Do you mean if you're not a parishioner? Or if you're not Catholic? Either way, the answer is yes...this Cathedral gets more tourists than many in the world! However, if you are not Catholic, I would refrain from receiving the Eucharist. But all are… more

Amazing Cathedral! I have never seen anything like it! I'm from California and went straight to the cathedral on my arrival day. The place is beautiful!
It will be crowded! People from all over the world come here. It is a magical place. There is security there, and they will inspect backpacks. The security guards are professional and helpful. So pack your patience, there will be a lot of people there.
We did the VIP tour, and it was the best! You get to see places no one else does. There is also a guided app tour, which costs a lot less. I really liked the guided tour, if you're Catholic you will enjoy it. It's about 1.5 hours.
I went to the gift shop across the street, it was very nice. It had Irish rosaries and other unique items. We bumped into a priest there and he was nice enough to give us a blessing and blessed our items. I recommend St. Patrick's Cathedral, once you are inside, you'll feel like you are transported to a different place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Heather H.Baltimore, MD48470128Mar 26, 2024
What a beautiful cathedral. I'm so happy I finally got to see it in person.
I didn't get a ton of time, but was was blown away by the mosaic altar pieces, and enjoyed listening to the Mass as I walked through as a tourist. I should have just attended, honestly. Catholic guilt!
This is such a historically and culturally important place, that I would probably pay for a tour if I was there on my own. Seeing it for free didn't disappoint though (however, I did make a contribution).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 10, 2024
This church is across the street from Rockefeller Center and is absolutely breathtaking to see in person. It is the largest Gothic Revival Catholic cathedral in North America and takes up an entire city block. This church was built in the 1850's and is now surrounded by skyscrapers. I have only been inside of it once and it was towards closing time. So my time to walk around and explore the cathedral was short. I was able to walk down the aisle towards the alter and enjoy the craftsmanship and design of the interior before leaving. St. Patrick's Cathedral has two pipe organs and 19 bells located in the north tower.
The construction of St. Patrick's Cathedral in the 1800's became necessary due to increasing population in the city and the continuous arrival of immigrants from the Catholic religion. It was designed by James Renwick Jr and construction was completed in 1879 (work was halted briefly during the American Civil War). St. Patrick's Cathedral is still an active Parish within the Archdiocese of New York and opens daily during the week for visitors. Even if you are not a religious person, stand outside this renowned city landmark and marvel at its architectural beauty.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 0 - Mar 9, 20241 check-in
We so enjoyed our visit to St Patrick's Cathedral, glorious place of worship dedicated in 1879 to accommodate the growing number of parishioners . It is a beautiful, welcoming, peaceful place ( however, they do have to check your bags upon entry).
Areas are roped off for prayers and mass and all were most respectful.
We spent over an hour here marveling at the architecture and magnificence, while admiring the artwork and devotional stations for the saints. The stained glass windows are mesmerizing.
There are self guided and private tours.
A marvel to behold regardless of your religious beliefs or practices.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 7233661976Jan 26, 2024
Friday Mass at noon is 30 minutes with communion.
Security ropes off the aisle so only people sitting in pews for Mass can walk down the aisle which is smart.
People are still walking on the sides of the church as Mass is going on.
The cantor did a lovely job and the priest's homily on the feast of Saints Timothy & Titus was meaningful.
After Mass we stopped in the gift shop. It's small and we didn't need anything so we headed out.
Every time we come to the Cathedral we enjoy the beauty.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 0 - Jan 7, 2024
I had only ever seen the outside of st pats and over thanksgiving the group I was with wanted to go inside and check it out, which i was very happy to do.
Since it's in fact a cathedral, it's massive, and has so much to look at.
I was able to take my time and check out each side chapel (no sure of the technical term, Sunday school was awhile ago)
Each area focuses on a different Saint, and has information plaques as well. Truly all beautiful, I hope to be able to attend Mass here one day!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Mar 12, 20241 check-in
This church is extremely beautiful. I was super impressed seeing it again and was able to take in all its beauty. Check out the pics to see what I mean.

Gorgeous cathedral! The architecture is amazing. The decor is so ornate. It's really cool they let you come visit, explore and you can light a candle for a small donation. Just be sure to check the times and visit when mass isn't taking place.

Beautiful architecture and several little grottos to check out and see the Christmas decorations. I wasn't able to catch mass here, but was able to see the Cardinal on his way out from the previous mass (from the Spanish mass). I would find it a little odd that tourists are able to come in and wander around during the mass and several pews roped off so that the visitors cannot disturb the mass.
