Q:
Are there any vegan options? If so, which menu items?
A:
Yes they do. Their menu is online. There is also a wonderful vegan place next door called Aa roots

Do they take reservations or advance wait list? Our hotel is about 15 minute drive so take out would probably be cold by the time we get back. Glad this location is still open. Sad about Macadangdang.

Joeys kitchen is a very casual place and does not take reservations. You walk up to the desk and place ur order. You can order online or by phone and probably ask them to have it ready for pick up at a later point. They r extremely busy now so def… more

Joey's has two locations: This one in Napili in a small shopping center, and one in Whaler's Village in Lahaina. They serve hearty Flip food, in a casual setting with a whole lot of aloha & mabuhay.
I ordered the lechon plate, while the HTC (Hawai'i Travel Companion) had the short ribs ($30.50 | not pictured). The lechon was crispy, tender and flavorful. When I asked for Mang Tomas, the nice lady brought it right away. The dish was so rich, I couldn't finish the rice.
I had a bite of the short rib, and it was super tender and sarap! The veggies were fresh & crunchy, and paired well with the savory beef. The lady next to us changed her order when she saw the dish arrive. She told us she was glad she did.
Regarding the ambiance, its very casual. You order at the counter, and they bring your food to you. Joey's was packed on a Wed night, even though it was less than one hour away to closing. The staff is so nice and friendly.
Hats off to chef Joey Macadangdang, a Filipino braddah, who is making a splash in the local restaurant scene. I believe he has three locations, and he also sponsors a local highway. Joey's is a must visit the next time I am in Maui.Helpful 8Thanks 2Love this 13Oh no 0 - Apr 6, 2024
My fiance requested a meat and rice plate after he saw some yummy looking ones nearby at a food truck that unfortunately only took cash. I saw the reviews for this place and figured this must be the go-to spot. Even Guy loves it and I love Guy! We dropped in around 6:30pm and it was busy. Very minimal seating so we decided to take it to our nearby Airbnb. I ordered the shrimp plate and my fiance got the garlic chicken plate. I was pleasantly surprised with mine. The shrimp had great flavor. It just sucks that you get only 5 shrimps for a little over $25. I was hoping there was be Mac salad or something with it but there wasn't. This left me hungry after my meal which is unfortunate because by the time we were done all the restaurants were basically closing up already.
The reason for the low ranking besides the portion was my fiancé's meal. I have actually never seen him not eat almost his entire meal. He'll get 95% of the way done even for food he doesn't like. He left half the chicken on this plate and told me straight up it was not good. His did come with Mac salad, which he ate the entirety of. Something to note here is that he does NOT like Mac salad. He never eats it back home but since he was hungry he chose to eat it over the chicken. I never got a taste but that shocked me enough to lower the review which is unfortunate.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 27719571823Mar 10, 20241 check-in
We've been attempting to try places to eat that wasn't on our radar in the past. As such we decided we'll try here based on a friend's favorite eats.
Today we arrived at 12 noon on a Sunday. The line was out the door. Now what. I spotted the QR code taped to the front entrance. We'll just order to go. Which is what we did.
Ordered:
* crispy pata (pigs knuckle)
* shrimp pancit (noodles)
* garlic chicken
The order process was easy and convenient. I paid using Apple Pay.
The system said 20 minutes. We went to the supermarket a few doors down to kill time.
Once 20 minutes was exceeded we went over to the pick up area. Gave my name. The order was ready.
We went back to our resort to chow down.
The pata was good size even though the menu said small. The pork skin was crispy. And the pork meat was tender. Came with two scoops rice.
The garlic chicken was battered. But the garlic taste was lacking but meat favorable.
We got three shrimp with the stir fry noodles. I'd probably skip this dish next time. Was a small serving size and didn't have much umami. Oily veggies too.
I'd like to give the restaurant another try when I'm in Maui again.
Overall 3.5 stars.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 33174208May 13, 2024
10/10 food spot to stop by in maui! We were trying to find a dinner spot and came across this on Yelp. This fried rice was SOOO good! So flavorful. Keep in mind it does take a bit longer to get your food but it's worth the wait! Garlic chicken was so tender and crispy

