I had an 8 a.m. appointment to have my car checked out due to some minor but puzzling issues. I dropped it off at Country Hyundai the night before the appointment and left clear instructions about the issues, along with my keys.
The next morning, a very nice service rep called to confirm the information I provided and told me that the diagnostic would take about 2 hours. I called at the 3 hour mark to inquire about the status of my car and was told that the technician hadn't reported any results yet. I called a second time (after 5 hours, total) and was told, "a technician was looking at it now" and that I'd get a call back in about an hour. Nearly 2 1/2 hours later (7 1/2 hours, total) I got a call and was told that 1 issue had apparently resolved itself, 1 couldn't be reproduced, and 1 could only be solved by a $1200 stereo replacement. They washed my car (bonus!) but no repair work was actually done. I picked it up just after 4 p.m.
Total cost = just over $300.
The customer service rep (Nick) was extremely pleasant. The 8-hour wait for diagnostics is frustrating. I don't see the point in making an early-morning appointment and dropping my car off the night before if it wasn't going to be seen until nearly 6 hours after my appointment time.
Most of us have to cross our fingers and make the choice to trust what a garage/mechanic tells us. We make that choice based on results. Trust is eroded when the results come with confusion and/or obfuscation. I have no idea whether I can trust Country Hyundai because they didn't manage something as rudimentary as an appointment time and time estimate for service on my car. It's difficult to accept as standard an 8-hour wait for something I was told would take 2 hours, especially as no subsequent repairs also took place during that time. If this is a common occurrence, so be it. I could accept being told it was going to be an all day wait. Being told that I'd get a call around 2 hours after my appointment time set the foundation for an expectation that Country Hyundai did not meet. I inconvenienced several people because I wasn't able to have my car back in something closer to the time frame I was given. Unavoidable delays certainly happen but no information of that nature was shared with me. I had no way of knowing I'd need to make different arrangements for my day based on the info I was given at its start. This experience will definitely be a consideration for any more diagnostic/repair needs. I'm not sure Country Hyundai is my future go-to place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lynn C.South Deerfield, South Deerfield, MA01Mar 9, 2024
My car is just over a year old and has less than 16,000 miles. A temperature sensor needed to be replaced. The part arrived the next day. I was told it would be ready that afternoon. No one contacted me that day to say it wouldn't be ready until two days later. They don't have any loner vehicles. Poor service and poor communication.

This place is the stuff that nightmares are made of. The buying process was awful. The salesperson who got us started quit his job halfway through the process and no one else could figure out how to take over. They all acted like it was their first day on the job. I went in four days in a row asking if I could have the car I bought and they kept saying they weren't ready. On the day I finally got my car, I heard an employee yell at a customer, "be mad all you want, I'm not changing my mind". Wow.
After owning the car for about a month I had to bring it in for a repair. They had my car for EIGHT weeks! During that time, they did an alignment. When I got it back it was completely out of alignment. I contacted them about fixing it but they didn't reply. I brought it to a real mechanic who was shocked by how badly they had messed it up. He told me that in addition to the poor alignment, there was a thousand dollars worth of damage. I brought it back to Country Hyundai who refused to take responsibility. It's crazy what they're getting away with.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lindsay D.Easthampton, MA01Aug 25, 2023
I have had nothing, but trouble with this dealership. They made me lie to my finance company and tell them I had the car when I did not. They played me around for 2 weeks before i received my car. I have had my car 10 months and it just died suddenly. They have not been accommodating or helpful AT ALL about the fact that my new car died after only 10 months.
Absolutely horrificly run dealership. Worst customer experience I have ever had.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jean A.Uxbridge, MA793663Nov 27, 2022
Great Staff!!! They treated me like family and I got the best deal I was looking for. Aaron was a salesperson on my first purchase and he's now one of the managers, well deserved!!

