Sod is too expensive and plugs is labor intensive / costly! Sprigs is reasonable and spreads evenly !! The team provided excellent service from beginning to end. Fred, David, and the team was very professional in all my dealing. They really cared about delivering a quality end product!! The price was good and serviced provided was First Class. The amount of grass sprigs (clipping), mulching, and cleaning up after the job was top notch! Would use them again in a heart beat !!
Used them again! Another outstanding job! Fred and his team came and did a first class professional job! Highly recommended! See pictures for first hand proof! - Ikaika K.Mililani, HI7594835Apr 12, 2016
My lawn is beautiful! I was planning on going all sod until I read about hydroseeding. Fred and Shem from Hawaiian Hydroseeding inspected our lawn and sold us not only on cost, but te efficiency of their service. Within a few days, they were on site tilling ground, laying irrigation, laying sprigs and spraying their secret sauce mulch. 6 weeks later and it was time for the 1st mow. After that, the lawn started growing in thick like weeds! Now my lawn is plush and weed free and virtually maintenance free with the exception of a mow every 2-3 weeks. Super happy with Hawaiian Hydroseeding!

Very unprofessional business.had an appointment with them on a monday.called and they said machines are down and will be ready Wednesday . scheduled for Wednesday morning and called Tuesday for a reminder (big project so everything has to be done on time) person on the phone said we will be there don't worry . Wednesday come went to the job site at 9am gave them till 930,gave them calls, texts and voice mail to see what time they are gonna arrive,it's 12:00 right now and still waiting with no response in hopes someone will pick up our call and give us answers!they just wasted almost half of our day without any communication.
I don't recommend this company to any jobs that contain scheduling and to anyone who has little to no time to waste.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jon E.Ewa Beach, HI011Jun 1, 2018
Pros:
-With the right conditions, hydroseeding is a very good way to get grass quick and so much cheaper.
-Very courteous and knowledgeable staff.
-Very quick to come and do the work - from quote to done in less than a week and the house I was seeding is in Makaha.
Cons:
-They need to make sure you have decent soil. I did not, and though I followed their plan (watering and fertilizing and weeding) the lawn took more than 6 months to start looking green and that was after I added about 20 bags of soil conditioner and manure - it's still way too sparse to mow (they said I'd be mowing it in 2months); Not to mention a large portion that just didn't grow because the soil was worse there.
-I had to dicker with them over price. My landscaper called them and got a quote, I called a day later, mentioned my landscaper by name and the quote they gave, and they still wanted $200 more (they started at $800 more). Finally with a lot of arm-twisting, they agreed to do it at the original price that was quoted.
-Though I appreciated their quick turn around time - (it was so fast, it almost felt gimmicky) - they rushed in and within about an hour or two it was done - they had about 4 guys but still when you pay almost $1000 you expect a little more care and attention to detail. They handed me a grimy sheet with the watering/fertilizing plan on it and disappeared off to the next job.
-They promised to check back with me a few times over the next few months - and even said they'd do a couple walk around inspections. I've never seen or heard from them since. Since there was nothing in the contract that said they'd do it, I don't feel I have the right to bug them about - but it shows you can't really trust the workers' word to do things.
Summary:
If you have a small yard with good soil - this is almost a no brainer. I would suggest laying down about 3" of soil conditioner or compost either before or after they come. The grass will grow quick and thick. My yard is about 2000 sqft and with rocky soil but they were not trained/prepared to advise on the best way to prep the soil. Overal,l I am happy with the final product but just take my advice on prepping the soil or you'll be frustrated.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stefanie G.Waipahu, HI012Jun 11, 2017
We had our lawn hydroseeded a few months ago. Cost-wise it was a lot cheaper than sod, but it's a lot of work.
We have loads of weeds that weren't in the yard before we started. Now we're trying to figure out how to get rid of them. The maintenance paper did say there'd be weeds, but we didn't think there'd be so many!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Devin O.Saint Louis, MO02May 2, 2017
Awful customer service. I called several times throughout the week and left several voicemails with no answer or call back. I finally got an answer from Fred when I called the following week, and we set up a consultation for an estimate. Not only did Fred not show up, but when I called him to see where he was he didn't answer. If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't even waste your time.
