No joke, Alex is magic. I first met her when I took a yoga class of hers at Akasha Yoga studio in Roslindale - her skillful instruction and loving guidance in the class created a safe container for me to really connect with my body, my breath and my inner world of thoughts and emotions on a deeper level, and immediately piqued my interest in the "Yoga Therapy" she was practicing and talking to me about. I have been going to yoga therapy 1-on-1 with Alex as a client now for over 2 years, and rave about her and the YT approach to anyone who will listen when I get the chance.
I leave sessions feeling connected to my inner voice and wisdom in a way that I never did in traditional psycho/talk therapy. I leave feeling physically and spiritually transformed - like I have actually moved stuck energy or emotional pain around and then out of my body while learning from it too, with her support. And her support is not just complimentary: I truly would not be able to access my inner teachings and wisdom in the way I do without her loving presence and healing touch. (And re: healing touch - this woman is the *embodiment* of :healing hands" people, for real. Their energy and warmth are unparalleled in my experience.)
I have referred my best friend, her friend, and my 2 roommates to her as well, and have encouraged countless others to go. My roommates and I literally joke at my house that she is our "family therapist" we love her so much.
If you are newer to body-based therapies I would strongly recommend buying a package of 3 - 5 sessions at front, to allow yourself to really experience it and "try it on" before deciding whether or not this is a modality that works for you. And it's okay if it doesn't! That said, yoga therapy is an innovative and cutting edge approach to therapy that really integrates all the knowledge we now have about the centrality of the mind-body connection in the healing and self-actualization process, and Alex is truly at the forefront of this field in her skill, experience and mentorship.
May all who are willing and curious seek and find her medicine! Or for the more skeptical and less new agey, at least "give it a shot." :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - yelper y.Boston, MA226Nov 29, 2016
Alex's Radically Restorative classes are truly healing for body, mind, and spirit. Her approach is gentle and trauma-informed. Class participants with varying degrees of physical ability (from people with physical limitations to super-advanced yogis) can relax in the poses and rest into deep silence. I always feel a little lighter and breathe more deeply when I leave a class.
