My pup Lestat enjoys his day at Camp Bow Wow. The New Orleans location is where he first learned to socialize with other dogs. The live web cams give me a peace of mind that I can check in on him at any time. The extended business hours are great for when I have late afternoon meetings for work. The enrichment activities, while an extra charge, are great for knowing that he is getting some one-on-one attention. I enjoy seeing the Instagram posts of him during his enrichment. I also love that Camp Bow Wow makes it easy to book at other locations, so I know he has places to play when I'm visiting family out of state.

First off: it's always a matter of when and not IF your dog will get sick here. It's going to happen. I bought a 20-day punch card, usually going twice a week. I still have several days left but will not use them as we recently experienced our 3rd vet visit on account of this place.
Week 1 using the pass: my dog had some stomach bug and had terrible diarrhea all over my entire apartment, even parts of the walls, and lasted for a couple days at least. Cost me a couple hundred at the vet for the visit/testing/medicine. After waiting a couple weeks before she was safe to return, I brought her back and then she got kennel cough even though she was up to date on vaccines (apparently there are some strains that aren't covered). Another couple hundred at the vet, at least. Most recently, during this terrible heatwave we've been having, she came back suffering from heat exhaustion. She didn't pee for 10 hours, uninterested in water, and extremely lethargic. $130 vet visit. (Also, I once picked her up and her mouth was bleeding: no explanation, no staff member addressed it!).
Biggest issue that I experienced regularly: overexertion. They claim they give your pet rest periods and yet somehow every single day I picked her up from daycare, she could barely move for the rest of the night. Some days, she'd be back to herself by morning; other days, I had to refrain from too long of walks because she was still out of it. Compare this to the hands-down BEST doggy daycare in town, hosted by Crescent City Vet, where they limit the number of dogs allowed in the yard, they limit the hours IN the yard per dog, and my pet never ever came back a zombie. She was decently tired but never to the point of total exhaustion.
Camp Bow Wow has far too many dogs in their yard. They do not monitor the dogs well or give them vital breaks. In this heatwave, it caused heat exhaustion which could have developed into something much worse if I hadn't kept her home and rested for the days following.
I am shocked at the rating, to be honest. You want a good daycare with caring, compassionate and knowledgeable staff and policies? Get yourself to Crescent City Vet ASAP. Avoid Camp Bow Wow at all costs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly D.New Orleans, LA0369Sep 8, 2023
After using them a great deal in the last two years their business is really changed and gone downhill.
We sent our boy to obedience training, doggy daycare and even boarded him there.
I could never recommend them again after what happened to my boy last week.
He was badly bitten and scratched, and we were not notified of any problem. In addition to this he stank of marijuana when we picked him up.
After numerous attempts to reach the manager Erica we finally did connect and she saw the pictures of our poor boy. While they did refund the money we had left in a package we purchased, there was no apology and no explanation of why our dog smelled like marijuana.
She had the temerity to suggest that we were smoking it in the car with him. Not something we indulge in. Ever.
All dogs tussle a bit at doggy daycare, it's just some thing owners need to be aware of but this was extreme and I'm sure you can see from the pictures this should have been tolerated. This is a large shy dogHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly D.French Quarter, New Orleans, LA1111412Feb 15, 2022

If our dog was writing this review, he would certainly give them 5 stars. He absolutely loves going to daycare here. He is amped to a high degree anytime he's in the car and he suspects we are dropping him off.
The staff is super friendly to us. I suspect they take really good care of our guy. No reason to believe otherwise.
You can make reservations online or over the phone. They offer day care, grooming and boarding.
My one knock on Camp Bow Wow is that the place feels a little corporate. We've done another day care in town that has a more personal feel. They certainly know us and our dog better at the other site. Still, Camp Bow Wow is filled with animal lovers and they do take nice care of our pup.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kharissa N.New Orleans, LA036Jun 21, 2020
Would absolutely NOT recommend. Brought my 8 month old boy to camp for his initial interview with a friend of mine. He passed with flying colors but my friend's dog was deemed too nervous to stay at camp. We left my dog and he seemed to be quiet happy playing. Got him back and saw he had bite marks on his face. The camp didn't give us any information about him getting hurt and we ended up chalking it up to him just playing too hard.
Today, I dropped him off for doggy day care. Their website said they opened at 7am but it turns out that they didn't open until 8am! This threw off our plans, but we dropped him off anyways. When we picked him up in the afternoon, everything seemed fine until we realized his jaw was swollen. Turns out a dog bit the inside of his mouth! He was even drooling blood! The staff didn't tell me ANYTHING about my dog being injured. This marks the second time in a row that the camp has given me my pup back injured with no explanation as to what happened. I can't believe they didn't know it happened but if they did then that just proves to me that they are incompetent at watching the amount of dogs they board.
Do NOT trust your baby with this place. I feel guilty for even putting him in that situation.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 14, 2018
We love Camp Bow Wow. We have used them for years in both Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
The New Orleans location here is great. We have taken our dog here for just the day or days at a time overnight.
The staff is friendly and the place is amazing. They have also done the grooming, nail clippings and all has been wonderful.
Enjoy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jill C.New Orleans, LA73178915Dec 13, 2019
Bring my puppies here whenever we are out of town. They love the community and Caine home exhausted from all the good play time.
You can also drop them off for day care. And request a bath.
The staff is amazing. My puppies don't even look back to say goodbye to me. They are so excited to go.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lindsey K.New Orleans, LA260237140Apr 16, 2019
My first stay with CBW was really positive! My dog, a boxer-pitbull mix, did well doing her test interview, and we had a successful weekend stay. However, her next visit didn't go so well. I dropped her off Friday morning, and received a call Saturday evening. The voicemail told me they had "concerns" about my dog and she needed to be picked up early.
Obviously, I freaked out, since it was 7pm on a Saturday night and I was all the way in Nashville, not to return until Sunday night. I finally got through to the front office, and was told my dog had "attacked" another dog and needed to be picked up ASAP.
Panicking, I changed my flight to come back early (which cost $200) and was there first thing the next day. The person who had called me about the incident was no longer there, and the new workers seemed very chilled out about what had happened. They told me to email the manager to get video footage and see what exactly happened. Obviously, if you're told that your dog attacked another dog and has been kicked out, you'd like to see what happened!
Unfortunately, three emails to the manager went unanswered, and I wasn't offered a refund or even a discount for what I had to go through. I definitely don't think I'd recommend this daycare for anyone who has an excitable, young dog. They pack the dogs in to full capacity, and are completely unhelpful and uninterested in helping you once you've paid the bill.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ashley C.Harvey, LA03Oct 9, 2022
I recently started bringing my dog to camp bow wow on Tchoupitoulas. Sunday October 2nd I dropped him off early in the morning and did pick him back up until 6pm that night, so roughly 12 hours almost. My dog is very energetic and outgoing. When arriving home my mother in law noticed right away something was wrong because he usually jumps all over her. He didn't this day or has since actually. About an hour of being home I noticed him limping in his back leg. When observing his foot I noticed a huge part of the foot where the skin had been ripped off and his whole paw was purple. Camp bow wow never mentioned anything to when picking up. When I called about it the first time the women I spoke to was rude and brushed me off but still took my number. I did not receive a call back from them, so I called again and spoke to the manager Taylor. She was very nice and said she would look at cameras and get back to me...it's been three days and I've heard NOTHING from anyone. I had to bring my boy to the vet and get antibiotics for his cut and he has been acting so weird since that day. I do not recommend this place what so ever.
