Same experience as the customers below. This company has awful integrity and when approached with a complaint, they berate and attack you. They have a very dishonest way of giving you a quote for cleaning, it was very unfair.
It is by far the most shady cleaning company I have ever worked with in Cincinnati and I was even told by the owner that she would refund me for the miscommunication and dishonest quote, but never was refunded. The cleaning ladies that came did a terrible job at cleaning as well.
There are plenty of other cleaning companies out there, BEWARE OF USING HOUSE CALLS LLC. I can't imagine the 100's of other people who have been scammed by this company who haven't posted on Yelp or other online review sites.
They do not charge you till AFTER they are done cleaning. So you will have virtually zero idea of what you are going to be charged till they leave your house while they are taking their time doing a poor job of making it spic-an-span.
It ended up being a horrible experience using them and had easily the worst experience talking to the owner/management. Like the other reviews explain, this is a completely dishonest company.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Max. We are truly sorry that you had such a bad experience. However we do not have any record of ever having cleaned for you. Is it possible that you are thinking of a different cleaning company? We take concerns very seriously at House Calls and we are always looking for a way to better resolve customer issues.

Dishonest "quote" process. They don't tell you how much the entire job will actually cost UNTIL THEY BILL YOUR CREDIT CARD (that way, you can't simply dispute and not pay the bill). They quote you for "one man hour" (which is of no value) but don't give you ANY indication as to how many hours the job will take -- and therefore, no idea as to how much they will charge you -- until the job is done and your credit card is charged. Simply a HORRIBLE and extremely unclear way to do business.
The total job cost me $266, to clean ONE floor of my house. IF I had known it would cost that much, I never would have hired this company. But I did NOT know it would cost that much until they charged my credit card.
When I complained to the Better Business Bureau, the owner's daughter posted a nasty note on the FB page of my wife's employer. Seriously. The most pathetic and unprofessional thing I have ever seen a company do in response to a legitimate complaint. Stay away from this horrible company.
Of note, I have since hired The Cleaning Authority. Their quote process is transparent (unlike House Calls), the cleaning job was just as good, and it was HALF the price.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Todd,
We are very sorry that you felt our quote process was dishonest. We will try to be more clear in our quote communication in the future, so thank you for bringing this to our attention. We do admit that bringing this quarrel to the Facebook page of your fiance's employer was unprofessional and is not how we like to conduct business. It was a misjudgment on our part, and for that we apologize. We are working to resolve this issue with you through the Better Business Bureau and trust that they will come to a fair mediation. We've also asked you to communicate with us offline, as you have our direct email contact information for any further comments.
Sincerely,
Stephanie - Cindy G.Cincinnati, OH257510236623Apr 21, 2015Updated review
I sadly have to update this review. I like some of the other reviewers have experienced an unfair quote. They told me that it was X amount per hour and they will bring a team to clean my house and they will do my "priorities." I gave them a list of priorities "floors, carpet, kitchen, bathroom" in that order as pet hair and the floors are extremely important to me. They told me they will do the priorities first and whatever else is left they will return and get the next time. I communicated that I only wanted the time I had booked and not to go over the time because I did not want to be charged for another hour. At around 45 minutes I nervously asked the team leader why none of the priorities "floors, carpets" have been done yet and she told me because they do those at the end. I said, "well, it's almost the end...if you don't do those do you finish those because they were a priority?" She replied "Yes. We ALWAYS finish the priorities." I then asked her a second time and my boyfriend and I both asked, "So since you didn't finish the priorities on our list is that is included in the price/quote for the time we booked because we DO NOT want to be charged for another hour." She replied again, "Yes we ALWAYS finish the priorities."
I was under the assumption, that since they did not finish the TWO most important things I asked them to do within the time allowed that that would be included in the price. Instead they stayed over the time allotted and assured me that "they always finish the priorities."
After that I see a bill for sure enough the extra time it took them to "finish the priorities." I get that things cost extra, time costs extra - I GET THAT. But they were cleaning things I did not ask them to clean, and spent an extra hour cleaning what they should have cleaned in the beginning when I asked. And for those of you that do not know, cleaning is very expensive.
The owner did call to communicate that they went over the time and that I would be charged. I was extremely frustrated to say the least and I will admit that they did do a good job, but like a restaurant - you come for the food and stay for the service.
The cleaning was just as good as any cleaning I have received but I did not like the way that the entire situation was handled and I felt very betrayed and cheated out of my hard earned money. For those reasons I will not use this company again and I strongly suggest if you do use them, to warn the team 15 minutes before they are finished to let them know (like I did) that it is almost time to leave and then kick them out at the time that you paid for.
Great cleaning, poor service.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Cindy,
Thank you for your review, however we do not have record of your cleaning job in our history, nor do we have recollection of reaching out to you to let you know about your additional charge. We are very interested in learning more about your experience, what name your cleaning job was booked under, and who you spoke with at House Calls LLC. Please reach out to me, the owner, so we can resolve this; (513) 841-9800. I look forward to speaking with you.
Sincerely,
StephanieNov 13, 2013Previous reviewI used House Calls for an event cleaning service. Not sure if they do this all of time, but I was so impressed with their professionalism and how quick they got the job done!
We had a 500+ event with 30+ vendors which means cups, napkins, decorations, tablecloths the works. They kept the place neat and tidy during the entire event and afterward had the place torn down in less than 15 minutes!
The next day we went back to pick up the lighting from the venue and the staff commented on how impressed they were with how quickly the venue was cleaned out and how nice it looked post event. They had just thrown an event the week prior and there were bags of garbage leaking and trash everywhere. Gross! House calls made sure the trash was properly emptied during the event so post clean up was a breeze.
They were seriously a godsend, and made my night so much easier. I cannot thank them enough! If you ever need any cleaning done, trust that this locally owned family business will take care of all of your needs. - Tammy G.Cincinnati, OH01May 25, 2016
I will not use another cleaning service other than House Calls! I'm unsure how other reviews can say that their quotes were misleading. Mine was over the phone and exactly as they explained.
I have my house done about 3 or 4 times a year and am charged an hourly rate for each girl(They call it a per man hour rate). There are usually 2 or 3 girls who come to clean. I leave a priority list for them and they go by what it says every time. I also let them know ahead of time that I only want to spend a certain amount for that days cleaning service. The team follows my list and if they run out of time, they call me. If they didn't finish something, then I can choose to have them stop cleaning altogether or to let them finish a room or finish the whole list. I have to pay for the extra time of course, but It's completely up to me. No surprises, no hidden fees, and excellent service. The quality of cleaning I receive is impeccable every time. They really pay attention to those little details that other services I've used, simply ignore.
If you tell them that you only want the bathrooms and kitchen cleaned, that's what you will get. If you tell them to clean only the floors in the living room, that's what you'll get. You only pay for what you want done and it's done very well. they did say they had a minimum charge for every cleaning but it wasn't much. $90.00+tax if I recall correctly. You won't get what you want for free, but you will get what you paid for and a little more.
I would recommend House Calls to anyone, and I do. Even the office staff is friendly and helpful.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kate E.Bloomington, IN14Mar 13, 2015
House Calls LLC saved the day! I was a client at another local cleaning company. The day I was expecting guests this other cleaning company didn't show up and didn't even let me know they weren't going to show up! I called House Calls on my way to the airport to pick up my guests and Stephanie and Cynthia made it happen! They were at my apartment within the hour to clean and get my place ready for entertaining. THANK YOU for your sense of urgency and fabulous clean! My guests and I are very happy :) I plan to transfer all my cleaning needs and business to House Calls!

