My recent experience at AJ Professional Detailing was nothing short of exceptional. I brought in my BMW for a much-needed wash and detailing, and I couldn't be happier with the results.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a packed lot, indicating that AJ Professional Detailing was in high demand. However, the owner, Mason, went out of his way to assist me despite the busy schedule. He took the time to understand my needs and provided valuable insights into the condition of my car, along with the available options for service.
I followed Mason's recommendation, and I'm thrilled with the outcome. The detailing job surpassed my expectations, leaving my car looking and feeling pristine. The attention to detail and the glossy finish were truly impressive.
What truly sets AJ Professional Detailing apart is their dedication to customer satisfaction. Despite the busy day, Mason and his team ensured that I received top-notch service and even provided me with a sample of their product for future maintenance.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mason and the entire team at AJ Professional Detailing for their outstanding work and exceptional customer service. I'll definitely be returning for any future detailing needs and highly recommend them to anyone seeking professional automotive care. AJ Professional Detailing has earned my trust and loyalty. Keep up the fantastic work!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike R.San Jose, CA024Apr 22, 2024
I recently took my car to AJ Professional Detailing for the first time, and let me tell you, they've won a loyal customer. I had a complete 'In and Out Detail' with ceramic coating applied, and the results were incredible. In fact, when I picked it up the transformation was so amazing that I barely recognized my car. It looked like it had just rolled off the showroom floor! My car looked good before, but AJ Detailing removed all those minor scratches and brought back the car's original shine. The engine bay was immaculately detailed, and the interior looks brand new again. The ceramic coating is amazing - water now beads right off, and even pollen dusts off easily. I am beyond satisfied with AJ Detailing's work and highly recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional service!

Really great service hands down. Got on the phone and called as they were closing at 3pm Sunday, I came from Oakland arrived at 1:45pm. They checked condition of the car and made sure to get it done. Got out 5pm after hours and Wow! I got the complete exterior and they were running a special for some sort of sealant which brought out the gloss. Amazing work, the place is under new owner so disregard the old reviews. Definitely coming back , without a doubt amazing service. You can only imagine condition I brought it in from second picture being stuck in mud .