My husband and I purchased a brand-new 2023 Ioniq 5 from this dealership. Aside from the two visits we made to test cars where things went smoothly, the rest of our experience has been abysmal, both in sales and service customer service. I apologize for the length of this review and wish I'd done my review homework before coming here.
Knowing we planned to buy a car from CH, but not having chosen exactly which one yet, our sales person called the afternoon of Jan 31 and asked us to come in. When I asked why, my husband didn't know. They wanted us to sign the purchase agreement that day (oh right! end of month). Not knowing what was to come, we waited 4 HOURS to see the finance manager - apparently we weren't the only people called. We got home at 9 pm, exhausted and too tired to eat dinner. (This one can be chalked up to us.) We do a bank-to-bank transfer (ie, pay cash) for the car. We get a call 2 days after the transaction from our salesperson asking if we sent the money. 'We got a check but we don't know if it's yours and there's nobody here who can confirm that.' It was a nerve-wracking few days until their accounting department came back to work and confirmed this check was from my husband's bank.
We then wait 10 days before finally calling to ask when we can pick up the car -- we have to call! We have the car for a week, barely drive it so are unaware there is an issue. Looking forward to learning our new car on our drive south for vacation, we discover WE HAVE NO HEAT! (Electric batteries take a while to heat up enough to supply heat to the car and I hadn't driven it far enough to bother to turn it on.) On the drive home, we hit snow in northern CT (we live in southern VT) and the car is so cold the INSIDE of the windshield literally freezes up, making for a very dangerous drive the final hour and a half.
We make a service appointment and are told 'sorry, we don't have loaners.' When we explain this is a brand new car and something's wrong with it, we are allowed a loaner. My husband arrives at the appointed time and - no loaner. (This gets straightened out, but it was annoying after what we'd been through already.)
We drop a brand-new car with an unknown issue on Monday. We have to call them on Friday because we have heard nothing. We don't know what is wrong, we don't know if they've even looked at it! After hunting down the service director, we start to get calls from the service manager and our adviser.
I call the following Wednesday morning to say we're picking the car up. I ask that the car be tested in a situation like we'd charge it at home: level 2 charger, preconditioning the battery, heating the car, etc., as the issue was with a high-voltage fuse and I don't want to get home, 50 minutes away, to have the fuse blow again. Yep, the car's been tested, heat working, all set.
When my husband arrives, expecting the car to be ready and maybe even a quick courtesy clean, he finds it under a mound of snow and has to clear it off himself. Instead of a fully charged battery, it's less than when he dropped it off.
We signed the paperwork to buy a car on January 31. Today is March 15. We have had the car in our actual possession for only two weeks.
This will be our only car purchased from Country Hyundai, and we plan to have future servicing done at a different dealership.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Judith F.Amherst, MA06Sep 24, 2023
We were on the verge of a deal with one of their salesmen. He went to "talk to his manager," and the manager came over, literally baring his teeth at us, to invalidate what the salesman had said and tell us he couldn't take even 5 dollars off the list price of the used vehicle we were in the middle of bargaining for. He was so aggressive and obnoxious we left.

This dealership is the most disorganized, incompetent auto service center I've ever experienced. Do NOT buy a car from these people! Whatever you do, don't take your car to their service center!

The service department held on to our all electric Ionic 5 ( which by the way we bought from them) for 2 weeks and didn't look at the car because they were waiting for a technician who has knowledge of electric cars. The problem is the car stopped on 495 and we had to pull over and turn it off and on again. They couldn't replicate the problem. But now we know there is a recall of the ICCU. We asked them about the recall. They said the soonest appointment is November. So that is when we are going back to Country Hyundai. My advice to Yelp readers is go elsewhere for an electric car.

This place has all the feels of some mob-owned scammy money laundering chop shop. This is no exaggeration when I say I have NEVER in my 40yo life had to do business with more incompetence than COUNTRY HYUNDAI in Northampton, ma. I've been dealing with them constantly for the last 7-8 months just trying to get some very simple things straightened with my overpriced purchase. I would honestly need a few hours to write the list of nonsense that has transpired between that time. I will say, the one, and only one bright spot was when Sarah finally agreed to give me the loaner car that was promised after multiple attempts.
This email in quotes copied and pasted below will give you an idea of what I've been working with. Mind you, they were still in possession of my car at the time this email was sent and didn't even realize it. I am very concerned my car is in good hands. Yes, the person writing used all caps too. The audacity, and stupidity of them wanting(another) review. Well country Hynduai, you got another! And this won't be the end of my complaints either. GET.YOUR.SHIT.TOGETHER.

Me-" Uh huh you guys still have my car. Never heard from anyone. I called on Thursday and they said they'd call back and didn't. Can someone please give me an update"
Country Hyundai- "YES REACH OU TO ME VIA EMAIL MODAY LATE MORNING ILL HAVE SOME UPDATES FOR YOU. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND"
Enough said! What an absolute joke of a business. Take my advice and stay VERY far from this horrible place unless you want nothing but a headache. I'm going to Gary Rome once this is settled. I'm even considering a Lawsuit for multiple infractions.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
