Another stellar 5 star meal at Bin 56. Love this little hangout and can't wait to come back!! Mussels are phenomenal and so is the tender octopus !! Brussels sprouts have the best yogurt sauce ever! BF and my beautiful daughter had the pumpkin filled pasta and lobster ravioli. They are in a food coma. Great Riesling!
Came in tonight for an early Sunday night dinner and I was sadly disappointed. I think there was a pinch-hitter chef? I had a couple of bad mussels and I'm praying I don't get sick.
Bf's pumpkin ravioli wasn't nearly as good as the last 2 times we dined here.
Scallops were over cooked.
Next time, we will endure the crowds on a weekend night to insure the excellent food Daniel and his chef are neighborhood renowned for!!
We went back there last night for dinner and you start open table $50 gift card. It was supposed to be $60 but open table is difficult these days
Daniel was happy to see us and greeted us warmly. We sat at the bar and ordered the following..
Beet salad without cheese which was pretty good
Brussels sprouts which weren't that crispy but pretty good
Bf had lobster ravioli which he said wasn't as good as the first time. It's kind a like chasing that first gourmet food high
Ahi tuna which was okay
Ceviche special which was acidic
Overall, it was just pretty good. Nothing to write home about. I think they need to step up their game a little bit and add new items to the menu... just sayin'Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0Oct 21, 2018Previous reviewAnother stellar 5 star meal at Bin 56. Jun 24, 2018Previous reviewDan is the owner and he knows how to run it. Octopus is tender and flavorful! Scallops with cauliflower purée is tasty. Brussels sprouts are perfectly done with a delicious sauce on the side. Beets are served with mint and pistachios which is a nice touch. Great fig vodka straight up is great! We will be back very soon! We came back tonight and what a metamorphosis! Dan is on par with everything. We sat on a comfy couch while the restaurant was hyper popular and crowded yet gracious and welcoming. The chef is Michelin quality! BF was completely kvelling over the lobster ravioli with truffle. To die for. He's passed out dreaming of black and white truffles. I'm upstairs reliving this phenomenal dinner. Brussels sprouts were spectacular!!!i Great evening!!!

After having visiting Croatia over the summer, we were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant that served Cevapi and Fuzi!!
The food was cooked perfectly and came out quick. We ordered 8 tapas sized plates three at a time and weren't rushed to finish our food before we ordered our next set.
Danny, the owner, was amazing and even gave us Istrian wine which was also a plus!
It gets busy on a Friday and Saturday night during peak hours, so I would recommend going a little early and/or definitely make a reservation.
Definitely recommended and I wouldn't hesitate to bring friends here for the food and incredible wine selection. Especially since you can't just get the food here from anywhere!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 2, 2012
I would love to give Bin 56 more than 3 stars...but I just can't do it! 3.5 really, but not a 4. And it's not for lack of trying. I've been to this establishment three times now, and it is a pretty little find tucked away on the outskirts of Huntington Village. Granted, there aren't a whole lot of wine bars that exist on the island, and I am still waiting for one to knock my socks off.
The atmosphere of this place is great, a nice intimate little date spot with couches, comfy chairs and candlelight. The one thing that irks me about the interior is the fake vine painted on the support column in the middle of the restaurant. I don't know why this bothers me so much, but it does. I don't feel like it "fits" with the rest of the decor. That's just MHO.
As others have stated, there isn't an amazing selection of wine, but some good choices to be had. However, more to choose from would be nice, maybe spice it up with a few special imports each month. I would like to see that. I did notice that the tapas change (seasonally?) but still not a huge selection here. This is not a place to come to if you're expecting a huge meal, rather a place to come to when the evening is winding down. I also thought that $11 for two measly chicken sticks was a bit outrageous. There wasn't that much chicken on it, and they were o.k.