They did a good work on exterior but interior?
Their price numbers listed on the website are just estimates not the final price. I was charged $25 extra.
From their wbesite: "Please note that all prices are based on the condition of the vehicle. Oversized & heavily soiled vehicles are subject to an extra charge."
So, be informed if you are choose here. As there are no standard way to quantify light vs heavily soiled car, that goes in their favour. You might be charged anywhere between 25% and 40% over their listed price for your car size. I paid about $180 for compact SUV interior and exterior cleaning.
They charged $25 extra and ended up not cleaning well. They should have informed me, if they do not remove these stains. These are waxy sun screen spilled by the kids and not some tough to remove stains.
An expensive and not so good car cleaning service!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nancy C.San Jose, CA05Apr 5, 2024
Unfortunately, I won't be returning for any service. Absolutely no attention to detail:
1. Dashboard was not cleaned. I had to ask them to come back out and clean it.
2. Middle console was not cleaned.
3. Passenger and driver floor mats were vacuumed, but they were visibly dirty (plastic mats).
4. Trunk cargo mat was not even wiped, again plastic.
5. Rims had water spots and dirt.
They kept my CRV for 3 hours. It is a brand new car 2024. The inside was not dirty to begin with, but they didn't even bother to wipe it down. Look elsewhere if you want a basic cleaning.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aryana T.San Jose, CA814513Jul 18, 2023Updated review
This is a response to Matt.
Thanks Matt for the quick response. I told my BF about the Yelp posting. He agreed you did talk to him on the phone. But, the "over 30 minutes" of discussion is an exaggeration (he bills by the hour so monitors time closely - the chat was actually 15 mins - see attached). Similarly exaggerated are the claims of reviewing the vehicle & identifying these swirl marks prior to servicing the vehicle - there is no question an increase in the described damage was present after the exterior detail at AJs.
Even giving a HEALTHY benefit of the doubt (meaning - we'd be ok if the circular swirl marks only increased by 20% ... keep in mind if anything we'd expect a 20% reduction with this service) - the amount of new spiderweb swirls was appalling (150% increase conservatively) - that's what we meant by gas station car wash results.
If this was noticed originally (prior to servicing) - why wasn't it called out on Jul 3rd (original service date) to the car owner before starting the job? Only when we took the vehicle back in later that week to get the new damage corrected was it mentioned that removing those freshly created swirls would be a challenge.
Also noticed - no response to the water spots in the picture posted. If something as basic as the drying process after the wash or even the buffing step missed these obvious water spots (detailing 101)- what's to say some other steps in more complicated areas weren't missed creating these new spider swirl marks?
Finally - there's no need to name drop sportscar that you have experience servicing. He's happy to show you proof of ownership of his other cars well within that league (yes we're talking - Lambo, Ferrari, Mclaren, a DB9 & also toys you'd consider less worthy of your team's full attention - Porsches, a Ghibli, older Vipers, & Corvettes).
All he asked you to do was review the video footage of the job done on July 3rd & "do the right thing". "The right thing" is up to you to decide (most businesses in this situation would give a full refund to start for example). He was perfectly reasonable - wasn't rude/threatening & didn't demand anything more than correcting damage done. It would be like going to the dentist & having the wrong tooth pulled - hopefully the doctor would want to "do the right thing" before a malpractice attorney has to intervene.
FYI - a guy with the cars he has can clearly afford to repair the damage & drop this (which is why he didn't respond to text / recognized the conversation was going nowhere). I'm writing on his behalf but I can tell he's not happy & will likely never trust any "high end" detailer again.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Aryana,
The vehicle was brought in on the noted date and before it was given its initial hand-wash by our staff, my General Manager, Alex, asked me to look at the paint. The car is a ten-year-old Corvette that appeared to have the original water-base black paint on the fiberglass surface. There were “spider webs” visible to the naked eye throughout the entire body.
My comment to Alex was that we would only be able to improve this finish marginally because:
1. The paint was ten years old,
2. The paint was water-based (instead of solvent-based),
3. Black is the most unforgiving color you can paint a vehicle, and
4. The paint was applied to a fiberglass substrate that does not age well over time.
After the vehicle was serviced and returned to the owner, I spoke with the owner for over 30 minutes and explained to him the four points (above) that were working against the outcome he desired. At the conclusions of the discussion, he seemed to understand what I had explained to him. In a follow up text after our talk, he expressed a desire for me to “do the right thing.” I asked him what he meant by that and did not receive a response. During our discussion I explained to him that there were two options for a car like his with paint in the condition as we received it: 1. Learn to live with it, or 2. Be willing to pay for a new paint job as the old one was failing.
Please know that at AJ’s only our most experienced staff (with more than 18 years with the company) are allowed to polish and buff customers' painted finishes. We regularly work on cars worth well over $200,000 and we use the best polishing machines made (German) and a wide variety of polishing/buffing wheels and pastes/compounds. With that said, we can only work with what the customer brings in. While we generally can vastly improve a painted surface’s finish, we are not miracle workers. If paint is “spider-webbed” it is due to a partial paint failure and polishing will not fix that condition. A fiberglass substrate only makes this condition more likely as over time fiberglass will delaminate. Black paint is the most unforgiving color and water-based paint does not hold up like solvent based paints.
In summation, we performed the best job possible on a paint job that was compromised before it arrived at AJ’s.
Best regards,
Matt Griffoul
Owner, AJ Professional DetailingJul 17, 2023Previous reviewI'm writing this on behalf of my boyfriend - he in fact did not want to complain (especially on a public forum) but considering he's been talking my ear off about it (not in a good way) since the AJ's exterior detail service - I felt compelled to at least warn other potential customers. (cliff notes version/TLDR - overpriced, assembly line mass production feel, horrible end result with potential paint damage at a level you'd expect from a $10 gas station machine wash)
Long Version - he's the original owner of the vehicle serviced at AJs; babied it since day 1 (hand washed/wax bi-weekly, well maintained, garage queen). Brand new some would consider it to be an expensive sportscar - but monetary value aside, the car has sentimental value for him. The car is black & almost a decade old but he has meticulously taken care of this vehicle right from day 1 / out of the show room floor (if there were any pre-existing flaws - he's well aware of them to the point of being OCD).
BF's last experience with AJs was over a year ago & overall positive (only paid $250 back then for the same job). This year "on special" it was near $350 (a 40% increase year over year). Of course, we understand inflation & labor costs - but his hope was that part of the 40% hike was on better quality materials so he was optimistic the job would be even better than 2022.
After agreeing to the price & service (complete exterior detail - wash, clay, polish, wax) he drives in on July 3rd (busy day for AJs) & drops the car off at 10:30AM. From this point - the car would be with AJs for majority of the day. He was promised 2PM completion initially but ultimately was finished closer to 4PM (no big deal - the focus was on the ultimate outcome quality).
We pull into the AJs lot just as his car was driven out of the service bay by the GM. At this point my BF was excited / anticipating an amazing result (literally had pulled a wad of $20s from the ATM to tip the folks that no doubt took care of his baby). First glance of the car from a distance - things looked promising; as soon as we got close to the vehicle (in the sun) - smudges & water spots were evident- OK, let's be fair ... give them a chance to do a walk around. The GM grabs a microfiber towel to wipe down missed areas (first thing BF notices are clearly black marks throughout the fluorescent towel - interesting piece of equipment to use on a freshly washed car).
Unfortunately -this is where things went from bad to worse - upon closer inspection in the sun - his previously pristine vehicle was littered with circular "spider web / swirl marks" that were so obviously new. This is indicative of either dirty equipment, poor technique, a missed step in the wash process or a combination. So BF pointed it out right away & was met with some skepticism ("oh those must have already been there - it's black / it's X years old"). Yes, we recognize normal aging - some flaws on black paint are unavoidable but we didn't expect 5 years of degradation after 1 wash - literally the car looked like it had been polished with a pad full of rocks lodged on its surface - something you'd expect at a gas station automated 5 minute wash for $10; not a $350 all day job!
The GM did ultimately offer to do the job again on his own volition (primarily because the water spots / smudges throughout the car even he agreed was unacceptable at this level). The wash was more thorough the 2nd time around, but swirls were still apparent. So he escalated the damages to the owner who it appeared was more focused on dodging any potential liability by explaining the science behind paint, fiber glass, & the "normal aging process". If the actual folks doing the job had half the talent this guy had in justifying / normalizing the damages - we would have had a beautiful result.
Human error happens - especially at the limits of capacity like the day his car was serviced at AJs (unusually high volume of cars). We're reasonable people & understand that mistakes do occur - but when the business dodges accountability / unwilling to make things right - it's indicative of poor ethics & eventually will impact their bottom line / reputation.
Instead of trying to fix it or reviewing the video footage of the service to identify where things went wrong - they had the audacity to assign blame on us (GM implied we were lying that this must have been pre-existing damage- I guess at AJs the customer is always wrong).
I'm attaching pictures of the water spots & surface scratches (that I referred "to as spider web or swirl marks") which were taken shortly after the wash. If this quality of work is acceptable - there's much cheaper options out there for better results; not expected from a place touting to be a premier detailer. - Joe S.San Francisco, CA01Apr 10, 2024
Can't believe how they have escalated a regular car wash prices from around $50.00 to over $100.00

