Q:
Is this place still open? I've driven by there a couple of afternoons and no one is there. This is my favorite taco spot in hyde park.
A:
Closed by department of health. Using old taco shells from two years ago and reheating the not sold cooked food to customers. Disgusting. Owner didn't pay the employees and shut the doors

Is that the old Ribs N Bibs spot?

Steak tacos were a hit but they cost a grip.
More importantly shorty in the front has a terrible attitude and she probably take some customer service YouTube trainings lol.
Seriously, if you're in Hyde Park craving tacos this is a good spot to go to.
*Edit: I've been back and the customer service has try improved. 4 stars!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ronald G.WINNETKA, CA1472821Oct 4, 2018
It looks so good, and appetizing.
Very expensive for the quality of food.
STEAK TACO = meat not seasoned well, tastes just like salt and pepper were added.
BARBACOA TACO = Saltier than Salt Lake Itah, On God.
AL PASTOR TACO = Somehow this is the only one that kind of tastes ok.
MAHI-MAHI TACO = Barely give you some pineapple sauce lol and the fish is very tasteless.
To top it all off the lady at the front register takes very long to get your order, she made a customers order twice and called the same name also, very strange. She asked us for the order again at the very end like, we just went over this during the order process.
The place is very uncomfortable and they have some hard ass wooden stools, after 5 minutes your ass is fucking numb. I rather stood there and wait for our order.
In other words, I'd rather go to the taco truck in my neighborhood back In CaliforniaHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 705161189Aug 28, 2018
I don't get here very often, and I miss Ribs N Bibs, the former location, but I usually enjoy their food. I enjoyed the fish taco and chips and guac. The fish is blackened, not fried so that's a plus.
This is obviously built for takeout though they do have a few seats inside. I wish they had price-saving combos, where one can order 2 or 3 tacos and save, or tacos with chips/salsa.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 18, 2017
Mmm...I can't think of anything nice to say. This place wasn't bad but it's definitely not memorable nor is it worth the price tag. The service was slow and the seating is uncomfortable.
Considering that Chicago has an abundance of authentic Mexican and Mexican-inspired eateries, this one is probably worth skipping.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 23, 2018
I beat the crowd yayyyyy!!!
The guacamole is stellar!!! The steak tacos are good. They are a little pricey if you are adding on extras but I enjoyed my meal! The chicken tacos were okay. I wish they had flour shells for the tacos not just the burritos. I shall return!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jonathan B.Chicago, IL273Mar 18, 2018
My wife and I just stopped here for a Sunday lunch and were BLOWN AWAY by the tacos.
I got a chicken and a barbacoa taco. Each was spectacular. The pulled chicken was juicy and flavorful but the barbacoa stole the show; perfectly seasoned, tender, and in perfect proportion to the tortilla. My wife got a set of shrimp tacos which were perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. We also enjoyed an order of chips and salsa as we waited. The chips were incredibly thick and crunchy and the mild salsa still had a nice kick.
As we finished, we declared that we would be getting all of our tacos from HP Taco Station from here on out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 164139430Oct 14, 2017
The food is fine--good enough for its class: fast casual. A bit pricey, but this is Hyde Park so what would we expect? For 3 people, we spent $64 on tacos and 2 or 3 sides. When we got home, we found that we were missing several items and tried to call the restaurant to inquire. No answer. No answer for several days, no voice mail. Eventually went up to the restaurant but the staff could not help, and gave us the owner/manager's cell phone number.
After much persistence, negotiation, and patience, Mr. Vazquez was exceptionally fair and kind in resolving our customer service issue. He told me that whenever I was ready to replace the four tacos that were missing from my order to just text him. I did that several weeks later. He took my order directly and had the food delivered to us right away, and threw in a few extras.
Thanks again, Mr. Vazquez, for making things right. Wishing you the best with the restaurant.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2018Updated review
I'm really glad to have this great restaurant in our neighborhood. Friendly service, delicious food, pride in the neighborhood community. Thanks, Hyde Park Taco Station for being a great neighbor!

Their food is overpriced and not that deliciois. A real taco joint doesn't charge $3 a taco and they aren't stingy on the meat. I understand this place is in Hyde Park and tent may be higher, but they don't need to be stingy on the meat.
I ordered 3 plain steak tacos and I almost felt violated. The steak appears to be of good quality but it was not seasoned. It reminded me of when cheap places keep there meat in water, throw some on the grill when needed, warm and serve.
Pictures will speak for themselves.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mesi W.Washington D.C., DC12651Dec 22, 2018
I was highly disappointed in my first and last time here. I should have checked yelp first but I figured how can a taco joint mess up Mexican food? Well...I ordered the chicken burrito and it had several issues.
1. I asked for everything and of the items inside, not one bean fell out nor was there evidence of sour cream.
2. I ordered the Grilled chicken breast burrito. I'm not sure that's what I got. The meat was super dark. Only evidence were the large chunks that seemed like chicken.
3. The meat was suuuper chewy-I coudn't eat the majority of it.
4. Again not much else was in there so there was waay too much chewy unidentified meat which I tried to take out to make a sensible burrito.
I had already taken it home otherwise I would have questioned the cook and gotten another meal but it was a complete loss.
Never again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