$40 for two glasses of wine and a little nosh. So, not a place to come to all the time as it can get a bit pricey. However, I'd say it's worth checking out. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, so a plus for that, and they'll give you a taste of wine which is also nice. At about $10 a glass, it's always a good idea to sip before you buy. As per usual, I recommend the Riesling. Salute!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for the review! Bin 56 is under new management, and we have completely revised the wine list; it now consists entirely of artisan, small production wines from regions that are known and off it beaten path, as well; it will be constantly changing. We also just released our new tapas menu. Hope to see you again soon!

This place is great! It is a bit tight because its small but that is part of the charm.
Ive been here twice, the first time my lovely wife rented out the entire place for my birthday. Dan the owner is pretty much there all the time. My party was great, my wife was very happy with the attention given to her when planning it and everyone at the party was very pleased with the service food wise and at the bar. The drinks flowed and it was an excellent time all around. For the party we had I think 7 different dishes, and there was so much food left over, I had enough for maybe 3 additional meals, and no one went hungry that night so the food was plentiful. I took a gander at the menu that night and said wow so many things to choose from that we didn't get. We had to come again.
And we did, a dinner for four was great, service again was top notch and the food spot on.
If I had to complain at all and I must, the prices we a tad high, just a tad, but still worth it and I will come back again! I still recommend it to anyone needing a new place in Huntington.
If you haven't been, you need to. If you are able, rent out the place for a special event. I was happy my wife was happy and she said she would do it again in a heartbeat. So high marks for this place.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Marissa H.Huntington, NY2492224Mar 24, 2018
I really enjoyed the atmosphere in this small wine bar. The wine was great, the food was even better! My boyfriend and I go to a lot of wine bars, but this one definitely makes its way to the top of my list. We started off with a glass of red wine and a cheese board. The Slavonian Style Kulen (Soppressata) is definitely a must try. We then ordered a few small plates to share, scallops, octopus, and lobster ravioli. Everything was great. I am so happy to have a wine bar right in Huntington village. Bin 56 will definitely be my new go-to!

I went here on a Friday night and we had a 9pm reservation for 2. The minute we walked in we were immediately seated in a table with two nice comfortable chairs (think living room armchairs). The dining area isn't tremendous, but they do a terrific job of maximizing space without making you feel crowded. I really was able to enjoy a nice intimate experience with my wife.
The waitress we had was great. She knew just the right times to come and attend to us without ever seeming intrusive or disruptive. This seems like a small detail, but I really appreciate that because I do not get many nights out with the wife.
The food was excellent. Its a tapas place, but the plates range in size. We ordered four dishes for two people and left very full. The highlight was the calamari which was fried PERFECTLY and had an amazing sauce. We also had the Chorizo and Yucca, Fish Tacos and Steak Crostini. All of these items were great.
We were not in the mood for wine, but they had some good choices in terms of beers. All in we both left very happy in that we found a new go-to spot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joe A.Syosset, NY123141374Jul 15, 2015
Bin 56 is a tiny restaurant and while there are some things that I didn't love, overall this is a solid spot with very good food and an amazing wine list.
This place is tiny, there are maybe 3 lounge style tables (living room style chairs with small tables), 1 small bistro table and a large communal table. I have to say I hate, I mean HATE, communal seating at a restaurant. Hell, I don't even like it if my table is too close to another table when I go out. So to me this was a big negative, but with limited choices we ended up sitting there. Also, because this place is so tiny, it gets loud quickly, be prepared.
There appears to only be two people working as servers, the bartender and the maitre d. Shortly after we sat the bartender came over to take our drink order. She got both wrong. My wife ordered a glass of white champagne and I ordered a Bluepoint Summer Ale, my wife received a glass of rose champagne and I received a Greenport Summer Ale. Close, but not what we ordered. We didn't say anything because both were good, but really it shouldn't be too hard to remember 2 drink orders when you have to walk 10 feet away to get them, maybe she should try writing them down. Just saying. 15 minutes went by and she finally came back to take our order, if the place was busy I would have been a bit more OK with this, but there was only maybe 3 other couples at this time.