Very, very disappointed. We had no idea this company is under new ownership as of 2024. I recently took in our luxury vehicle for a deep cleaning not knowing it was under new ownership. In the past, this place was known for its quality. It was explained to me that my "show room" expectations would be met - they were not. I left my car off. When I came to pick it up, it was marginal in service. I had to leave it there for an extra day because it was not properly cleaned according to what they advertise. The female who examines the incoming cars is not qualified and needs dire training (please!). In fact, once I picked up my car and drove home, I could hear a "clanking" sound coming from the back of my car. When I returned home, I discovered that the technicians who worked on my care never removed their cleaning products from the inside my car! I don't have time to waste and am more than willing to pay the price to have my vehicles detailed properly; however, I will not be returning. In all fairness, I have found another company (I will not mention it here) that exceeds my expectations.

This is more of a question. Is an express wax a hand wax or just a wax spray?
I've used AJ's before and liked the results but just noticed on the website that an express wax is a coat of conditioning glaze. So what am I paying $125 for, a hand wax or conditioning glaze?

Went there to get the complete detailing service. I waited there from 1 pm to 6:45 pm. Understood they were busy and also didn't want to rush them, would rather them do a good job. However after almost half a day of waiting and paying $375 plus tips my trunk was not even vacuum. Staff are very nice and friendly but just think attentional to details is important when you're paying for a $375 job. Called them back the next day to let them know, however I just don't have the time to take the car back for them to vacuum. I will vacuum myself.
Had the 10 off coupon in my email from subscribing to their email list but didn't even bother to use it since I understand it's hard work.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