Ladies Hawaii Trip 2024, Joey's was our first meal...
Pros- very close to our hotel. Brussel Sprouts and Chicken Chow Fun were pretty tasty.
Cons- while we had tasty Brussel Sprouts and chow fun, I've definitely had better elsewhere of all the dishes we ordered. The lumpia were just ok (huge disappointment - I love lumpia!), the garlic shrimp dish was overcooked and came way late (they were forgotten under the heat lamps for a while and it showed in the taste and texture). The loco Moco lacked salt, and I'm not one for overly salty food, just enough to enhance the natural flavor(s) of dishes.
I think I may have ordered the wrong dishes... the bbq kal-bi ribs and crispy pata that other tables had did look really good. When we arrived, we walked right up to the counter, no line. While we were there though, the line went out the door and around the corner, so they must be doing something right.
Unfortunately, as a first meal and a list spot for me, I was honestly disappointed in our overall meal. I felt cheated out of a delicious meal opportunity since time is limited and I do have quite a few other list spots on Maui that I want to try for the first time, as well as a few list spot repeats. Really bummed that Star Noodle is still closed and look forward to when they start up service again! Star is usually my first meal stop, Joey's was a sad replacement....Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 2, 2024
We walked in just short of closing and were graciously invited to sit inside where there are a few intimate tables and a couple family style benches.
We ordered a few different items kale salad for the vegetarian.
Fish and chips and Loco Moco two classics.
What I felt was the most unique in style and presentation was the fish sandwich makes it sound so basic but in reality it's very complex first you have a huge portion of fish fresh slaw mix and drizzled with umami dressings similar to a spicy sushi roll served on a toasted brioche roll, stunning dish for such a humble establishment! Joey's Kitchen - A must try!Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0 - Alffy G.Hermosa Beach, CA252718May 18, 2024
Ordered pork belly and its blend. . Ordered halo halo for to go and they don't have the right spoon. Tried to call the lady 3x while on her phone texting and ask for the right spoon. They said to take off the lid. Since they told me to take off the lid, the halo halo overflowed and made a mess on their table. The cashier is move but the one serving the food needs to smile. She has an attitude .

Came over here for takeout on evening. In a strip mall with plenty of parking. You wait in line and order your food (then sit down if you are dining in). Menu is on the wall and they include specials. Came around 5:30 and waited about 15-20 minutes for my food. Here is what I got:
*Kale Caesar - exactly what I wanted. Good amount of dressing and came with tomatoes. Kale wasn't too tough.
*Lumpia - 6/order. It was good - standard lumpia.
*Kalua pork entree - really good. Came with rice and Mac/potato salad.
*Short rib - great flavor! Came with rice, veggies, and kimchi.
Overall, a good spot for takeout or dining in.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 2, 2024
We've been to Maui multiple times and I don't know why this was the first time at Joey's but we will definitely be going back. My husband and brother in law visited and we went hard for dinner and ordered a lot of food. Everything was so good! We got the adobo fried rice, small crispy pata, lumpia, fish and chips, chow fun noodles, garlic chicken, and drinks. The pata had excellent flavor! I would definitely eat it again but it was a little much for my husband and BIL. The lumpia was pretty standard, I would skip to save room because I could have eaten two entire plates of the garlic chicken. Thinking about getting the garlic chicken? Do it. Get it. You won't be disappointed. Adobo fried rice was also great and the chow fun noodles were my husband's favorite. By the time we ordered the fish and chips I couldn't eat much more but so badly wanted to. They were hot and crispy and the fish was so fresh and flaky. My BIL got two drinks, I forget what they were but he was happy with both. The servers were super nice and the restaurant is small but has quite a lot of seating and some long tables as well for big families or communal seating. Overall highly recommend! The only thing we wished for was some relief from a lot of the fried food we wanted a small salad or veggies or something. Which maybe they have we just didn't order because we were in a food coma!

Do not miss out on Joey's Kitchen if you're in the Napili/Kapalua area!
Joey's Kitchen gave so much back to the Lahaina community during the 2023 Maui Wildfires, cooking all 3 meals for displaced residents! So awesome!
The food...outstanding! Each dish was delicious and flavorful. Their menu is a mix of Hawaiian and Asian cuisine (Filipino mostly), so if you love this type of food stop by! We took my grandma here and she love the garlic shrimp! She ate it all!
The service was great; the wait staff and hostess were really kind. This is another restaurant that you should know what you want before you go! You have to order your food at the counter before sitting.
It's a smaller restaurant with about a dozen tables on the inside. Seats can be found outside but if you choose to sit outside, they will put your container in a to-go-box.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
