I went to Lunch with my co-worker.
I was craving for a ramen.
The Chashu Ramem is so flavorful and it's only $10 for Lunch!
My co-worker has Sesame Chicken Cold Ramen.
It looks really good and I will get that next time!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 30, 2015Previous reviewWe came here for happy hour. KOA has GREAT happy hour specials!!! This is mostly Asian than Italian-Asian.
The place is huge because of its ceiling height! The restaurant is spacious because you are not all crammed up.
The bar area is in the center.
Food is definitely Asian. More of a fusion of Asian food than Italian. Asian modern!
The shrimp appetizer is served in a nice dish with separate wells. They served battered fried shrimp dipped in light sweet-sour style sauce on a creamy sauce for our appetizer.
The kale fried rice is outstanding and flavorful.
The pork fried rice is equally delicious served in an interesting pot that sits in a wooden holder.
The fried chicken in a bed of large Sichuan peppers and other dried peppers had more fried other things like mushrooms and broccoli than it did chicken. Maybe I won't order this next time.
The vegetable Nabe would have been better had it been half less oily. It is a little spicy but pleasantly so. They should call this dried Sichuan peppers with choice of chicken or lobster. About half the plate is inedible dried peppers.
The vegetable sorda was quite good with lots of vegetables. It's like noodles with sauce. I will order again.
For dessert, the brownie tempura was outstanding! This place has a lot of energy because the music is very loud.
On the wall they show fashion modeling on runways from Europe on top of energetic music. Around 7:30 PM, we had a belly dancer dancing around tables.
At the entrance hall they have paintings of the 3 Presidential candidates!
It's more 3-1/2 stars but I cannot click a half on one of the stars.
It's a nice place and most of our dishes were very good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 29, 2015
OVERHYPED, OVERRATED, & EXPENSIVE SORBA
The famous and supposedly special Soy Milk Dan Dan Sorba ($23) was uneventful and lackluster.
It was slightly spicy but the minced ground beef was dry and eh tasting. It really did not help the noodles. I also could not taste the specialness of Sorba. It just tasted like regular japanese noodles to me.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2016
Very fusion.. Small menu
Probably the soy milk ramen is the only thing worth visiting because it's unique, but the new opened ramen spot Zundo-Ya in East Village has soy milk ramen on their menu now as well~
Bang Bang Chicken was the biggest mistake of our meal, it was so boring and the chicken was dry..
Yuzu Shrimp has no yuzu taste at all- disappointment
Waiter does not seem to be familiar with their cocktail menu, we ordered A and B came... GrrrHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 298185759May 24, 2015
Disappointed. It was empty on a Friday night for so many reasons. This place is not $$. It's more like $$$. Each bowl of sorba averages about $25. If you order a drink, appetizer or dessert, it'll easily get you tab to above $50 per person. We ordered the yuzu crispy shrimp, Dan Dan sorba and crispy chicken sorba. Since my fiancé is allergic to soy, they were nice enough to change it to another broth. The service was a bit slow and we had to keep reminding ourselves to be patient. I feel like they only had 1 server running the whole restaurant since it was so empty. We did had other people coming to refill our water constantly, but just no one to take our order. I think even the manager noticed and asked if we had placed our order.
The yuzu shrimp was actually not bad. It was a little tangy and the shrimp was not over cooked. I was surprised they didn't devein the shrimp when it was only 7 pieces of shrimp for $14.
Our sorba took forever. When my dan dan sorba came, the broth was lukewarm. I didn't see how it was worth $25. It only had some minced beef and lettuce as toppings, but that was it. The crispy chicken sorba was better but I still don't see why it was worth $25 either.
The decor was nice but it was really cold in there. If they would lower the price to $15 a bowl of sorba and make sure the broth is hot when they serve it,I would come back. I hate to see businesses fail. And I would never go to the restroom alone again. It was dark and scary.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 20, 2015
Very intimate Asian fusion restaurant located in the flatiron district. The service from most of the staff was flawless besides our server. The host and two other people provided a warm welcome and even offered to hang our coats up. We were seated about 5 minutes after arriving late for our reservation.
I am big on service and notice when there is a lack of it. Our server came to our table at the beginning but after telling her we needed a few minutes she didn't show up for 15 minutes. Not a huge deal but inconsistent with everything else.
We had the spring rolls and lobster wonton as an app and they were really good. They were served promptly. Then I had the Karage Sorba and was really impressed. It was delicious! Will def be returning and recommend to anyone looking for a date night spot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark C.Brooklyn, NY3372892121May 17, 2016
I love the Flatiron District.
I come down after work sometimes it's only a few subway stops down. I stopped in for Oysters and Sushi but I got the shrimp & shumai pork buns and spring rolls with mozzarella and chili sauce they're deep fried sticks that Eric Javits would be eating two at a time, there's no distinguishing him from Chuck Norris, but they've got Lychee Beer and you might want to try that!
Try the Dan Dan Noodles and if your looking for a cocktail look no further than the Fig N' Awesome it's Figanza Vodka and Elderberry Liquor it's absolutely delicious!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 25, 2015
It was recommended by coworkers so here we are on a Thursday night for dinner.
Nice: modern decor, very sleek, vibrant bar scene, high table seating in the back (ramen joint'ish) and attentive service, no rush and hard sell.
Food: I know they are known for their Sorba noodle (like soba noodle) but we weren't in the mood for a brothy meal. We opted for 2 apps & 2 entrees.
Appetizers: pork buns (dried over cooked pork belly), crispy crabmeat wontons (this was actually very good - crispy outside, melted juicy crabmeat inside).
Entrees: General Kao Chicken and Stir fry filet mignon... we basically order regular Chinese Take out food.. AKA Glorified General Tso Chicken and Pepper Steak let me explain, 1) coworker is non Asian 2) coworker was into Chinese food and I came w/o expectation which made this dining experience all downhill after the crispy crabmeat wontons.
I gave it 3 stars for the wonderful service and crispy wontons.
Highly Over-rated Over-priced Chinese Food! with a HEFTY bill at it too!! How would you feel paying $38 for pepper steak? & $34 for general tso chicken?!?! Ugh....!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 8, 2016
God, this place is good. A very reliable Asian Fusion place that rivals China Grill. It also has great dark "mood lighting" right out of Hong Kong assassin cinema.
We had pork gyoza (dumplings), shumai, two different kinds of ramen, vegetable spring rolls, and something else I forgot. We had tempura brownies for dinner -- BAM! -- which may have been the best thing. Everything was just delicious.
Why am I taking off a point? My patented P2P ratio (price to portions). The appetizers just weren't very filling. Ramen was good on P2P, though, so really it's like 4.5 stars.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Megan C.New York, NY40118501168Nov 10, 2015
Spacious // Chic
Asian Fusion
This restaurant looks like a place that could moonlight as a night club, the only thing missing was a DJ. Lovely interior, popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
Every dish that we ordered was seasoned well, and our drinks were great.
Business, casual, friends, or an event.
Great space, good service.