We ordered 3 different tapas, fried calamari, crab and lobster cakes and Jack Daniels BBQ Short Ribs. The fried calamari was AMAZING. Honestly the best I've had in a long time. Fresh, fried perfectly and topped with a delicious sauce. The crab and lobster cakes were exactly that, crab and lobster. Some places load these up with fillers, not Bin 56. They were flakey and delicious just like they should be. The Short Ribs were also really good, a bit salty, but tasty. The entire time we were eating the maitre d made sure we were good with drinks. They even ran out of the champagne that my wife was drinking and he recommended another which she loved. He made up for the sub par service by the bartender.
Overall, the food was 5 stars, the service was 4 stars (only because of the maitre d) and the ambiance 3 stars. Will we be back? Maybe, but only if we have a table other than the communal table.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 6, 2017
A nice little place away from the Huntington crowd so parking is a breeze. The only drawback is that it's very small and very loud. It was a Friday night, so I made a reservation and my date and I snagged the sofa in the back corner. Most of the other patrons sit at communal hightops. I have to say it was kind of odd facing everyone's knees and such, but we weren't there for the view. We shared a few dishes and all were delicious. The standout dish of the evening was the Fig and Brie Crostini with serrano ham, candied walnuts and drizzled with honey. It was absolutely delicious. I'd love to go back. But maybe next time, I'd choose a weeknight.

Being a huge fan of tapas (small plate appetizers) and always looking to explore more of Long Island, the mad Russsian and I headed over to Huntington. Knowing what we wanted to eat, the only other thing to do was choose which of the many great restaurants Huntington has to offer.
The good news is that we wound up at Bin 56. Since we arrived earlier in the evening, we could snag a choice of seating. We chose the bar that wraps along the left as you enter the front door. Other options include high top tables inside the front of the restaurant and lower seating toward the back and right of this cozy and warm restaurant. Additional outdoor seating is available in front on the sidewalk.
Great music playing in the background- ambient and latin, the low but not dark lighting, glass panelled cabinet doors lit from behind in the bar area and comfortable seating set the stage for what would become an excellent meal.
Michelle, our bartender/server offered us resfreshments and offered the mad Russian a sample of the reisling before comitting to the drier variety. She promised I would enjoy the red sangria and did not break her promise. She then offered us an array of tapas specials which all sounded delicious but we had our eyes on several from the menu.
In no particular order, we ordered:
Crispy Calamari
Ceviche
Lamb Meatballs
Sesame crusted Tuna
All of the tapas were excellent in taste and presentation and we even scored big when we made a new friend who was also seated at the bar and dining as well- giving us the opportunity to swap even more food and enabled us to try the Cocas - a Spanish style flat bread pizza that was out of this world good. This particular one was topped with, among other things, Prosciutto and red peppers.
To cap off the meal we chose a flourless chocolate cake served with whipped cream and peanut butter ( see this and other pictures attached).
The chef, from Patos de Minas, Brazil really hit a home run for us by providing a beautiful and tasty meal. We also look forward to coming back and being greeted by the staff who was very attentive and friendly. Aldo (spelling?), the owner came over and chatted us up a bit and did so with every patron all night. With So many tapas to choose from, I'm sure we will be back several times to try them all.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Mar 6, 2009First to Review
Wine Anyone?
Brand spanking new, Bin 56 has brought a dedicated little place where you can bring a date or some friends and have some wine and tapas. Not just an afterthought, Bin 56 focuses on wines.
The place overall is small- but they manage to get plenty of seats in there - they really utilize what they had to work with!
Tapas menu was pretty good overall- and what we had was tasty and went well with our wines. The wine by the glass selection could have been a little more comprehensive in my opinion.
Prices were average for the area.
Parking behind in a dirt lot or on the street.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0
