They will be missed. The best ice cream I've ever had in my entire life. I would give anything for them to rise from the ashes, but it's not looking hopeful

catchy name for a business but honestly that's about all there is to like. The staff were much more interested in chatting with each other than helping.
The ice cream has clever names but really weak mouth appeal. Texture, flavor aroma - just disappointing. We had the vanilla and I'd happily trade it for the Kirkland vanilla ice cream for much less cost.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 5, 2024
I didn't like this at all! The icecream is like whipped cream! It's not real tasting it has a fake taste to it! The texture isn't my favorite either! i thought of it like frozen frosting and that's not what icecream should be. Sad with this review

I didn't know what to expect because I had never been here before. I expected a lot of fruity and candy toppings because of the color. They had toppings, but not in that way. I ordered the Rufus sundae in a cup with a gluten-free cone. I ordered it with chocolate fudge sauce and chocolate ice cream. It came with chopped nuts and whipped cream too.
The whipped cream wasn't sweet, but everything else was. The ice cream was pretty good and in the future, I would love to try the elaborately decorated doughnuts. The ice cream was delicious and I definitely plan on coming here again in the future. I was very happy with my experience.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 25, 2023
Taste the flavors of the rainbow at Big Gay Ice Cream, Columbus Ave!Their donuts are also out of this world.
Never seen such cool, decorative, food art on these heavenly donuts, that will leave your mouth watering for more!
Big Gay Ice Cream is a New York-based ice cream company that was founded in 2009.
This fun, cool, company started as a food truck and has since expanded to multiple locations in New York City and Philadelphia.
Big Gay Ice Cream is known for its unique and playful flavors, such as Salty Pimp (vanilla ice cream with dulce de leche, sea salt, and chocolate dip), Bea Arthur (vanilla ice cream with dulce de leche and crushed Nilla wafers), and American Globs (vanilla ice cream with pretzels, sea salt, and chocolate dip).
The company has also gained a reputation for its commitment to LGBTQ+ rights and activism, with a portion of their profits going towards various LGBTQ+ organizations and causes.
Highly recommend checking out this cool, hip, trendy, colorful, lively ice cream store, they also have very playful donuts.Helpful 25Thanks 2Love this 16Oh no 0 - 575961306Jun 4, 2023
If you are specifically a fan of soft serve ice cream, then this is the place for you! Big Gay Ice Cream offers a variety of ice cream creations, but all with the common ingredient of tasty soft serve ice cream, as opposed to the usual icier/harder ice cream. I got the Blueberry Gobbler ($7.75), which is like an ice cream parfait of sorts. I got it with the "twist" soft serve (vanilla and chocolate mix). It also came with some blueberries, blueberry sauce, pie crumbles, and whipped cream on top. The soft serve itself was high quality. The other ingredients were nice and tasty complements although I personally think they could've added even more of them.
The place itself is pretty small with just two benches inside for seating and a few outdoor tables. The interior is very white colored and somewhat bland in decor- I definitely think a point for improvement would be to improve the interior decor to highlight the colorful brand color scheme (maybe some rainbow colors / cool lighting or something). The staff are pretty friendly and the service speed is quick.
Overall, the soft serve here is high quality with a bunch of different unique options. If you are craving some ice cream / soft serve in the Upper West Side, then definitely stop by!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 18, 2023
I got the American Globs which is vanilla soft serve coated in chocolate covered pretzels and dipped in chocolate. The flavors were really good but it's so hard to eat. You can't really eat the shell and the ice cream at the same time. It's just not super practical though it tastes good.
Very nice worker. She gave me a waffle cone for no extra charge. Seating outside and some standing tables inside.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 7, 2023
Really good soft serve ice cream, though I wish it had been clearer. The menu has a lot of fancy concoctions listed, but what if I wanted to start simple and build from there? That option might exist, but it's certainly not the one they promote in an obvious place.
Satisfying enough to share. There is a lot of variety. And rainbows!Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 0 - Mary S.Miami Beach, FL3582551Oct 1, 2023
As someone who loved the West Village location for many years, my visit to the UWS location was absolutely disappointing.
The preparation of the Salty Pimp has been completely downgraded. There is no salt and caramel lining of the cone. The plain vanilla cone was immediately tipped over into the paper plate, and the chocolate shell hardened onto the paper. The Salty Pimp was basically a vanilla cone. Very flavorless for almost $8.
The Dorothy was barely covered in Nilla Wafers or caramel, and the Nilla Wafers were stale.
Needless to say, I will not be returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
