managed. The goal is quality of life not the amount of pain medicine. All the doctors at MD Pain are anesthesiologists so they know pain medicine and options. They are not scared like many are. I truly don't know where I'd be with out them! Thank you MD Pain!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bob S.CO, CO01Sep 22, 2023
Dr with limited availability. Insulting when not condescending. More worried about Government guidelines than patient needs, Pill mill atmosphere in waiting room. Just bad!

I showed up 2 minutes late for my appointment, partially because I sat and held the door for an elderly man that had a walker and was moving very slowly. Dr. Bernardini wouldn't see me and can't see me for 3 weeks. The part that really bothered me was how rude the girl at the front desk was about it. I believe this is something they should tell their patients when booking.

Dr Checa is clearly, unabashedly, interested in your health and in mitigating your pain. Fortunately, he is always the go-to guy when tough decisions need to be made. His office staff are wonderful as well. Even amid the COVID Crisis, he assured there was always a conduit for reaching someone to help. He also knows that different individuals react to various painkillers differently. While some folks fall asleep after taking 5 mg of oral MS Morphine, others (like me) are totally unaffected. He seems to understand that liver enzymes are essential in effective drug use. For me, I could take very high quantities of MS Morphine or IV Morphine during post-operation and have very, very little impact. He has found a drug that works reasonably well, unfortunately, he has limits. While my heart goes out to the thousands who overdosed; humble reader, you must understand that pain is real and mitigating that pain requires willpower to follow the instructions. Absent a particular opioid, my pain would be unbearable. I suspect that once the mindless politicians who wish to shutdown opioid production see the dramatic rise in suicide, the pendulum will swing back to a more neutral position. Pain management physicians must be on guard for signs of abuse, and once found, find humane alternatives.
For those with the "adultness" to follow the rules, please don't shut down the entire industry. Dr. Checa is one in a thousand as a physician - it would be nice to have other providers (anyone who is allowed to prescribe Schedule 2 drugs) better understand how various opioids work with the liver to reduce pain. NIH and the Mayo Clinic have great peer reviewed papers on this topic. Not all opioids are of the same makeup.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0
