This might be my new favorite pizza in Chicago! I used to crave Lou mals until Baraby's! I have been going to chicago for 45 years and this is the first time I have ever tried it. Wow that sausage pizza is amazing! It's really old and dainty inside but very very clean. I wish they had a server so that I didn't have to walk up to the bar every time I wanted a drink but hey that's how they roll. I will be going back very soon!

My favorite pizza place of all time! My mom dad and a lot of my family have been eating there forever. I lived around this pizza place my whole life so I'm sad that I'm gone away and now it's closed temporarily thank God! I hope it opens up when you get a chance to try the best pizza in Chicago!

Oh gosh, what's not to love about this place! It's a family owned pizza place. Tons of pizza options, plus a variety of bar foods. They also have a good selection of beers.
I love my pizza right out of the oven burning hot, and my biggest annoyance is when I dine-in is pizza becoming cold after the first slice. This is NOT the case here. The pizza was deliciously hot up until we were ready to pack our leftovers. The pizza was not oily, and the crust was crisp and flaky.
If you're near Ohare, I highly highly recommend coming here.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Malav D.Johns Creek, GA21130381Sep 7, 2019
We've been coming to Barnaby's restaurant for many years now, used to go to the one in Schaumburg when it was open but now we go to Downers Grove.
Their pizza is really good especially the crust! I love the crunchiness and quality ingredients in their pizza. There are so many tables at this restaurant that we haven't found a need to even make a reservations. You will always be able to find a spot to sit down and have a good time. Worth a visit if you're craving for some delicious pizza!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jan 5, 2018
You walk into Barnaby's and are immediately greeted by a homey, welcoming vibe. The inside has dim lights, is festively decorated and has about 60 small booths. You order at the front before grabbing your seat and they call your order number when it's ready.
Barnaby's specializes in thin crust pizzas which are refreshing since Chicago is known for its deep dish. We ordered the 14" pizza with pineapples and jalapeños and it was delicious! Super crispy and flaky crust, just the right amount of cheese and plenty of toppings. It's piping hot and stayed that way until we were done eating.
For two people the 14" is more than enough. We packed a third of it for later. The 10" and an app might have been a good amount of food too, for two people.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carm A.Des Plaines, IL216633329Dec 27, 2019

I drive by a Barnaby's every so often when in the Chicago area and think, "I need to stop in there sometime." I credit them and Little Caesar's to my childhood obesity - both totally different, but to my immature taste buds, I loved them both.
I remember Barnaby's as a thin pizza with a layer of greasy cheese on top. I ordered a sausage, mushroom and spinach pizza, and I'll have to say, it was pretty damn good. I don't remember them having a corn meal crust, but hey - it's been 35-40 years since I've eaten their pizza. I really loved the crust - perfect texture and a bit crispy.
I ordered a 10" and had a hard time stopping myself from eating more than half. (Well, I did, but I still had leftovers.)
Some atmosphere as I remember as a child - dark, and while open, comfortable. And of all things for them to keep "like it was", no free refills. That's ok, we drink too much soda anyhow.
Can't wait to eat the leftovers tomorrow.
And, the lady at the counter was very nice.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 7, 2016
Pizza was really good. The crust was nice and crisp. The sauce used was flavorful.
The only bad that I have to say was the entire layout of the restaurant. First off we were not sure if we had to seat ourselves. We didn't know we had to go to the counter and order our food and then have a seat. After ordering we sat down and didn't realize we had to go to the counter at the other end to pick up our drinks.
Overall it was just a confusing clusterf**k when it comes to service. I really enjoyed the beer after figuring out how to get our food and drinks lolHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ivn G.Chicago, IL1035216Jun 18, 2020
Y'all this is the best pizza in the Chicago area. Been coming here since I was a kid, great place to bring the family, order some sides, pizza, beer!
I currently live in Los Angeles and always look forward to stopping here on the way home!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 14, 2019
I've driven by this location often and finally decided to give this Barnaby's a try. It's been quite awhile since I visited one, so I was looking forward to seeing their current look.
And that current look was the exact same look that they've had for some 50 years. Traditions are great if there's something worth remembering. But at Barnaby's, nothing really stands out - at least atmosphere-wise. It's a dark place without much zippity-do-dah. So my hopes were with the food.
I decided to try their onion rings while waiting for a large sausage pizza. I did think that their pricing was pretty well valued on their appetizers and entrees Their pizzas are about average pricewise, however their soft drinks are NOT bottomless - it's pay per drink and while a single drink is equitably priced, additional thirst comes at a cost that is more than most restaurants.
Anyway - as for the O rings, they were pretty decent, though clearly of the frozen pre-made variety. Now, pizza-wise, I've heard that the Northbrook Barnaby's has some of the best pizza to be found. Not sure if all their locations use the same recipe, but I'm guessing they don't because while this pizza was pretty interesting and had a really different crust, it won't be elected to the Pizza Hall of Fame anytime soon. The crust was kind of firm - almost hard, but definitely chewable. A light cornmeal dusting added to its quality. However the pizza itself was only so-so. I liked that it was cut a little smaller than most - made for a few extra meals at home. But the flavor was lacking - especially where the sauce and spices are concerned. Sausage was OK. And while I didn't notice any greasy issues while consuming it, there was a slight aftertaste that I didn't care much for. It did reheat in the microwave pretty well.
Maybe I'll stop again sometime to try an Italian Beef or combo. But I won't be making much of an effort to given the absence of free refills on soda.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
