Food: Authentic Bangladeshi food in the Bay Area. You find items like "Kacchi biryani", "Chicken Roast", and "Goat Rezala" which are very uncommon. IMO, Bangladeshi cuisine is more meat-heavy and somewhat less spicy compared to Indian cuisine. If that sounds good to you, you must check it out!
Ambiance: You don't come here for the ambiance. The setup is very ad-hoc with 2-3 tables only. If that's not your vibe, order takeout.
Service: Very fast, contactless payments. If you are ordering takeout, you will be in and out within a few minutes.
Parking: Huge parking lot outside!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Onjali P.San Jose, CA03715Apr 7, 2024
My first time here. I did a takeaway. When I reached home, I was charged for large fish... when I really got a very small one..small size.
I was cheated, considering that I told them that I drove all the way from Campbell
Very very disappointedHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 12, 2023
Must visit for Bengali food lovers. Go there for the food not for service or ambiance. Tight place with good bengali food
We ordered:
1. Fish chop
2. Fish cutlet
3. Chicken Kathi roll
4. Chicken biryani
Fish chop, fish cutlet were good apps with mustard and tamarind sauce.
Chicken biryani Bengali style was great, don't expect spicy Hyderabadi flavor. It's a mild but flavorful Bengali style.
Chicken Kathi roll was disappointing with very dry chicken filling.
Overall a good experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 5, 2023
We tried Bangladeshi foods from the East Coast, Mid US, and West Coast- Bongo's is probably the best restaurant for Hilsha, Rui, Dal, Vaji, Rice, Doi, Misti, Morog Polao, Porota, Goat Curry and their service and people! They have limited seating capacity but are good enough to have 15+ people inside and 10+ people outside!

I ordered the Mughlai Paratha. Half of it is inedible, the other half tasty, that's why I gave it a 2.5 (average of 0 and 5)! Read on for more details.
The mughlai paratha supposed to be thin and filled with minced chicken, egg, etc.. The chef here apparently missed the "thin" part. The bottom side is edible, but the part inside the top part has raw dough inside (see picture). My biggest question is why make it so thick?!
Secondly, this supposed to be deep fried in oil, not cooked in oven. Even the shape of the paratha is strange, it was always rectangular, not square. Come on this is not Sephard's pie!
Overall, this is not Mughlai paratha, it's a doughy version of it, avoid it!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Abheek S.San Jose, CA012Dec 31, 2023
5 star for the rosogollas and 4 star for Chicken kosha. The fish fry and mughlai paratha however, was thoroughly disappointing.

Was visiting the Fremont area and so finally ordered in from Bongo's to satisfy my Bengali fish curry cravings.
I ordered the Hilsa curry ie shorshe illish.
The taste of the curry itself was definitely a 3.8 star. The hilsa fish was a little over cooked but I am happy to have found it's curry in mustard paste and oil in the Bay Area. I cooked some steamed rice and had a good meal out of it. Would want to try other items on their menu.
Btw, beware - there was an extraordinary amount of oil floating on top of the curry, I was able to drain out just 1/3rds of it ( see picture ).Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 21, 2022
TLDR: Good food but really greasy!
Chanced upon this Bengali food joint in Fremont. Known for their sweets Bengali fish is famous for their curries made in mustard oil.
Not the fanciest joint and we decided to take the food to go.
Tried their Fish in mustard oil -Sorshe Illish, Goat Rezalla and misthi doi! Absolutely loved the flavors and had the right amount of spice.
Only concern was the amount of grease in the curries! Had to drain a good amount of grease before digging in.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - MandS R.San Ramon, CA0724Aug 14, 2023
Authentic Bangladeshi food with items not found in typical Indian restaurants. A little on the pricey side for what you get, but their specialty dishes are not generally found elsewhere.
The standard fish curry and roast chicken are generally good, but the kacchi biryani can be hit-or-miss, sometimes being the meat being dry and less succulent and the rice not being fragrant.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nandani M.Santa Clara, CA28128307Aug 28, 2022
Small place with Bengali cuisine. We tried the egg and chicken roll which was good and not oily at all. Fresh ingredients and paired well with the chutney.
Matar kachori is a must try item here. We loved it with the chicken gravy.
The hilsa fish mustard gravy was okay, the gravy lacked the depth of flavor that I was looking for.
The rasogulla were disappointing as well as they had become hard.
All items were decently priced except for the fish but I do understand those are expensive in general.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
