My first encounter with Dr Chesnie was in April of 2012. I was living on the East Coast at the time and ended up in Hoag hospital after a cardiac event while attending a dinner in Newport Beach. After every test available, non of the cardiac specialists could figure out the problem. Dr Chesnie was the last in the room and said "My colleagues wanted me to take a look at you but after looking at you chart, I think you're good to go." The he pulled the heart monitor in view and said "I'm just going to check one thing, watch has the monitor". He then pressed my neck and and the monitor went flat. When he released his hand, my heart forgot to start back up as the nurse came busting into the room. Dr Chesnie waved her off and my heart had restarted but the pause was a bit too long. Dr Chesnie recommended that I have a pacemaker implanted. From this point he really showed his character and compassion. He explained everything and then said, "Talk it over with your doctor and let me know what you want to do". No pressure, no panic, just solid reason. I spent the next day talking with my doctor, and several friends who were also physicians. The consensus was yes, a pacer makes sense so Dr Chesnie became my new heart Doc! I stayed back East for a few more years and saw a cardio back there. What a factory. As soon as I came back, I called and scheduled with Dr Chesnie and have been with him since.
Most recently I screwed up and ran out of blood pressure meds and my BP got out of whack. My GP added a new med and over the weekend I wasn't doing great and ended up in the ER. I was scheduled to see Dr Chesnie later in the month but low and behold I get a phone call from the office to see if I could come in that afternoon. Perfect timing. Got checked out by Dr Chesnie but the best part is you sit with him in the comfort of his personal office and discuss the plan moving forward. It just a great small practice in casual and relaxing atmosphere. And Dr Chesnie knows his ....Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Steve ..San Francisco, CA04Jul 21, 2023
Wouldn't recommend any other cardiologist, and I saw a few others before seeing Dr. Chesnie. His resume, training, and experience are impressive. His knowledge, compassion, and care got me through a very difficult period after being diagnosed with AF. The practice is similar to that of a concierge doctor's office. Dr. Chesnie has always spent a great deal of time with me at my appointments and I never feel rushed. You will deal with Dr. Chesnie directly and not a PA. The practice consists of Dr. Chesnie, and Tamara and Vickie at the front desk, who are both exceptional! I feel as though I have been blessed by finding such a great doctor!

Did not care for his style of treatment. I do not recommend him! Beware of over charge and poor treatment.

I wish to respond to this person’s critical and unpleasant comments.
This medical practice is very unique. I have been practicing cardiology now for close to 40 years. It has never been a “business model practice”! Ever!
The model has been built carefully and over time as a “compassionate care practice”.
There are 3 of us, me the doctor, the office manager and overall administrator, who happens to be my wife, and Tamara, with us 7 years, speaks to patients on the phone, arranges appointments, and generally helps out.
We are a very casual office. We purposely are “non-clinical” in the way we dress. We make every effort to be kind, respectful, on time, educational, and most importantly, we take care of people. Not perfect, not always a good fit, but it is our core value system!
This person was seen on time, was listened to very carefully, and the problems were addressed in a very thorough, educational, and optimistic way. That is what I try to do for everyone.
We do not “overcharge”! That claim is simply preposterous! My expertise and time are worth something and I spend as much time as needed to help a person through their scheduled time. (In fact, his bill after insurance was $31.00)
I have no idea where this person is coming from but I believe that it also has to do with “The Times” we’re living in. We are all seeing disturbing things unfolding in our country: increased anger, polarization and, in general, a lack of civility.
I understand that my office and I may not be the right fit for everyone, but what this person did by taking the time to try and damage me is simply wrong!

Dr Chesnie was rude, berating me for even being there when he was so busy and backed up. I didn't make the appointment, his scheduler did so maybe he should talk to them. I was most uncomfortable the entire visit. He spent most of my visit telling me he had no time to treat me & I put him in a bind because ethically he now had to treat me!? Like, why would I possibly go back to him for follow up tests?
I felt so uncomfortable & stressful the entire visit.Helpful 1Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 2May 28, 2018Previous reviewDr Chesnie is an A+ cardiologist. He spends time with his patients, is caring, extremely knowledgeable, and has wonderful patient rapport.

I absolutely adore Dr. Chesnie. I have been a patient of his for 17 years.
He gives it to you like it is, and challenges you, in the nicest way possible. He really is on your side!
He explains things really well, and has been able to answer any question I have ever thrown at me.
He is good at comforting you and makes you feel at ease.
I am so very happy he is my doctor.
His office is cozy. Parking is easy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Gertrud,
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. I hope my note finds you to be well. You’re our favorite Danish patient!
We do try very hard in our practice to personalize care, make it about the person, educate, explain, reassure, and take care of.
Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you again.

Amazing doctor. Listened to all my concerns and addressed all of them! Its great to have a doctor like Dr chesnie who makes you feel so comfortable during a stressful period or when your not feeling so well. I am so glad I was referred here. Working in healthcare, theres not many doctors that take time to listen and explain things to patients. Dr chesnie is a rare gem! Excellent office staff as well. Felt like family. Clean and organized office as well :)

The good doctor is very straight forward. I have had two episodes at Hoag regarding a stroke and CHF. He guided me through all tests and meds as needed. Will follow his advice and help as long as I can. TY Dr. Chesnie for a very stressful period in my life.
