Robert B.
Repairing and restoring classic, vintage and older muscle cars. A service exclusively for mid-century GM, Ford, Chrysler, other American vehicles and many imports. We are a mobile repair and component restoration service for classic and vintage cars and trucks. Owner Robert Blade's technical experience with 1940s, 50's, 60's, and early 70's vintages began just as the third decade of these "classics" were hitting the showrooms. Mobile Service means that repairs are made where the car is garaged, stored, or displayed. This service approach is designed for the convenience of the owner. Repairs are often performed promptly without relocating the vehicle. There is no need to search for a shop willing to attempt an unfamiliar repair, nor, risk to your classic while it sits waiting for a "present day shop to find and vet obsolete or used parts.

I was very disappointed all around with my experience with Blade's Mobile Repair.
He promotes himself on his website as Mobile Repar for Classic, Vintage Cars & Trucks. He was apparently an Automotive Teacher for many years, and sounded like a great option to have work on my vintage truck.
He only offers a phone number on his website -- no texting, emails or in-person communication.
I called and had a voicemail that asked me to leave all the details about my vehicle and was told he would call me back.
I did so, and then waited almost 2 months for a response which I never received -- I would have taken my truck somewhere else or made other plans to have it fixed so it wouldn't be sitting around unusable all summer and fall, but he seemed like a great fit for what I wanted so I kept holding out hope he would eventually return my call.
I eventually pretty much just gave up on him, assuming maybe he was having health issues or was no longer working and had just left his Yelp and website active.
I decided to make one more phone call and out of the blue someone picked up the phone. They didn't seem very happy and didn't say anything like "Blade's Mobile Repair, can I help you?" -- just sort of a grumpy "Yes?"
I was like, oh hello, is this Blade's Mobile Repair -- "yes"
Are you still doing work? "yes, I only work on vintage vehicles"
Yes, I left a message a few months ago and never heard back? "tell me what you have and where it is"
So I repeated all the stuff I told him in the voicemail. He eventually told me he was going through messages and would get back to me shortly.
It's been about a year now and I have never heard back from him.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 13, 2022Previous reviewI left a message for him and never heard back ... not sure if he is still in business?

I can't say enough great things about Bob Blade and his mobile mechanic service. He's been out a few times to my house in Napa County to maintain and tune my 6v original engine 1955 Thunderbird. He is patient and does a great job explaining what is going on and what needs to be fixed. He really cares and the Tbird has never run better.

Excellent experience with Bob fixing my 70 Firebird. I was having multiple electrical issues which he identified with ease and fixed quickly. Super nice and super honest. He only works on classics not newer cars and trucks. Just call him!!!

If you have a classic car and need it tinkered with, call Robert Blade. He'll come out to you and fix what needs to be done. As an added bonus, if you want to learn what the issues are, he's also a great teacher. I have a 1955 Packard and have called Robert out twice to help me diagnose fuel and electrical issues. His fees are very straight-forward and his service is excellent. Highly recommended.