i used house calls for the first time last week. i'll make a quick summary as to why they get 5 stars.
1.) i trust them. when you have someone new in your home or apartment, you'd like to make sure that they're insured, bonded, and screen their employees. they hit all 3.
2.) they have great communication. i was at work while they were cleaning, but they still let me know that they were on their way, and when they'd be there.
3.) most importantly, they were very thorough. i describe myself as "neat," but certainly not "clean." the job they did was beyond what i could do.
i will be utilizing them again.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Helene K.Maineville, OH07May 17, 2013

I was not pleased with my experience with this company. I was moving out of my apartment and starting a new job in the same week. I decided that to lighten the load a little bit, I would hire a cleaning service to take care of the cleaning at my old place. I was able to call on a Saturday and make an appointment for Monday afternoon (before 5) and I was told that someone would call 30 minutes before they arrived to find out where my key was. I decided to ask a friend to meet them so I didn't have to hide my keys. However, by 4:30 on Monday afternoon I had not received a call, so I called House Cleaning, and they promised someone there before 6. However, I still had not heard from anyone by 6:30, but after another call I was promised that they would be there by 7:30. So I made an extraneous trip to hide the key, because I couldn't ask my friend who had been sitting by her phone since noon, to do it for me any longer. I finally got the call from the actual people that would be cleaning my apartment at 7:45, that they were 45 minutes away. They did not reach my apartment until 8:30. This was not a great example of the professionalism of this company, but I was still willing to let it slide.
I was unable to check their work that evening because they arrived so late. The next day I went to my old apartment, to make sure everything had been handled, and it looked ok--not great. And one thing that I particularly asked that they do, cleaning the windowsills had not been done. I had to wipe down three of them myself. I wasn't happy, and I still hadn't been told how much I would be charged for this. Since some of the work hadn't been done, I was afraid that they would have gone over my upper limit for the cost of the service, $200. I called House Calls and asked them to email me a receipt for the work, because no one in the office had any clue about how much I had been charged. I also told them how disappointed I was that all the work had not been completed. They offered to send someone out to fix it the next day, however, I needed to return the key to the landlord, and I had already completed the work.
I never received a receipt for the work, just a charge for 145 dollars a couple days later. They couldn't follow through even though they promised to send one. Outside of the uncleaned windowsill everything else looked ok. However, shady business practices should keep anyone away from this company. They cannot keep to a schedule or follow through with their promises. Find someone else who can.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for the review Christina. We're glad to hear that our cleaning was mostly up to standards but disappointed we dropped the ball on a number of other issues. We are always trying to improve our business practices and this is one area we are constantly trying to get better at. We would love for you to give us a second chance show you how much we have improved these exact scenarios.
Thank you for your feedback,
Stephanie - Mark D.Cincinnati, OH03Sep 23, 2014
I had House Calls LLC come out to clean my high-rise apartment here in Cincinnati. The two technicians who came to my home, Tiara and Gena, were very friendly and extremely professional. I was at my high-rise the entire time, and I can honestly say that they ACTUALLY DID clean my home EXACTLY as I would clean it myself. The owner, Stephanie Harden, was very nice and extremely professional as well. I would recommend House Calls LLC to anyone who would like to enjoy an absolutely SPARKLING CLEAN home!!! I know that I'll never use anyone else!!! Thanks again, and I look forward to having you back out in the future!!!

Having relocated on a short deadline, Stephanie at House Calls has been a life saver! In trying to move out of our house and get it on the real estate market while 9 months pregnant, we were struggling to find time or ability to clean it appropriately. It was just too much for us to handle. House Calls was able to get us scheduled quickly and clean the house for us before we had a scheduled showing. Their work is performed well and with efficiency within their teams of cleaners. Thanks, House Calls for making our move easier!
