I purchased a 10 class pass right before becoming pregnant. I love yoga but practicing during my pregnancy was uncomfortable for me so I was active in other ways. I asked if my pass could be extended so that I could use the classes I purchased once I was no longer pregnant. Sadly the owner would not allow this.
I have practiced yoga in many other places around the Cleveland area and this is the only one I now have bad vibes about.
Yoga is very worthwhile but also expensive. Spend your money elsewhere... a place where you feel respected and offers good customer service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle H.Lakewood, OH1945578Oct 3, 2017
I was invited to Puma Yoga Studio by my friend who is pregnant and wanted to try their Pre-Natal Yoga class. She asked me if I would do it with her since she has never done yoga before. I purchased the $40 for 4 weeks new student special and went to the class with her. Laura, the instructor was great. I felt a little bad/guilty that I was in a Prenatal class even though I wasn't pregnant but Laura made me feel at ease. My favorite thing about the class is that she took the time to talk and have everyone get to know each other a little bit. I've done yoga at a couple other studios and just didn't like the vibe (too many students.. felt judged). Puma truly made me feel relaxed and happy. I liked the class so much I signed up the next two weeks for the basics class.

LOVE this yoga studio! Very small place, but it's got an amazing ambiance and impressive slate of teachers with a variety of styles. The small-town community vibe is just what I expect in a place like this. They provide a myriad of classes, from beginners to pretty advanced stuff, the only thing they are lacking is a good Ashtanga practice (I would be there double the time if they did).
Overall a VERY awesome place to destress and work up a sweat.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amy D.Lakewood, OH150137318Apr 30, 2017
Puma is a great place to connect with others in your yoga practice. Puma is located on busy Detroit Ave--and the studio is entirely encased in glass windows. You can't really see in from the outside unless you look hard. The glass tends to get fogged up after classes & there are also sheer curtains giving patrons some privacy. However, from the inside you feel connected to the life and climate going on around us.
I also like that Puma's classes appear to be fairly diverse. I have had classes with all kinds of people, which is not something I experience often at yoga studios. There are also people of all levels practicing in most classes, and they offer a lot of beginners classes.
Puma has both male and female instructors, and they are trauma-informed in their practice. Every time I have attended a class they have always given advanced notice of "hands on assists" and given patrons the privacy to opt out. This is so important in acknowledging that not everyone likes to be touched. Puma also offers a lot of classes throughout the day, with a variety of yoga styles. I like that they have early morning & late evening classes, as well as several classes on both Saturday and Sunday.
The space is small, and like most Lakewood studios, you should enter quietly as there may be a class going on when you arrive. There is a lobby area and the studio, only separated by a curtain. The studio can be toasty from radiator heat, so I would suggest wearing removable layers. The only "bad" quality is the lack of parking. I always give myself a good 15 minutes before class to find parking. There are many spaces in the area and surrounding side streets, but depending on the day/time it may be hard to find a spot. Of course, this has never prevented me from coming to yoga at Puma, and it's not a uncommon issue for Detroit Ave businesses.
Namaste :)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jill C.Avon Lake, OH113May 28, 2017
Such a wonderful studio. Great variety of classes and all the teachers are great. Wonderful to have such a welcoming community in Lakewood!

I have never really tried yoga before or at least not outside my living room. I've always felt like it would be too hard and I would feel like an amateur among people who had been doing it forever. My body was screaming at me to try it because my muscles are very tight and I have poor posture. At my boyfriends request we got a new student pass and have decided to try it for a month. Let me tell you that my worries about feeling like I didn't know what I was doing were unfounded. All the instructors are amazing at explaining the moves we do and giving you other options if you feel like you aren't ready to do a specific mood. Yes there are people at a different level than me that are there however its not as intimidating as I initially thought. I love the variety of classes they provide and the deep stretch class is amazing!!! After going everyday for a week I can say I am definitely sore which just tells me how tight my body actually is but I'm excited to continue going and see how I am at the end of the month. One of the things I love about this space is how relaxed and rejuvenated I feel once I've been here. I know trying something new can be scary but please give this place a try! Your body will thank you!

I'm no Yogi, but I know a good instructor when I meet one. Ok, maybe not, but I know what I like.
My bf granted me a gift of a 10-class pass to Puma (Personally, I recommend this # because if gives you a chance to try out many different classes and instructors). I've been going for a little over a month now and have definitely found some favorites!
I've taken various classes at different levels and all the instructors are very kind, friendly, and helpful. Even Puma herself knows my name and chats with me when I come to a class! I am a huge fan of Puma's beginner class and think that the beginner's workshop would probably be amazing for those just starting out. I love, love, love Susan's classes too. She's a riot and always manages to challenge me.
While most of the instructors here focus on Vinyasa styles, there are varying degrees among them.
A great non-pretentious studio for Yogis of all levels!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jennifer R.Lakewood, OH216Apr 13, 2017
I am new to this studio but I already love it. Friendly people, a welcoming atmosphere, and great instructors. My only complaint would be sometimes the classes are a bit over crowded but that makes me happy for the owners/teachers. You guys got a good thing going!

There aren't too many places to take prenatal yoga. This goes for a variety of states and cities I've traveled to. Now, I'm not overtly pregnant yet, so I haven't taken the time to seek one out close to home. Thus, I was quite interested to head to a local Cleveland yoga studio with my expecting sister-in-law to partake in such a class.
The studio itself is open and bright, with more than the basic number of yoga props (especially helpful for those with child): blocks, blankets, bolsters, straps, mats and more. If you're visiting, like I was, prepare to pay a $15 drop in fee and $2 mat rental. Frankly, I could do without the mat rental fee, but hey, business is business. The props and the studio were immaculately clean.
The prenatal yoga class itself, was dubiously full of ladies of varying due dates, so if you're on the fence about popping into a prenatal yoga class, just do it. They also encourage guests, pregnant or not. After everyone introduces themselves (name, due date, how they're feeling), the instructor leads through plenty of relaxation breathing before heading into the actual yoga and stretching. Naturally, this particular class is softer than your typical flow yoga: think plenty of deep stretching.
After the class I felt quite limber and relaxed, so the class certainly did its job. Price wise, I think it's a bit spendy, but overall I'm a fan of Puma Yoga, even after just one drop in.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Melanie M.Columbus, OH10914229Oct 7, 2009First to Review
This is a fantastic yoga studio!! I recently started practicing yoga again, after several years off. The instructors are very knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. The space itself is very aesthetically pleasing - warm colored walls, plants in the windows, and a lovely floorspace. You can rent a mat for $2 if you don't have one, and they provide all the necessary props. They offer some good deals as well - such as $90/month for unlimited classes, a drop in rate of $15, and a student rate of $5 per class (this is through the end of the year)!!
