Was updated on the progress, kept up-to-date of additional out of service parts which required replacement and finished ahead of schedule.
Appreciate Steve and the Clark's Team not only for getting the old Jeep ready to hit the main road again with a complete engine rebuild, but also for giving me something to be proud of under the hood. See you in 500 miles for the first oil change.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dougie S.Mountain View, CA2739Jan 9, 2024
While driving on 280 near 85, one of my ignition coils failed. After searching YELP I ended up at Clark's. The other two auto shops near by looked very shady and dark. Steve did a fantastic job communicating when they can look at the car and then time frame (same day) to get the parts and fix it. I felt well taken care of and would highly recommend this business if you are in the area.

Clark's Auto Repair shop did an Excellent job of replacing my spark plugs and valve cover gasket...all in less than 3 hours! and at a very reasonable cost. I HIGHLY recommend them. They're also very friendly and knowledgeable about cars.

This is the best experience I have ever had in dealing with car issues.
The gentleman at Clark's has helped me with my car twice now and I am recommending this shop to everyone I know. They are honest and don't recommend work you don't need. As someone who is far from an auto expert, I appreciate this. I'm moving to a different part of the bay soon, but will still be bringing my car here for service, because of how stellar the service is. Also, they are just friendly and nice guys and you'll usually get a chance to see some fancy specialty cars when you drop yours off for work--- absolutely a bonus.
I highly recommend this shop and will continue to do so to my friends and family. Thank you for taking care of me on the road and keeping me safe!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Juan G.San Jose, CA01Jul 22, 2023
Steve is a crook, lies to his customers and charges you hours not worked. He does not give a fuck about doing a good job or taking care of customers cars, Ive seen him slam customer car doors in frustration, and lie about the status of a customer car. I HAVE WITNESSED AND LIVED THROUGH IT ALL. He said he will do x amount of work on my car, did half, and charged thousands more of his estimate. HE WILL LIE TO YOUR FACE ABOUT THE WORK HE NEVER INTENDS TO DO, ONLY TO GET A HUGE DEPOSIT. STAY AWAY!!!!!

I'm sorry your upset but these claims are unfounded. I have no record of any customer by this name. I have always been willing to work with customers to resolve problems, but have not had any complaints like this. We have been in business for over 50 years and have always respected customers and their cars. Please come down or repond to our direct message so we can resolve this issue.

A long story bit will make it shorte. The first time they had my car to rebuild a sbc in my classic Ford they had it 4.5 month.
Ok the cam went flat now it's back at Clark's to rebuild the engine again but with a roll cam kit... wait for it 7.5 months later they finally got it done had AAA bring it home, due to rain which I couldn't work o the tran cove to fit the 5sp o/d I had them instal.
Now March got it back on the road again, drove it about 15 miles if that the next day, started it and it sounded like a lifter was a bit loose then pulled it onto the road very slowly and rolling about 10mph the engine started making a deep pounding noise stop a block away from home lifted the hood and listen which side the noise was coming from, closed the hood cheeping back into my driveway and shut it off fast. i called Steve which said there's not space to park it, I said ok then call me when you have a place to park it he's saying call me in a few weeks we'll that got repeatEd a number of times as I get the feeling now of being jacked around now that they owe me a motor 5 weeks of BS then by this time I have go in for lung cancer surgery as soon as I got out of ICU 4 days later I called and was told Steve was out on vacation so , I asked the person who answered the phone if the 40 was being worked on he says last week. Ok I've been h at the VA hospital from March 31 today date April 9 th 2023 hopefully I can go home Monday or Tuesday my wife said Steve left a message last week. The car would not go into gear bc air in the clutch line until pump the clu pedal about 20 times they replaced a front brake line I furniture's all tubing fittings , they reused a 1/4" old clutch tubing which looks like a 16 year old kid did. the chargued me $160 per hr that total 16k once, Im never going back. I hope your luckier then me..Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 2Business owner information

The customer wrote this review 3 weeks before he picked it up for the last time. I called him and he said he wrote it because he was upset but felt bad about writting it and he was happy with the work, the car runs good and that he would write a good review. It ended up only being that there were 4 spark plug wires that melted that he supplied. We rebuilt engine, installed a new 5spd transmission, and did steering/suspension work on his 1940 Ford. He told me he would change or remove the review but cannot find his yelp password.

They rebuilt the engine on my diesel pickup truck and about 2 weeks later the engine seized up again. The most ridiculous thing is they tried to blame it on me. In the end they rebuilt it again but the whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth.

I had to have my valve seals replaced in my 88 GMC pick up. After calling around to shops in my immediate area, I found out that many do not do that particular service and the one or two that did couldn't do them in a timely manner. So I found Clark's here on yelp called and talked to Steve. Steve told me he could do them and have it done by the next afternoon .
I had my truck back quickly and no more blue smoke. This shop did a great job and I am very happy with their work ! Thank you Steve and crew ! I appreciate that you helped me. Steve also gave me a quote and the amount quoted was what I paid ! No surprises ! I highly recommend this business !Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dan G.San Jose, CA072Jan 6, 2023
My 1988 F150 had some issues. Ran OK but sucked gas like crazy and didnt seem to have much power. After a compression test I decided it was time so I searched for a shop that rebuilds engines and was very frustrated to find hardly anybody does this anymore, one shop said "you just cant find those engines anymore" and another quoted $9K to put in one of those Jasper rebuilt blocks. A friend told me Clarks still did it and I am very thankful for that information. I had forgotten that I took something there back in the '80s, probably a brake drum or something, and was happy with the work. They rebuilt MY engine for much less money and lets just say you dont know how bad something is until you fix it. It runs great and has far more power and fuel economy. I only have 200 miles on it so its not broken in but every time I accelerate I am amazed by the difference. Easy to work with and willing to patiently answer even the dumbest questions. Im a happy camper (I will only use the truck to tow a vintage camp trailer) with a great truck. Thanks Clarks!

Unprofessional and does not operate to bureau of automotive repair standards.
Took my cylinder head in for resurface. told me would take a week , took 3 weeks. stated "will call you back" 4 times, not once did he call me back. didn't even call to tell me its done and ready for pick up.
and what takes the cake told me a price over the phone, I agreed , when I come to pick up he increases the price . this is against bureau of automotive repair code and I will be filing a complaint.
don't go to this place there are better shops to go to.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2
